We've gotten food from here twice, once to-go and once eat-in, and both times it was phenomenal! I've gotten their ramen both times, but I got different types. Both of them were simply awesome, with deeply flavored broth, fresh toppings, perfect noodles, and tender meat. We have also tried their chicken teriyaki bowl, yakisoba with chicken, potstickers, edamame, miso soup, and spring rolls. We have loved everything except the spring rolls, which were a little on the mushy side on the filling for us. This is definitely one of our new favorite restaurants.I also love that I can get hot green tea, which comes with 1 free refill! It was delicious, with those light earthy notes that define a good green tea, and it had lots of flavor without being bitter or grassy. We haven't tried their dessert, but that is next on the list!

I first went to the other Hoka Hoka location a few years ago and was still feeling regret about not getting the Katsu (I got a ramen dish and had big time regret when I saw other tables getting delicious looking Katsu). When this location opened up closer to us, I was so glad that I could finally get redemption and order the Katsu. The bento style dish is huge and I could have easily split it into two meals but if you are really ambitious, you can finish most of it in one sitting. The Katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. There are accompaniments of miso soup, cabbage salad, pickled veggies, and hand ground sesame. After thinking of the Katsu dish for more than a year, I am pleased to say that it lived up to the hype in my head and I would gladly go back.

The food was okay. I liked it, but it was not anything I'd go back for. I ordered the mixed yaki soba. The only thing with the service is that, when I had walked in. It was a party of two, and the lady insisted we HAD to sit at the bar (which by the way is not a sushi bar, it is just a bar table but just a wall front of you). We politely asked to sit at a table as there were many open, and she acted as if it was a math equation. Eventually, a lady just told her it was okay, and we got to sit. Average place.

Excellent service. Our first set of items came within 15 minutes. The entire staff was attentive and courteous. Price-to-portions were good and the the dishes were deliciously consistent with Japanese cuisine.4 stars for this location. When you need something different from the typical Asian restaurants nearby, this place hits the spot.

My son and I thought to try out this cute spot that's right around the corner from our house, for lunch today. The hostess/waitress was so super inviting and friendly. It already made the atmosphere amazing just walking through that door. I love the way this place was decorated and that the kitchen was kind of open. You could see them cook from the front of the register and you could also tell how well kept everything was in the kitchen and that is so important to me. My son tried the teriyaki chicken and I had a spicy beef Ramen bowl. We also indulged in the spring rolls and everything was fantastic. We will definitely go back to try more of their tasty dishes.

I stopped in on many recommendations and was so glad I did. Such a cute space, great service and super clean bathrooms! I will go back and take my guy. The food was hot and fresh and I got a nice tutorial on how to use all my sauces.

I was excited to hear a Japanese comfort food spot was opening on this side of town. Typically, I wait a few months to try out a new restaurant, but I was craving ramen and went a week after they'd opened with some of my family. The interior was sleek and captured the vibes well. With how they decorated, you don't feel like you're in a shopping center. The portions are healthy for the price points, and the plating and presentation of each dish were thoughtful. My family had the pork katsu set, the shoyu ramen, and the chicken teriyaki rice bowl. I had the Shiro ramen, which hit the spot. However, the broth's flavor felt like it was missing something I've had in other tonkatsu bases. The service was good, and the server we had was kind enough to explain how to grind the sesame for the ton katsu set. I've had katsu curry at other restaurants, but they have never included the sesame topping. The table settings are only napkins with chopsticks, but they have standard utensils on request if you're dining with a child like I was. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but we are hoping to try that next time!

Hoka Hoka Fuku is my most favorite ramen shop in San Antonio. I would even travel the 50 minutes to get there so I was so stoked when they were opening a Live Oak location, only 10 minutes from me! I kept stalking their Instagram page to see when they will open and hallelujah, they're open and I've gone a handful of times already.Location is great right off 1604 with plenty of parking. The restaurant is bigger with lots more seating than their Bandera location. It's also brighter.Service is great as usual. Food comes out quick, hot and delicious. My go to is the Kuru Fuku ramen and I make sure to get the spicy umami sauce on the side for $1 extra. I also enjoy their tsukemen and kurobuta katsu. My hubby enjoys their Aka Fuku ramen. Our usual appetizer is the chicken karaage and pan fried gyoza. Everything is so good you can't go wrong with any item on their menu!

Tried our Hoka Hoka Fuku on a Sunday evening and despite the unusual time- the place was packed! An immediate good sign. Service definitely took a little longer than we'd hoped (out of the three main dishes ordered, all three came out at different times with about 5 minutes of wait time between each). Regardless, once food was received everything was a solid choice! Fan favorite of the table were the kani fries, doesn't sound like it was going to be stellar but we have a knack for ordering fries at Asian restaurants just to see how they are, and holy cow these are the best I've had yet! The flavor of the crab on the perfectly hot and crispy fries was a flavor burst I'd yet to experience and will certainly crave from now on. The yakisoba and chashu don were good, but probably wouldn't order again with other better items on the menu. The ebi katsu was great! The texture and cook ok the shrimp was so perfectly light and fluffy, and the accompanying items (of which, there are a lot!) were just as great too. We rounded it all off with the Japanese cotton cheesecake and that was another solid choice. Tasting exactly like you'd expect cheesecake too, but with the most airy mouthfeel. A few extra thing:This location does not offer alcohol at the moment, which may sway some people if they'd like that with their meal. Additionally, while the place is quite small you don't feel too packed in and everything is decorated really cute! Worth a visit in my opinion.
