La Popular Mexican Restaurant & Bakery

Went this morning for sweet bread and ended up with 3 bags full of sweetbread, fresh tortillas and fresh tamales! Man was everything so good and for a great price! Staff so friendly !

Potato egg and cheese tacos are my favorite since going pescatarian. The flavor is good. The potatoes are a bit large. And I had the green sauce...I am sad to say this days flavor was very bland. I had to add salt and I don't usually have to in most of my tacos. I will try again because it is close to work. I try to give places 2nd chances. And this place seemed to be pretty popular regardless of the ratings here.

Food and service were both great. We tried Potato and Egg tacos with crispy bacon, bean and cheese tacos which were great and one of the best pancakes in the city. Most of the bad reviews this place has is over nonsense that doesnt seem to be true. Give them a shot

Service was good. The small menudo ($7.99) was not. Normally I love salty food but this was completely inedible. They were nice enough to not charge me for the bite I took. But I still went home with the taco de carne asada($3.25) that I got my husband. He said it was a little salty, too. But not bad. The chips and salsa weren't bad but they weren't great. I also got a pink cake after seeing a San Antonio Restaurant group on FB post about it. So when I saw it here, I figured why not. It was actually really good. Moist and without the flavor of box made cake. Not overly sweet and the pink royal icing frosting had a sweet crunch to it as I took one bite on my way home. However, for a slice, I figure I can easily replicate this recipe for the cost of one slice ($3.00). So one star for the cake & one star for the service. Please note that they charge an additional 3.80% charge for ALL transactions.

Pretty average place, they are quick with the food and have dine in available. I do think the place is pretty pricey though, $2-$3 a taco is pretty expensive especially when they're not big tacos. The service was very friendly and attentive, I give it to the manager having to deal with all these rude customers.The bakery could use some help, it look pretty much empty, maybe y'all should consider getting rid of it and merging the building together; to have more seating room.

Looking for cheap Mexican food? This is it! I was looking for a quick homemade meal during my lunch break and this place has exactly what I wanted. Their portions were huge and the food was very delicious. The staff is very kind and my food was brought to the table within 10 minutes. Fast service is a bonus! I got the special of the day which was the Mexican plate that came with 2 cheese enchiladas and a hard shell taco. Absolutely delicious!! I will definitely return in the future.

Not a bakery. Was happy to have some good pan dulce with my breakfast tacos. When I walked in they only had like 2 kinds of Mexican bread and tortillas. Bummer. Came another time and it was still the same. They should just remove it and the name.

i've only ever gotten take out but the service here is always super fast, consistent, friendly bi-lingual and their breakfast tacos are always hot and delicious. my husband is obsessed with their potato and egg, i love their beans and cheese & egg with "weanie" 7 tacos and a large sweet tea is roughly $17 without tip. i highly recommend their flour tortillas (:

Had a Mexica Plate last evening ... 2 cheese enchiladas, crispy beef taco w/rice, salad & refried beans ... delicious‼

Over all the food is alright. The ladies here are always willing and ready to help. The tea is good most days and the taco are good. It is a clean and safe space. It's my go too.
