*5-Star Review for Labor Street Cafe**UPDATE: 1/26/25*I have been recommending Labor Street Cafe to all of my guests staying at my Airbnb just a block away. People from all over the country/world have popped in, and loved it as much as I did. This place is exactly what Lavaca had been missing!Labor Street Cafe is everything you want in a local, neighborhood restaurant. The owners are warm and welcoming, and the space is clean, bright, and inviting. Whether you're enjoying coffee and a pastry on their cozy sofas or sitting down for a full meal in a private booth, the atmosphere is perfect. They also have TVs, swivel chairs with tables, and a breakfast bar along the window with charging stations -- ideal for getting work done. I had the eggs Benedict, and it was exceptional. The Hollandaise sauce was spot-on, and the eggs were perfectly poached. Highly recommend!

I'm always in the search for a local business to enjoy lunch, coffee or a snack. I had heard about this café. I decided to try them out for lunch. Their menu has breakfast and lunch. They serve it the whole day. They also have baked goods. For some reason I thought this place was a coffee shop, but it isn't. They do have coffee as one of their beverage options. I ended up getting the savory shroom. They give you the option of bread. I got it on wheat. If you want to add a side, it is two dollars more. The sides are a side salad, fruit, or hash browns. My sandwich was good. It was flavorful and had a good amount of mushrooms. My friend got his sandwich that had JLP mayo. FYI, that's jalapeño mayo and it's spicy. I got a tea for my drink. They have self serve tea. They have an option of black tea or a hibiscus tea. They are unsweet. I was impressed with the hibiscus tea. Typically it is too tart for me, but this Hibiscus Tea was good. Instead of a side I ended up getting a protein ball. It was pretty good. It was a great dessert for me. The place is extremely cute. They have plenty of plugs. I did see people there with laptops. It is dog friendly. They have inside and outside seating. Parking is on site, but with limited spots. I had not problem finding a spot. You order at the counter and they bring out your food. We did think it was weird that our sandwich took so long to come out because they really didn't have to cook anything but the mushrooms for my sandwich. There was only one other table that was waiting for food, but we had ordered our meals first. Everyone was friendly and staff came to our table twice to make sure we were doing good

As a 15 year plus downtown resident, this is our backyard. With 30 plus years in the hospitality field (now retired) I feel I can bring you real insight into our locations. The good, the bad and the ugly. If we run across a serious issue, I will always go directly to management and not post it. I truly believe you always must give management an opportunity to correct a serious issue. If not corrected and or just ignored, then I feel it is correct to inform the public - professionally. No establishment is perfect. I will bring to you smaller hiccups we may have come across. I will rarely comment on the taste of food - being bad, as that is a very personal thing. My wife and I disagree on taste of food and wine, no one is wrong or right. Now if the food is on fire, burned, under/overcooked to our requests, that would be mentioned. I'm always here for general downtown questions and possible recommendations. We went to the café about a month ago. This time we went using our OFFLINE membership. Nothing changed! The food was so good again. This doesn't happen often, but I didn't take any pictures! That first bite must have been off the charts lol. Again, the service was fantastic. When we entered, was asked if this was our first time trying the café. The customers behind us, it was their first time. They went over the operation of the café and then the items and suggestions. HOW REFRESHING! Again, the owner/manager was asking the customers how everything was, even small talking with folks. Again, HOW REFRESHING! The ambiance was great, no issues at all with it being noisy. They have a local artist that has her items for sell in the cafe. The coffee was empty, but the server offered me to wait for the fresh pot or get a fufu coffee from the expresso mention. Nice!HIGHLY suggest trying this neighborhood gem off the beaten path.

I work 100% remote and I needed a place to getaway for lunch for a change of scenery and to knock out some reports. I checked out Labor Street and it looked perfect. Indeed it was! It's a great spot to setup and work for a couple of hours. Unlike another place I recently tried - Labor Street offered unlimited free coffee refills (and it's GOOD coffee). I had one of the breakfast bowls and it was divine. When I arrived the owner greeted me and even showed me to a better table where I would be more comfortable (you seat yourself). He was very attentive to the patrons because once I setup my laptop he saw I would need the WiFi password and he was about to write it down and give it to me. Turns out they have it conveniently posted by the register - I just missed it. All in all a great experience and I will be returning!

My husband and I liked the decor and local artwork displayed at the cafe. We received a friendly greeting immediately upon entering. We ordered the Savory Shroom sandwich and Tejas Scramble. I asked if anything came with the sandwich and was told that a side salad is included. After we paid and received our receipt, I noticed there was an additional fee for the salad. I wanted to try an espresso drink, but was told they were not able to make hot coffee that day. Overall, our food was tasty, yet slightly over priced. However, I would return to try their breakfast items, especially their biscuits, pancakes, and a hot espresso drink. As a side note, there are a few parking spaces out front, but plenty of street parking near the restaurant.

Super cute, chill spot that I wish I knew of earlier in life, glad I've found it now! As you walk in, you place your order & they will bring it to you once it's ready! Everything is fresh & very tasty. I really enjoyed the pancakes they're unlike no other! There was something about their sriracha that was so very amazing! The wait time was a little long or maybe I was just super hangry! I will definitely be back! I love that there's charging plugs at the table to charge up.

These people work HARD to please their customers. I appreciated how much they cared about what I would order or whether my drink needed more ice. They serve their full menu all day long, so if you want Pancakes For Dinner, this is the place. I had a turkey sandwich and it was quite good. The hibiscus tea was sugar-free and although sugar was available, it was flavorful enough to drink without adding any. My friend had the egg scramble and hash browns and said it was terrific.

Greeted and welcomed as soon as we walked in. The BEST biscuits and gravy since enlisted in the Marine Corps (almost 30 years ago, so I've had my share). Great buttermilk pancakes. The owner is wonderful and makes sure your meal is perfect. We give this a 5+ rating. Won't be long and they'll need "wait" benches out front.
