La Fogata Mexican Cuisine

Fist time here. Beautiful Restaurant with plenty of outdoor hill country seating. with a big screen TV. There are outdoor fans, and heaters when needed. The service was amazing, as well, as the food. I like to get the chicken tortilla soup from various places, and let's just say this is by far my favorite one. I was worried due to the location (near the dominion) it would be expensive; however, they were not. I will definitely be coming back, and brining more friends to let them try the food as well.

I have been to the original restaurant many times and enjoyed it. I was looking forward to trying this location but had trouble finding it. Signage is poor in my opinion. So bad that we nearly gave up looking for it. We stumbled upon it by accident as the entrance is down an alley like structure.Upon finding it, we had to decide if we wanted to eat in or outside. They had a wonderful large outdoor deck covered by trees and an outside bar. As it was mid to high 90's, we decided to eat inside.We were taken to our table, handed menus, and told they would be right back. Upon coming back, they brought chips and a delicious smokey salsa. We ordered margaritas and queso flameado to start. When they came back, we ordered our lunch, and I picked the mixed enchiladas (1 each of beef, cheese, and chicken). The plate also came with beans and rice.Warning: if you have more than 1 of their margaritas, bring someone else to drive:)A couple of things about their food: the warm tortillas and the queso flameado are awesome. The salsa - I wish I could make it at home as I would have it with everything:)Both of us enjoyed our lunches. The only problem was that after.eating chips, salsa, and queso flameado, we didn't have much room left for the meal. However, the meals were great too. I just had to have a "to go" bag.I think we arrived at the location about 12:30, and we left after 3:00. Service was excellent, and they didn't try to force us to leave. They were very attentive but not intrusive.Will I return? Definitely, now that I know where it is:)

Haven't been to the area in years but stumbled upon this. It's tucked away behind a real estate firm. What I love is that it is hidden and gives the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a nice drink with a view. I happened to catch the sunset when I went. I'll have to return for the food because we only had drinks. Yet again, it's nice and quiet. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly.

San Antonio has about 100,000 Mexican Restaurants. La Fogata's food offering does NOT stand out. Weak drinks; No music. Our table of 5 was the first to be seated after they opened. Host picked the table inside next to the door to the oven outside. I realized this too late to protest after other diners began entering, letting me have a blast of hot air. Then the waiter gave half-hearted service, dropping by whenever he had a moment to spare.So why go? 1. Big Screen TV (HUGE WALL PANELS) must be great for watching sports; 2. Outdoor seating (nice on rare days when temps drop below 100F June- September)

What an amazing restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area. The food was delicious and highly recommend the Quesadillas and the Ranchero . Service has been one of the best I've experienced. I just recently went through surgery causing me to walk with a cane and needing my service dog with me for assistance. From the moment my husband and I walked in were greeted with smiles. The bartender noticed I was having troubles sitting due to the surgery. Without hesitation he walked away and came back offering me pads so I could be more comfortable. Thank you so much for the great service and we'll definitely be back.

22% added gratuity for split checks and larger party. Ridiculous. We attended a friends birthday dinner, approx 15 people, 4 of which were kids. I've never paid such an over the top tip. If you're going to charge a tip like this then you better make sure the service matches the charge. It wasn't bad BUT certainly not 22% worth. We had to ask for refills throughout, tortillas came as we were finishing our food. There was one waiter to the table and he was overwhelmed. The food was typical tourist Mexican food, nothing special. We won't be back. To top it off, after our meal we went down to the seating area outside. It was only 10:25p and they close at 11p. They turned the lights off!!!! We were just sitting there in the dark! Smh....

Dined in last night. It was really nice. The outside area was beautiful if it wasn't so cold we would have sat outside. Our waiter was excellent! I had the chicken mole and forgot to take a pic before I started digging in. It was good and just the right amount of spice. The tortilla soup was subpar. It was okay I think I will try a different soup next time. My friend had the cheese enchiladas plate and enjoyed it. We will return:)

Chispas are STRONG af!!! Highly recommend !! Yelp requires at least 85 characters so just typing shit to fill space until then... oh there we go.

We loved the vibes of place! Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating, and then there's the half in half out seating, and a yard with games for kids to run around in and leave their parents the f alone.The margaritas- half a drink got my mom white girl wasted. They were delicious and I had 2.5 margs and didn't wake up with a hangover! The food....Sis got chicken mole enchiladas - she says was really dryMom got some sort of fajitas - she says was really watery.My chicken soup was standard good, I glad I saved the limes from my margaritas for the soup though

My husband and I just had a delicious lunch here today. Although I failed to get his name, his service was outstanding. He knew right when we needed him. We didn't have to ask for anything.We each had the cheese enchilada plate, which was as tasty as always. I've eaten at La Fogata since were a little hole-in-the-wall place on Vance Jackson. The food is every bit as good at the new location. I especially love their roasted salsa. We also had queso. Again, perfect!We would have preferred the patio, but it was just too hot and humid. I liked the ambience outside much better, but today the air conditioning won.
