Last night, Hubby suggested visiting @kumorisushi_sa for dinner. Happy hour ends at 7pm. We made it in time and enjoyed a few things from the menu.Dad had Strawberry Lemonade, Hubby had Kyoto Sour, and I had Sake Sangria. Tatiana served us the complimentary miso soup. We had the Edamame and Gyoza from the happy hour menu. We shared the Salmon and Hamachi sashimi, Ikura and Unagi nigiri, San Antonio Roll, and Shrimp Tempura. The sashimi were generous cuts of fish, reminding me of when we were in Myrtle Beach.

Loved this place. The vibes were perfect for date night and the sushi was delicious and freshly made. I was surprised not many people were there, it definitely showed me you can't let the crowd or lack of crowd influence.

Marjan and I foiund ourselves puttering in the Stone Oak area this afternoon, and hungering for sushi, Yelp listings led us to Kumori Sushi and Teppanyaki for lunch. The restaurant is found within the Plaza Shopping complex, midst other eateries and retails. There is parking aplenty, the entirety of the complex more upscale and contemporary. Entering the restaurant, there is a hostess podium fronting the entry, and left of the entry a well stocked bar with seating for patrons. Right of entry are found several tables for diners, the decor contemporary, with soft music playing in the background. The sound level of the restaurant allowed facile conversation with my dear lady. The actual sushi counter is left of the main dining area, with seating fronting the counter. At this lunch hour, there were no diners sitting at the sushi counter. We were immediately greeted by our waitress, agreeable and soft spoken, but unfortunately we noticed she was the only waitress serving 8 tables. The restaurant seemingly short of staff, we anticipated some delay in service, but surprisingly the dear lady was quite on point with her attention to our table. We began our sushi adventure with a pair of pinot grigios and sauvignon blancs, their house wines. Smooth vinos, with soft flavor on the palate...not too dry...not too sweet. As is our desire, we began our exploration of their menu with maguro tuna sashimi. Fresh sashimi...not disappointing in any fashion. Excellent! Next up, their Salmon Fire Roll. This beauty is made of avocado, cucumber and scallions, wrapped with salmon, dressed with spicy mayo and topped with crunchy rice crackers. The roll was a delight, and frankly, we had never tasted the crunchy spheres of rice crackers, but the combination of flavors and textures was something to remember. Still hungering, we ordered the Picasso Roll. This item is one of their more spicy offerings, marked as such on the menu. I viewed this dish with some trepidation, but Marjan, the devotee of spicy foodstuffs was not to be denied. This offering was presented with spicy hamachi, avocado, cilantro, serrano pepper, spicy sauce and ponzu sauce. Sitting atop each slice: jalapeno with a tip of hot sauce. I must admit, the dish was spicy, but curiously, delicious. For Yelpers familiar with the Scoville scale, this dish did not ascend the scale and should not deter the inquisitive, adventurous diner. In truth, Marjan thought the roll just spectacular. There are perhaps two dozen rolls on the menu, with another eight to ten sashimi and nigiri offerings. Of the rolls, many were prepared with cream cheese, tempura and crab, offerings of which we are not fond. There are perhaps eight offerings labelled with their "spicy" emoji. My dear lady is impatient to sample these piquant dishes. We rated this restaurant 4 stars, given the comparison we notice for the outstanding presentation of sushi at Toroko Sushi. (Please see my review of this sushi establishment for context). But for quality of offerings, attention of the staff, we would highly recommend! Enjoy Yelpers!

Service was wonderful! We ordered soooooo many rolls and were too busy eating and drinking wine and sake to take pictures. However, gyoza was yummy, jalapeño roll-bomb. Rainbow roll could use some work-definitely not a normal rainbow roll. Cosmos roll-our favorite! I love a local little spot with a cool vibe and this is it for stone oak! Full bar, nice staff, fun vibe.

We always have a great experience at Komori when we go for sushi. I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. We like to order sashimi, including escolar, sake, and hamachi and they are always fresh and a decent size. The complimentary miso soup is always welcome. On the latest visit we had the Golden Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and San Antonio Roll. I really don't like kanikama, so I am careful to pick rolls without it. Apparently it's much cheaper than real crab, and it makes its way into a lot of their rolls. The Golden Roll is made with with soy paper, tempura shrimp, smoked salmon, white fish, avocado, spicy crab, cilantro, spicy mayo and touch of lime juice. No rice so it's chock full of flavor. The San Antonio Roll is yellowtail hamachi, fresh salmon, avocado, topped with white fish, tuna, masago, avocado and ponzu sauce.Be sure to ask them for their 3 signature dipping sauces in addition to soy sauce.I will skip the hot tea next time as they charge $5.29 for one person, which is a small pot of hot water and one tea bag. And unfortunately their sushi prices have continued to rise rapidly.

Super great experience! Had a super simple and fancy setting with great seating! I also resort to spicy salmon rolls! They had a very tasteful roll! Definitely recommend this as well as the shrimp tempura! The oil they fried in was obviously fresh and the ingredients seemed high quality! The mimosa had a very sour taste, not recommended if you're looking for a simple mimosa but had a very unique flavor if you're looking to try something new! Our server was very friendly and provided quick server!
