J Anthony's is local and delish! So why did I give 3 star? Well let me tell you. Don't let the 3 stars scare you. Try them! You might think it's 5! I get them when I'm craving fried fish, and the food is so good! I can tell the oil is clean because my fish is perfectly golden. The fries are nice and crispy! And they have great appetizers! My mouth is watering thinking about it. Yum!!Oh and tea!!! SO BOMB!! So sweet and perfect. So here's why it's 3 stars: The service! Always the service. This place is a super home-y, like you've been coming here since you were a little stinker! And the ladies up from the restaurant are normally kind of pushy, and yell at you when you're getting your order. If you're not used to the tough love type of service, it could be very off putting. Other than that, it's like part of the J. Anthony's ambiance. The other reason is sometime they forget part of my food :( I always get enough to feed the herd, so it's a lot and they are expensive! I am willing to pay for the food, it's delish, but I would also like to get it all at once. Overall: food is great, service is rough and always check your order before you leave!

want to get together with family and enjoy some fried seafood, this is the place. Found in the south side of town with easy access off the highway. Our go to meal is the fried fish and shrimp. The service is good and there are plenty of tables for seating. We've had several family events in their party room.

Restaurant was freezing. I ordered the grilled red snapper garlic flavor. Side order of salad and steamed vegetables., the snapper was ok but could have been more flavorful. The steamed vegetables were cold. The salad was petite. My partner ordered the jumbo fish burger with fries. It looked delicious.,the fries were good.

Stopped by the restaurant today as I was looking for a fish/seafood place in the area. I ordered the whole fried Mojarra with fries and coleslaw. Let me start with the service. Kudos to the cashier and the server who brought the food out and the busser. They were all very friendly and welcoming! I appreciate the hospitality. Now for the food. The shrimp had a good flavor and would order it again. The whole fried Mojarra was ok and not as flavorful as I have had in the places and the fries and coleslaw were good. Overall it's a solid 3 stars for the food being good and the excellent service provided by all the staff!

Been coming to this place for years, I love how fresh my food is when I get it. I also enjoy the slices of bread that they include with every meal! Nice dine in spot in the south side of San Antonio, I live on the NE side and I go get my fish here so that says something!

This mom and pop seafood place may look a bit shady on the outside but the food is delicious. We ordered a family order and ate in ,had plenty of leftovers and service was great as well place was small but waitress still made it her business to check if we needed anything . It's a definite when in San Antonio . Corpus is definitely missing out .

Yesterday we went to go get dinner and what we got was fish that fell apart easily it was almost inedible it was so gross we had to throw it out. As soon as we picked one up it fell apart it tasted really bad. We didn't go through the hassle of taking it back because my daughter was feeling sick. So we no longer wanted to go back. We basically wasted almost $45 for Tea ,fries, and Mac and cheese which by the way they no longer have the cheesy shells anymore. For being how expensive it is it sucks it was not made right. It's also very disappointing because this is a place we do like to go.
