Met up with our wonderful friends Robert and Brandy. We had a wonderful evening visiting and discussing the current events of our country, our lives and the future of everything. La Fogata on Austin Highway offered us the perfect location for our monthly gathering. Their world famous margaritas did not disappoint. We all raved about the taste and uniqueness of our chosen dishes. I had the enchiladas verde and beautiful wife enjoying a very tasty and attractive grilled chicken salad. Once again, the four of us had an amazing dinner at an amazing restaurant. I highly recommend La Fogata on Austin highway.

Full disclosure I'm not a die hard fan of Mexican or Tex Mex food. I know, I know. I moved to San Antonio. But I also don't hate it. I attended this location with a large group. Very few people bothered to finish their meals after one bite. One person sent hers back as soon as she saw it. The servers were kind, so no real complaints about that. On to the food. It just wasn't appealing in look & taste. I just didn't like it.

On my trips I like to eat at areas that are not local to where I live. I found this hidden gem La fogata. First let me start off with how great the customer service was. My party of 7 was greeted with a smile and they quickly assembled a table for us. Shout out our servers Jacob and trainee destiny were spot on. They were able to recommend items and provide excellent recommendations for items that were sold of. As we were waiting I noticed every server was attentive to their customers like an elevated restaurant. They made sure the entire table received their food at the same time. I love it. Our chicken nachos were different from what we expected. Each chip had a burst of flavor. Chicken was flavored perfectly. Chicken bean and cheese was very delightful. I ordered the carnitas plate and man let me tell you. The pure size of the portions was enough to fill me up 3 times over. Let's not forget the hand pressed tortillas a definite favorite. The charro beans were a steal I don't know how they made it to pack a punch but it was the first thing I finished. The ambiance of this place was great the Latin music made the sitting experience nice. The lighting was natural and just vibrant enough to make you want to look around. I couldn't get a good picture of the amazing looking cocktails the bartenders were making. My overall review of this establishment is 5 out of 5 would return. I'd say if your in the San Antonio area stop by this restaurant they definitely elevated this cuisine and I hope they continue to do so

Our family often visits the La Fogata on Vance Jackson and love our experience there. We were so looking forward to the La Fogata closer to our home on Austin Highway. It was not horrible but I guess it was not great. I am sure we will give it another try. Some things that were great- quick seating; beautiful ambience; great margaritas. Room for improvement: the menu item: chicken tortilla soup was served as just soup... no crispy corn tortillas or chicken included. When I brought it to the attention of the server he brought out a plate of chicken breast, and some tortillas. So that was ok. Also, our service was going great until another table of 6 sat next to us and then we seemed to be forgotten about sadly. We made it work and asked someone else for refills and for the check.

We are always looking for good Mexican food done a little differently from straight up Tex Mex, and La Fogata fit the bill. Very nice space. I had a trio lunch that let me try some different things with different sauces. It was all delightful!

Came here for a late lunch and to check out this location since I had never been. There was only about 4 other small groups eating in the restaurant, and it's a pretty big space for this corner lot!Our food was great, same quality as you'd expect. It came out fairly quickly and was delicious and fresh. Now the reason why I'm docking 2 stars off is because of the service we received (or didn't) from our waitress. She was very sweet, but she kept disappearing for long periods of time when we needed drink refills and more chips & salsa. Mind you, there was only 3 small groups dining and 1 small group at the bar. It was NOT busy at all. We had a hard time understanding our lack of service.Overall I'm glad I came, but will probably not recommend this place due to lack of service.

The place is nice we had a table of 12 there really wasn't a lot of people at the time but damn the wait time on food was loooong. Very chill environment food is ok not the greatest I personally wouldn't go again everything was fresh and the flour tortillas are great, but the food is a hit or miss if you want real authentic Mexican food avoid this place. Overall it wasn't a bad experience just the food isn't greatest and the wait time was too long for the food. The pozole is not great the crispy tortilla served with it tasted like nothing but grease.

This restaurant is a favorite of my brother and sister-in-law who used to live in San Antonio. This location is one of the newest ones, and it is beautifully decorated. The staff was friendly and attentive. My friend and I started with drinks. My "Smoke on the Water" was quite strong at first, but it turned out to not be well mixed. Our food was absolutely delicious. I don't usually enjoy Mexican rice, but I ate every bite of theirs. The Chile Poblano al Carbon allowed me to enjoy a stuffed poblano pepper, one of my favorites, without any breading. The chicken was tender and delicious as was the rest of the meal. I now understand why this restaurant is a family favorite, and I will definitely visit it again the next time I visit San Antonio.

On January 4, 2025 we held an 80th Birthday party for my step mother at La Fogata. We had a wonderful time hosting over 30 friends and family. Service was excellent and all three foods selections were a hit.The management team, Jen, was courteous and professional doing a great job of coordination. If you have a group event, we highly recommend giving La Fogata a try. Bon appetite!

Writing this review as I sit here with my wife on the patio, drinking the water that I served us. We've been here for about ten minutes and one server has come out to bring the other table their drinks. She's come out to check on them twice already and passes by us making no eye contact. No one has come to help us. We're about to walk out. But not before I finish this water.
