Honchos - The House Of Churros

Sometimes when that sweet tooth hits hard, you've got to hit back with vengeance! I found this place by accident while driving around and figured I'd check it out. It's a small building with a parking lot and ample space.I walked in and saw a few people in line, which gave me a moment to look over the menu posted on the overhead board. Churros are the signature item here, but they also have two variations; lassos and twine. L Lassos are oddly shaped churros in the shape of a pretzel, while twine is a larger rolled, sprial shaped churro. Best of all, there are nine different sauces from which to choose, from chocolate to condended milk and even almond cream. I kept it simple and got a churro with chocolate sauce. It was delighfully sweet, crispy, and reasonably priced at $3.59. These sweet sensations are worth a try if you've never tried one. So, the next time you venture out and want to satisfy your fix, head over here and grab some churros!

These churros are not any original churros. They are big and are stuffable in the middle. I wish they were more crispy. But they are just too chewy. With the stuffed ones were too sweet and overwhelming. Worth a try.

My friends and I came here around 8:30 pm and it was only drive through so just a heads up if you're visiting a little later at night! I got the Kokomo frizzies for my drink and 1 filled churro with honcho spiced caramel. It only took around 5 minutes for the desserts to come out so the service was nice and fast. The Kokomo is a sweet, refreshing mango drink with coconut cream mixed in. I love how there's chunks of mango but I do wish the coconut cream was mixed in a little better since some sips were all mango while others were just straight coconut cream. As for the churro, this was fantastic. They were freshly made to order- crispy on the outside and warm on the inside with that perfect soft texture. I'm not sure if I tasted much of the spiced caramel but it was still a delicious sweet treat!

Honchos has the BEST churros on the planet! I absolutely love them! They do take a while because they are made hot and fresh, but it is well worth the wait. Their dipping sauces are also amazing, I personally prefer the sweet cream cheese or the caramel. They are always very clean and have friendly staff, and the size for what you pay is well worth it. The only reason I'm removing a star is because our drink hardly had any flavor at all, it mostly tasted like ice. They were starting to get busy so we just dealt with it but going forward I probably won't order any of the frozen drinks or next time I will let them know when there is a problem. Other than that, go on a date, take your kids, or just go be big back all by yourself! LOL

Delicious and hit the spot on a Sunday afternoon. I wish they had a raspberry sauce to add to the chocolate, hint, hint.

Love this place!! So delicious perfect little treat. Currently under construction and all they have is drive-thru which works for me...score!! Now I will say with my half Spanish half Mexican roots they are a little pricey but my American roots totally understands this. lol You get what you pay for and I have no problem with it.

We were visting San Antonio and our place was somewhat close to here. One of our usual traditions when visiting somewhere is we almost never ever visit the same place more than once as there are too many wonderful places to try out in terms of food. But we couldn't resist going TWICE to Honchos, THE HOUSE OF CHURROS *thunder crash*. Perfect mini chubby churros with dipping sauces, totally delicious and absolutely not nutritious.We made the mistake of thinking "Oh it says MINI churros, so let's order a dozen for the three of us." Actually it's more like 2.5 of us as our daughter is only 5 and doesn't eat that much. OH MY GOSH what a mistake, these little mini churros are actually kind of fat and filling, so ordering a dozen was waaaaay too much. I managed to eat maybe 4 of them and that was all I could do.On our second visit, we were a lot smarter and got less of them.Definitely check this place out, the workers were nice, they kept the place clean, and there are a few nice outdoor seats with shade to enjoy it or they have good boxes to take it home.

The worst customer service and experience I've ever had for a catering order. Placed the order in person with 2 weeks in advance for a pickup. I was the dessert sponsor for a customer appreciation event. I requested that I would arrive at 4 for pickup and I arrived at 5 to give them ample time for preparation. Upon arriving they did not have my order ready for 300 mini churros with dips. They needed to be bagged in 3 per bag with dip. No apology or compensation of any kind only that it was a computer error. The churros were greasy and hard. Probably due to making them do fast. I had paid for 3 flavors and I was short in my order. So if you're placing a catering order, beware that this could happen to you. Will never recommend or purchase from them again.

I'm absolutely enamored by the churros at Honchos. I've been to this location numerous times and tried almost all of the different sauces. Their churros are light and airy, perfectly fried to golden perfection. The sauces are epic, from cajeta (my favorite) to cream cheese and dozens in between. The cajeta churros just melt in your mouth. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and helpful, despite this placed always being packed every time I come. The ambiance is welcoming. It's the ideal spot to enjoy a sweet treat in SA with friends or family. The lattes are also great, with the Honcho latte being my favorite. They sometimes have seasonal variations to their churros, from Beetlejuice theme in October to Harry Potter in Nov/Dec. Overall, Honchos House of Churros is the best churro experience I've ever had and is a must-try for anyone visiting San Antonio.
