The bartender at the hotel I was staying at recommended this spot. It essentially felt like I was walking into a frat house, but a lot cleaner and the bar is a pretty nice setup inside a home. Cheap drinks and a good time.

The margarita is hand made not from a machine. Double Entendre is delicious. We are from Kansas City & the main places on yelp have been okay. But this place is a great local place everyone should stop at.

Came in on my birthday with my BF just to get away from my family after a birthday lunch. Walked in and immediately felt some cool vibes going on here. I love how quaint and home-y Lowcountry feels. The bar is super cool and dark looking - I love it. There is a variety of craft cocktails you can choose from here so take your pick or default to the house sangria. Back patio is pretty awesome but small so if you have a big party it may be better for you to be inside where you can seat 6-8 people in the room right by the restroom. The front room was spacious yet romantic with the mantel and the pews off against the wall. Cool art! I thought I saw a Daniel Johnston piece but I wasn't 100% sure. Best thing about Lowcountry? The view of the Tower of the Americas from their front patio. Off in the distance can you marvel at a 1968 World Fair structure that is amazingly still standing and operating in San Antonio. Lowcountry - you da best! Also side note - I heard that many traveling bands and local bands come play here at Lowcountry. Recently I heard a gig advertised on Austin radio (KUTX) for a show at Lowcountry that should not be missed. Safe to say that their a lowkey Lowcountry music venue too. I am a fan.

Returned to Low Country with high expectations as I gave it a 5 star review 3 years ago when we visited. One hit wonder....first visit was awesome second visit was fine. Just fine. Happy hour was fine...vibe of the place missing but was fine. Ernie is no longer there so strike one and bartender was bothered by our presence! Just a 3. Won't go out of my way again and wouldn't recommend as I have been the past 3 years of anyone visiting the area.

Quaint unique cocktail bar situated just outside of the main Downtown drag. Go here for your after after dinner drinks and sit on their backyard porch or the patio. It is the perfect place to take a friend to have a quiet intimate conversation or hang with a group of friends who want to try interesting cocktails. What I love about this cocktail bar is that their drinks are made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The drinks are complex and flavorful. The price per drink is not that bad either! I didn't find this place on my own, it was reommended to me. Now, I make plans to go every time I am in town. Return Factor:100%

Just when you thought that the only things to check out in San Antonio are the Alamo and Tex-Mex food on the River Walk, lo and behold a delicious bar serving high-quality concoctions inside a residential-home-converted bar. Basically, Lowcountry serves some delicious cocktails in an intimate dimly lit environment. I had a tasty whiskey based cocktail I wish I could have again--there was a big orange rind in there that managed to not seem gaudy or annoying.Their simple website is very accurate for a self description:A southern little hole-in-the-wall in San Antonio, TX.Hours:mon-sun 4pm-2am

This hole-in-the-wall bar is the newest addition to Southtown's coolest speakeasy-type bars. Lowcountry is a tiny converted home, consisting of about three rooms, so things can either be insanely packed, or completely dead. It's hard to find it at a comfortable number of people. But it is a good place to go to hear some live music. The old house gives acoustics unlike any other venue in town. The place is so small, that if you need to squeeze by to go to the restroom, or get another beer, you're going to have to walk through the middle of the band. In fact, if you want to dance, you'll probably be grinding at least one member of the band. The drinks are delicious and imaginative. They've got the regular beers, as well as a few really great craft beers. Beer is cheap, $3 for Lone Star, which goes even cheaper during HH. They offer champagne for $3/glass all day, every day. Not too shabby! The bartenders are great, incredibly friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable about their drinks, and want to make sure that they get it right. The decor is interesting. It seems like they didn't change much since this was an old house off of Durango Street. There's a piece of art with the coordinates 29N 33W, or something to that effect. If you look it up, it's off the coast of S. Carolina. I have no idea what that means. There's a front, and a back patio area, where things get a bit less cramped. This place is not ADA compliant. They have a handicapped elevator in the back, but it seemed inoperable and covered with empty beer cans. Granted, most of those beer cans were mine. There are stairs in the front and the back, so it could pose a problem.

I want to start out by saying this bar isn't for everyone. Not everybody is going to like it, it is smaller than most, and if you have a goo band playing it'll be hard to find a seat inside. The patio however is spacious, and the drinks are so, so, good. It is a cocktail bar, though they do offer some bottled beers and wine. They have a cocktail menu that is written daily, so it's always changing. while some might be disappointed to find that a drink they liked one day, isn't on the menu the next, I think it's what makes the bar so great. Variety is the spice of life after all! This really is your friendly neighborhood bar, the bartenders are all quite experienced and are pulled in from bars all over the city. if you frequent the bar scene, and frequent this bar, it will quickly become like cheers, where "everyone will know your name."There is frequently live music playing, either in doors or outside depending on the weather. The ambiance is great, on the patio you can see the Tower of the Americas. The inside perfectly captures a balance between divey and classy, intimate and friendly. It's a really great bar, and while not everyone will like it, they should at least give it a chance.

Made a pitstop here prior to my dinner reservation- fantastic inventive cocktail spot that approached drinks like a chef thinks of food: how can we best combine seasonal ingredients in new and exciting ways to dazzle palates? Interior vibe was on point- great homey, vintage, quirky, cozy nook feels. The art on the walls was interesting and additive to the experience. Reasonably priced, friendly service and perfect spot for a drink any time of day. 12/10 would return.
