La Popular Bakery & Cake Shop

Plenty of parking, easy in and out. One side to enter, one to exit. There's a cooler for drinks and four cases of sugary sweets to choose from. So! Much! Pan Dulce! Spanish dominant friendly service. Doughnuts, empanadas, concha's, cookies. Really, any sweet delicious pastry you can think of, they have! I tried a cinnamon crispy apple empanada. I don't know the name of it, but it's the description. Yum!! Also, pumpkin empanada, which is what I went for. That's all I got this time around, but I'll have to swing back by next time I'm going to a gathering. It's an easy and affordable way to provide deliciousness to a whole party of peeps. I'll definitely stop back by and support this local spot!

This place is my favorite to pick up some sweet bread. It's so hard to decide what I want each time and the fragrance of the freshly made items is incredible!

i bought 3 donuts and 8 small cookies was charged 12$ i felt i was over charged and when i got to work i pulled out the donut out and there was a dead fly on them that freaking disgusting and the cookies tasted old smh this is a disappointment

The clerk doesn't is not fluent in English, however, she is the sweetest and does her best to please her customers. My family and I are very picky where we get our sweet bread from. My wife.. IS a nit picker. Yet, this bakery has pleased my wife, which is a good thing...I chose the spot, so they saved me from me wife's behind chewing.

The sweet smell and bright colors electrified my senses the minute I opened the door to La Popular Bakery & Cake Shop on West Ave! Although there was a bit of a language barrier to me finding out more about the history of this bakery, that just means it's all the more authentic! The décor definitely reveals, though, that this is a long-standing local favorite... and the craftful delicacies explain why. Don't sleep on La Popular Bakery... you deserve a donut!

I went into this bakery because it was convenient to my errands. This bakery has lots of beautiful looking bakery items, your typical panaderia fare. Prices are typical, but the bread was dry. They sold me pan de huevo that was at least a day old. Most of my purchase was at least a day old bread. The lady was nice and helpful but I won't be purchasing sweet bread from there again. I'll go back to driving to the west side and buying my bread from my favorite panaderia.

This place is always busy and the selection is great. We get overwhelmed with the choices but we aren't complaining as we just buy more. You don't want to buy pastries any other places once you get them here. There is definitely a difference in taste. Worth the wait and money.

I stopped to get so pan dulce and was really disgusted when I saw a cockroach crawling on an empanada really dirty place will not be coming back

Definitely worth the drive and the wait. Good service overall. We brought the bread all the way to Odessa TX. Not much variety here and not much good tasting bread around here
