Las Palapas - Potranco

This Las Palapas location is one of our parents favorite places to go eat because the staff treats you like family and remembers you and the food is pretty darn good! I ordered the carne guisada and beef was so tender and the flavor is on point! The eggs were cooked exactly what was ordered. The papas needed work and was under seasoned. We went on Sunday for brunch and everywhere else their was wait times but not Las Palapas. We had no problem getting a booth table. This location have many clean tables, chairs, and booths. They give you chips and salsa complimentary with two different salsas. Red and green salsa. The green salsa was spicy and the red one was mild. Tortillas come out hot and the refried beans was perfect . Would I come back to Las Palapas? Yes! Hospitality is great and you get a great plate of food for a very reasonable price. :)

I hate to leave a bad review but this is the first time I've ran into this problem at any of the Las palapas. My husband and I are dual military so usually we just show one proof of identification. Of course I left my ID at home because it's in my uniform. Well, the store manager told me my meal could not be discounted because "dependents don't count". I tried to explain I am active duty, he didn't believe I was a service member (I'm an ethnic minority and a woman, which is most likely why he didn't believe me) and I tried to find a copy of my ID on my phone, he didn't even allow me try to show it. Let me preface by saying, I believe a discount is a privilege and not an entitlement, so I'm not at all upset to pay full price for my meal. We've gone to various Las palapas all the time, and I enjoy dining with them. This is a new location that we decided to try for Father's Day. For me it's the clear assumption that I was a dependent and the audacity to try to make assumptions. I'm appalled by you Las palapas as I just completed my 10th year in the service this last month.

I went to the restaurant this morning and ordered 4 tacos for my daughter and me to go, and got ticket number 20053 at 8:23 am. However, when we started to eat them at her school, we quickly realized that the potatoes were not cooked properly and were still hard. The only good thing about the tacos was the one bean and cheese. Unfortunately, the phone number to call was NOT on the receipt. I had to look up the restaurant's location online to get their number and then called to speak to the manager. But again, I was unlucky, as I could only leave a message and couldn't talk to a real person. This was really frustrating me. They have poor customer service. I don't think I'll be going back there again.

Just did drive thru order intending to 3 cheese enchiladas plate but they mistakenly gave me the chicken verdes enchilada plate. You would think that this would be a bad review for the mistake but the plate was delicious and plan to order in the future. All of their dishes are tasty as usual.

If I could give this location 0 stars, I ABSOLUTELY would! I've spent way too much many with them for the "General Manager," Adrian Saenz to do NOTHING when we called to report that my husband nearly swallowed a BREAD TIE that was in his salad. He refused to even provide a corporate phone number. He's lucky AF that my husband didn't choke, cut his esophagus or both! To completely dismiss the issue is complete BS. I suggest that you RUN FAR, FAR away from this DUMP!

First time at Las Palapas and genuinely surprised at all the hater reviews! I mean first.it is a chain, that being said the tacos we're pretty.good and the Margarita selection was great. The server was nice and the bill was correct. Worth a try if you've never been.

We are no strangers to Las Palapas. My husband loves the place. As per usual I have to modify my order. I wanted enchiladas but with a crema sauce (always!) but I don't like chicken enchiladas if they aren't homemade. So I get the shrimp enchiladas with cilantro cream sauce and added beef fajita. They have some of the best beef fajita for a fast food spot!

Well I tried giving them a try even after seeing the reviews. I'll start off with the food was very good and the drinks were very good, but... I saw others around me telling the waitress their bills were incorrect and she didn't seem to care but would correct it. When it was time to pay I noticed she charged me for a large margarita when I asked for a small, charged my friend full price for a Bloody Mary when she ordered the brunch special, and didn't add my veteran discount when I clearly showed her my ID. I went up to the cashier and had to explain it to 3 different people. In the end. All they did was change the price of the margarita which was only about 2.00 off the bill. No veteran discount, no adjustment to the Bloody Mary which would have taking off about 5 more dollars and not a single acknowledgment of what happened. Unfortunately I won't be back here and won't recommend it either. Not when we have to audit our bills and if something happens.. no one.. including management will do anything.

Firstly I understand that the Discount is a privilege and not a given. We have always gone to the Potranco Las Palapas and received the discount with thank you's and the upmost of courtesy. Being Retired I have always shown my ID and my mother has shown her Deceased Member dependent ID and received the same courtesy. Unfortunately on 27 December at 6pm my wife went to pick up an order with my ID as I am 100% disabled with limited mobility. We called to verify that my wife could pick up the order with my ID. The young lady on the phone said "Sure. No problem". My wife shows up and is told by the staff, as the manager was not there, that the discount was for Active Duty only. This was quite a surprise as we had just been there less than a week prior and received the discount! Their explanation was that the restaurant was under a new owner and had decided that the discount applied to Active Duty only. This was quite disheartening as there was no mention of this change posted anywhere and not on the menu nor the online links. Now I will need to inform our regular breakfast and dinner groups that we are no longer appreciated at this location. We will now need to find another Las Palapas who lives up to San Antonio's moniker of "Military City USA". Shame on the new owners.

Awful service. Asked for extra hot sauce and wanted to charge. Always forgets something, today was tortillas. Not very friendly. Nothing like the Las Palapas on Tezel.
