Can't wait for them to re-open!! The remodel is coming along very well. My friend and I got the opportunity to take a sneak peek a few weeks ago with the owner. It was amazing to have all the memories come back as we were told of what is still in the works of things to come. The burgers were tasty, and the ambiance so cozy, with the family history all around. My family and I can't wait to go back. I personally am excited to meet some friends here again.

My "Big Boy" combo was awesome. I came for lunch and they are only open Wednesday Thursday and Friday. The big boy is a double meat hamburger with fries and a soda or tea. The burger was so juicy, and had a great flavor. The fries were the skin on kind and we're delicious as well. The whole thing cost me $8.65 which is easily dropped at a chain burger place before. Their menu also offers a chicken salad, chicken sandwiches, and fish. I will definitely be coming back for more.

The owner was very sweet and the burgers and delicious. Did the $24.99 deal, 5 burgers, two fries and 5 drinks. Great deal for a family with kids.

Excellent gourmet burger! Fresh ingredients and home made fries made for a fantastic lunch. Bring your appetite. The ribeye po boy will be my next item to try.

The burgers are just AMAZING. Hand pressed, buns are grilled, I was able to customize my order (because I don't do spicy!) and the fries are hand cut and seasoned perfectly! The burgers were so big that neither my husband and I were able to finish! (I came close though!!) But it was probably because I ate every single fry before I even started on the burger. The portions are very generous. We took our food to go - but I loved the vintage atmosphere and the owner (who has always been there to take my order) is sweet and kind, and even when they are super busy makes you feel like family. This is a spot to NOT be missed! It should truly be considered one of San Antonio's gems!

Great burgers and atmosphere. Staff is super friendly, and the food is awesome. Try the El Jefe burger. You won't be disappointed. Very small place, tucked away on the southwest side of downtown San Antonio. A regular lunch place for me an my crew at work. Tell Carol hello!

Went in not expecting much but was I ever surprised! Carol, the owner, greeted us as we walked in and made us feel at home right away. She suggested a few food choices for us and we wound up having the #1 combo with the homemade fries. Johnny , the chef, made one of the tastiest burger I have had in a long time and the homemade fries were seasoned just right. Will definitely try and visit again soon. Thank you Carol! I give the hamburger a 5-star rating. I give the french fries a one-star rating. This was one of the best homemade style hamburgers that I have ever eaten. The meat was like fresh ground, I do not think it had ever been frozen. Definitely give the burger a try. Stay away from the fries. Half cooked and soggy with oil. They should turn up the heat on the fryer. A very small place that has been in business since 1953. THEY ARE ONLY OPEN ON WED, THUR AND FRI.

Stopped by yesterday. I had a cheeseburger and it was great!!! Every item in it was fresh. Fresh squeezed lemonade was awesome!! If you are in the neighborhood this is a must try for a burger lover...
