Las Rancheritas Cafe

This place might be a hit-or-miss type of restaurant. I grew up in the area and always saw this place but had never been. The food was ok and the server did not come to check on us. I ordered the huevos rancheros plate, my husband had the fideo and a picadillo taco. I really wanted to enjoy my food. The sauce was what should have stood out on the huevos rancheros plate, different flavors that fuse together which should leave you wanting more. Unfortunately the sauce was lacking flavor and was bland. The tortillas also lacked flavor. There were a couple of unpleasant surprises in my food as I ate. There were 2 generously sized pieces of eggshell and a hair in the salsa. My husband had already finished his food and I was a quarter of the way into mine. That's when I stopped eating, we paid for our meal and left. I didn't complain, I had no words. Sadly, we will not be visiting ever again.

Went here with my husband he ordered a chicken fried steak I ordered huevos rancheros; the food was sub-par in our opinion. He said his chicken fried steak seemed microwaved and it was too well done/burned. His papas Fritas were crimp fries. The waitress was okay; waited awhile for menus but we were mostly unacknowledged. We wouldn't return to dine here if the food were free.Overall the restaurant was clean but otherwise would not recommend.

Stopped by today because I was in the neighborhood and was hungry. Peculiar smell upon entering the business... just wanted a couple of tacos and coffee . Nothing special, tacos weren't special actually not much flavor until I added salt and pepper with hot sauce... the coffee was hot! Not sure how this place stays open with so much better competition around...‍ won't be returning. My advice, it's a hard pass on this place, plenty other places to choose!Update: Next day! I had chorizo and bean, and chorizo, egg and cheese, I have been in and out of the bathroom since 5am this morning! Uncontrollable diarrhea! not a happy man! Stay away from this place! should have read some of the other reviews before stopping by!

MENUDO!!! Wow, you need to try it! Very tasty & always piping hot!!! I don't even have to add lemon & onion. Well, ok, I`ll add it anyhow. They aren't shy about it either, they pour it on with plenty of menudo in a cup it overflows my spoon as i eat it. They always add torts, Ive never eaten it my menudo with torts, but oh well. Tortillas with butter when I get home. They claim their menudo got the peoples choice award, I agree, its my choice! Try some!!

Awesome, corner restaurant, biscuits and gravy, well served and taco Chorizo A la Mexicana

Wow! I've been missing out from here ppl. All these yrs living in the west side and passing this place up, I never thought this place would be awesome. So as I was doing some errands at heb, I decided to call in for tacos to pick up and so the Yelp search box showed me Las Rancheritas restaurant nearby. Yes this place is completely hidden from traffic on Gen McMullen and located across the HEB on Las Palmas. Being a little skeptical i only ordered tacos to try out. My order-3 papa and egg 2 papa ranchera 2 ham and egg 3 chorizo and bean 1 beef fajita w/guacamole=$14.98I absolutely love their tortillas. Also, they have some of the best papa ranchera I've ever had! Chorizo and bean was delicious.My wife said they have one of the best papa and egg tacos ever,,,and last but not least the fajita taco was very tasty and came with onion and bell peppers along with the guacamole.In my opinion this place deserves a second date from this guy, and so I'm giving it 5 stars. Hopefully next time I come here I will be dining inside and trying out their plates. I will definitely be coming back and updating my review. and egg

Really nice little restaurant with good Mexican style food. Coffee tasted nice and robust and the food was well seasoned. I had eggs and porkchops and the wife had 'migas'. This place is clean and worth having a meal when you want someplace quiet and not far from the beaten path. This restaurant seems to easily hold 100 customers. The downside is only one bathroom. If you're handicapped it might be unsuitable especially if you're overweight as it can be a tight fit. Parking lot needs a good resurfacing, but I t is paved, so you won't get bogged down during bad weather. All in all, still worth it for the food if you want to eat at a small, clean and friendly restaurant. 4 stars and that's only because of the one bathroom and the parking lot.

Recycled food, not fresh. Leftovers are mixed in with other foods. Ghetto style service and attitude. Cleanliness is not a priority at this restaurant wrecks of sewage inside.

Seriously the best pork chop lunch special around. And the amount of food for the price is fantastic!!!! Definitely a must try

If you are looking for a place to eat a good Mexican Tx Mex food you have fomd the place. Prices are reasonable. Menudo is the bomb! Flour Tortillas could use a little work but the corn tortillas are good! Come early because it ges pretty busy!
