La Hacienda de Los Barrios

I think the outdoor seating is quite nice as it gives the place a magical feel. You can tell this becomes a busy place, because there were a lot of people here to eat and the margaritas had to be great, because everyone kept ordering them, laughing, hugging, whether it was our table or other tables nearby. The service was slow. Terribly slow and I can't decide if it was the waiter or if management just didn't hire enough staff. The major disappointment was that the food was just okay. When you consider how tasty the Tex Mex is in San Antonio, just okay isn't good enough. I wish it was not like that, but hey that's the way things are. It wasn't terrible food, but with the slow service and okay food, this is really the type of establishment you visit because of a friend or because you need space for a large group.

This place came recommended to us by some others who wanted to visit it for a group lunch, so we agreed to come along. While driving over, one of our friends noted that all of the reviews he read were about the patio and the margaritas, but nothing about the food itself. We found that a bit odd, but once we arrived, it seemed to be pretty obvious.The restaurant is fairly large and has ample indoor seating, but the patio is clearly where to be during happy hour or dinner on a pleasant evening. They have live music and an outside bar, so if you don't mind lingering for a long period of time, you'll be very happy here.The service is mediocre, which seemed to be due to the fact that there weren't enough waiters outside for the number of people who were dining. It felt like it took forever to get food, drinks, and the check. Even worse, the food was largely forgettable. It was nice, but given the wealth of places around San Antonio serving spectacular Tex Mex, this place kind of fell short.Would I go out of my way to visit again? Probably not. Will I find myself here again because my friends love it? Yeah. Will I be complaining? No, because I'll be smarter next time and stick to ordering drinks.

We decided to come here in a Friday night and we were seated right away. They have indoor and outdoor seating and there is a playground outdoors. Plenty of parking regular Nd parallel is available. They can accommodate split checks in a large party which is nice. They have great margaritas. We got the cheese enchilada and mole plates and both were delicious. We got a side of guacamole that was a generous size and very well made with no fillers. We left very full of great tasting food.

I will agree with many of the comments from other ratings. This is a good place overall, especially for company functions. The food is not that bad and comes out hot. The service is always nice and speedy. The outdoor area is a really nice place to sit and eat lunch with friends or co-workers. My tacos were tasty, but the steak strip was a tad overcooked. In all, I do see myself coming back. Sitting in the patio area and having drinks seems like a nice weekend venture.

I would say that overall this place was good.We had to wait a while to be seated even though there were plenty of tables and not busy in the afternoon. Not enough people working?Waiter was great! Had a beer and my wife had a margarita. Both good- the beer bottle was iced cold!!Food was... good. Not great. I would come back here again but would want to try something g different. Maybe something grilled.Beautiful place - but I felt the food could have been a bit better.

First time visiting this Restaurant. I had high expectations as I have visited several other of the family's restaurants. First, I loved sitting outdoors and was happy to see a playground for kids. For starters I ordered the house Margarita but was disappointed that it tasted as if it had no Tequila in it. For dinner I ordered the Rancho Grande plate it was filling and delicious. Our server was great. I will come back and try other items to eat and drink.

Awesome. Great place. I love the location. Away from the city, but still in the city. Plenty of parking at the rear of the restaurant. Walking to the restaurant, you see a large outdoor patio area. Had live music playing. Really cool to see. Very casual, if you want. You can dress up a bit if you want, it was nice there. Went inside and was greeted right away, the place is clean. From the hostess station, you can see the bar area. There is plenty of seating indoors. They can accommodate a large party if needed. I got the Gran Margarita, oh boy it was good and strong. I also got a Michelada. My favorite. We were a party of 5 and the owner came to see how we were doing. That was cool. I had the chicken mole plate, three bone in pieces of chicken, topped with the mole sauce. The mole sauce was not spicy, but to me I could taste the peanut butter, I'm not sure if this was peanut butter base mole sauce. We also had a hint of cinnamon. It was delicious. Maria had the puffy tacos, one beef and one chicken. She likes getting one of each, so she can taste the chicken and the beef. She's such a foodie, I've created a monster. lol. All in all, I love this place, location, cleanliness, definitely going back.

Great drinks, food and service is spectacular. Definitely will be back!! Outdoor tented area is pet friendly too!

However, the flaming cheese appetizer was a standout--it was delicious! Overall, a great spot for enjoying the outdoors with good food, but could use some improvement on the indoor amenities.

If you want rubber tortillas and no flavor rice, you're at the right place! lol Enchiladas were good.
