We were on our way to eat tacos but had to jump through hoops and buildings to get past the construction going on at hilton palacio del rio. We finally got past that one and saw the sandwich sign outside Hola and saw Paella and tapas listed and we were intrigued ...We decided to give them a shot. We rarely have a sitter 2 or 3x a year max. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and decided to have a few tapas - We walked in the guy said we could sit in the tiny room with the bar or at a table in the next room. We chose a table close to a window and the guy came back and said no, sorry mam we need that table. The heck? there was only one other table besides that one being used and that was the ONLY table that i chose that you needed?????I was pissed but i didnt want to make a scene and actually wanted to try this place out. We ordered the shrimp al ajo and scallops. they brought scallops and tuna tartare. .. we got that sent back and brought the other. the sauces were so good we asked for a few more than one piece per person - and in that time we waited for more bread they took our sauce away. the guy was told by our waitress - so he joked we needed to slap his hand next time. We ended up getting more sauce brought to us so we let that go also along with another app I couldnt tell you what it was. -We would come back but maybe clarify where we can sit next time. by each chair . lol. id give 4 stars but the table thing really messed me up.

Great evening of tapas and sangria. Nice tapas menu, wonderful prices. Their A/C leaves a bit to be desired so will definitely time my visits when it is cooler outside. It's an old building and the flimsy HVAC just doesn't work.Sangria was delightful, but slightly overpriced for the quality of the wine used. That being said, the tapas prices were great so that made up for the sangria.Service started out great but trailed off as the restaurant got busier. Took awhile to get our check.

Ok I was immediately seated and the place is clean enough, and it was a pleasure to sit at the counter and watch the talented chefs at work. This is a performance kitchen, and they can't hide any secrets. Listed under "cheese and veggies", even the "asparagus" and "patatas bravas" have meat (ham and chorizo, respectively). I guess I can understand enough Spanish at this point that I low key knew what I was getting into, but the asparagus definitely didn't need that jamon. The tuna was both too meaty and too shredded, and was paired with an unexpected hair, so I didn't manage to finish, and the kind server seemed distracted, so I didn't try to give feedback. Overall I assume Hola gets fresh ingredients on Thursdays, and that I was catching ingredients on their way out, and (based on other reviews) I can assume that their weekend guests get a better show.

Excellent Spanish Tapas!!! One member of our trio is from Sevilla so it was a litmus test for quality of food. He loved the food. Service was great as was the food. We had the escargot. So delicious in a creamy sauce paired with the toasted bread for the sauce. We also had the Gambas al Ajillo. So garlicky and yummy. We also had the seafood paella, delicious but also had small portions of sausage. None of us eat meat so were puzzled by the small chunks of sausage. Otherwise was delicious. Bread with most of the tapas.

This is such a cool little spot. It's walking distance to Hemisfair and has great views of the tower. It's a quaint restaurant with a few tables. We ordered a bunch of tapas and everything was absolutely amazing. The service was so friendly (they greeted us like old friends) but was a little slow so I'll keep that in mind when I go back.

Love this spot! The ultimate girl dinner... tapas! The service here goes above and beyond! Extremely friendly and attentive wait staff. Cute and cozy inside and a really cool outdoor patio as well for when the weather is nice! Food is really good too. My favorites I've tried so far include the charred cauliflower, bay scallops (nonnegotiable MUST order!!), and tuna tartare. So much more on the menu that I want to go back & try! Warning parking might be tricky for you. Cheapest parking (if you can't snag a street parking spot) will probably be parking at Hemisfair Park and walking over. It's close to Hemisfair/Civic Park so it's great place to eat then stroll through that cute area of town!

What a fantastic spot I stumbled upon just a few blocks from the Riverwalk! The perfect place (and ambience) to sample some delicious Spanish and World tapas and Latin American delectable dishes! Insane flavors on these plates...wow! Great atmosphere and lots of tasty beers, wines, etc at the bar. Love the decor (azulejos) and the cool, international vibes...great music to set the mood and prep your palate for what's to come out of a very creative kitchen. Thank you to Marcos for the great hospitality, service and conversation. Hola! is not to be missed while in San Antonio...escape the crowds of the Riverwalk and treat yourself to a relaxing culinary experience full of international flavors in a very welcoming environment.

In town for a long weekend, we wanted to check out something different and flipped a coin to choose between Hola and another restaurant. Thankfully, we landed on Hola. We didn't have reservations and were told that the only seats were at the bar which turned out to be preferable because we were able to watch the chef in action. We started off with the baked cheese and the pork belly. Both were incredible, with the pork belly easily being the best I've ever had. We then ordered a little more, the meatballs and gyoza. The gyoza wasn't anything to write home about but the meatballs were flavorful and a very good portion. We ended with the calamari with black rice. Fantastic. The price was very reasonable (under $50) for two people, the food was awesome and we have every intention of going back next time we're in town.
