Came here for a birthday celebration to try out this restaurant and it was a huge hit. The restaurant is located at La Cantera and this particular building has changed names a few times over the years but hopefully this one will stick around. I had the meatloaf with Brussels sprouts & broccoli and it was very different than what I was expecting. Better, much better than your typical meatloaf. This one had a smoky flavor and was more like a steak in presentation than the crumbling meat dish that it's known for. It's a winner for sure. Other dishes ordered included the chicken fried steak and I was told the jalapeño gravy was amazing. The filet was tender and cooked to a nice med rare and would say above average in taste but for the price maybe a little overpriced. If you stick to the non-steak options then you should be satisfied with the value here. Make sure to top off your dinner with the whiskey cake with ice cream. It is big enough to share but good enough to eat by yourself. The atmosphere was relaxed with a western classy look to it. Nice chairs and tables with a good looking bar scene, in case you want to just kick back and chill. Our server was spot on and kept our glasses full during our dinner so he gets a golden star for service.

Not Worth the Hype or the $250 Price TagI had high expectations for Haywire, especially given the $250 Cowboy Feast, but unfortunately, the execution was a huge letdown. To be clear, service wasn't the issue, our waitress did a solid job under the circumstances. However, the bar was painfully slow, taking 10-15 minutes just for a single pour of bourbon, long after the cocktails had arrived. The real problem? The steaks. We ordered the feast medium rare, yet what came out was completely inconsistent:- The wagyu tomahawk was rare, barely cooked past a sear.- The strip was medium well at best, a total overcook.- The filet was also rare, nowhere near medium rare. For a steakhouse that prides itself on premium cuts and top-tier service, I expected much better attention to detail. The steaks were sliced before being served, so the kitchen should have clearly seen that they weren't cooked properly, but they sent them out anyway. To make matters worse, when we brought this up to the manager, they simply threw the already-sliced steak back on the grill for a quick fix. At this price point, nearly $600 for the meal, I expected more than just tossing a ruined steak back on the heat. A premium experience should come with premium service and accountability, not just a halfhearted attempt to patch up the mistake.By that point, some of our party had already started eating because we didn't want to wait even longer for the food to be fixed. That shouldn't have happened in the first place. On top of that, the sides were served without any serving utensils, meaning everyone had to use their personal forks... a minor issue, but not something I'd expect at this price point. And please, try to tell me again how the steak is "medium rare" and not straight-up rare/blue.At this price, we shouldn't have to choose between undercooked and overcooked steak. If you're going to charge top dollar for a premium experience, the kitchen needs to be on point. Unfortunately, it wasn't. At least the vibes were vibing.

Haywire is a great new addition to the La Cantera dining scene. It is a contemporary cowboy themed, "Texas" cuisine, chain restaurant based out of Dallas. The menu is " Farm to fork" inspired with dishes ranging from waygu steak, baby back ribs, blackened catfish, chicken fried steak to meatloaf. There are choices to satisfy everyone, but the ranch raised beef dishes are the stars. Haywire offers lunch, happy hour, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. I've dined here for both brunch and dinner. The food and service have been consistently great. Dinner is good, but I think I'm more a fan of their brunch menu. There's so many delicious selections and the atmosphere is excellent.Haywire is perfect for any occasion and I definitely recommend giving it a try. It's a popular place so, make sure to make to reservations!

We came here on a Wednesday for lunch. The restaurant is so much nicer than the menu prices suggest. We didn't have reservations and were sat right away. We came back on a Saturday for dinner with reservations and highly recommend that. The restaurant is at a mall, so there is a ton of parking. On the weekends, parking isn't as easy, but they do have valet for $10. You pay through a text link, but it doesn't have Apple Pay. The first time we came, we sat downstairs and had the smoked fried chicken and the meatloaf. Both were incredible. The second time, we sat upstairs and I got the western burger and my wife got the Cesar salad. Both were great, but the burger was really messy. Downstairs was really nice, but a little loud. Upstairs was more intimate and quieter. They have an elevator, but it was out of order when we came for the second time. On both visits, our servers were great and really seemed to know the menu and care about service

First time at Haywire.....wow...impressive design & decor. Love the rustic feel yet classy chandeliers. So fun to see the wait staff dress western....The menu is impressive! Has something for everyone, including an impressive wine/spirits menu. Our server was over the top informative and so sweet. Not sure if this was the norm but they brought our table the Chef's Favorite Appetizer dish. It had there amazing fried onion rings, fried green tomatoes, blanco queso with chips and elk mini tacos. I ordered the Texas Farm-raised Redfish with Brussels Sprouts. My husband had the Beef Meatloaf which was 2 meals ...could only eat half of the huge portions. Highly recommend this place.

Going haywire for Haywire, tried out this new steakhouse at La Cantera for Valentines night and reserved via OpenTable well in advance so arriving on time my wife and I were seated without hesitation. Let's discuss the service, the staff is friendly and our waiter was very informative on recommendations however it did take about half an hour from being seated to get our cocktail where a star falls on my review. Now let's discuss the food, I ordered "The Judd" for its Smokey whisky presentation, unfortunately due to a non working burner it was a lengthy process and the old fashion itself was ok nothing to rave about smooth more watered than I anticipated and as for my wife's Midnight Marfa, that cocktail was spot on, prefect blend of liquor and sweetness I do recommend it! Now for the food, the Branding Iron Rings was amazing, perfect crispy breading to the generous portion of onions and paired nicely with the chipotle ranch we were big fans! Now the entree, we split the 18oz Bone In Ribeye, requested it medium well, received it well a little too grilled for my taste and had some fat within the cut which was an ok steak, a bit dry. The sides we ordered were the Mac and cheese, rather dry, whipped mash potatoes, now those were good nice and buttery and the corn bread which was amazing soft, melt in your mouth and hint of sweet. For desert we ordered the Whiskey Bread Pudding, sweet cinnamon sugar with warm buttery goodness topped with vanilla bean ice cream made for a great end to our dinner. The steakhouse is decorated with a elegance western rustic interior, setting for more casual atmosphere than I anticipated. Overall, I do recommend you give it a try for yourself to see what Haywire has to offer.

They declined to seat my party of two without a reservation but invited me to find seats at the bar. You would think I would be mad but the hostess was courteous and sincere. Guys it was crazy busy on a Monday night, I can't imagine what kind of nightmare it is on Friday and Saturday. Anyway, it was a good first impression. The chef's appetizer plate for $22 was a good price to try four appetizers. Big chunky onion rings, good chips n queso, fried green tomatoes, and (yuck) elk tacos. Still a good deal if you wind up not liking the elk tacos. I had the tortilla soup, tastes like enchiladas sauce, more creamy than brothy. It is good and has a spicy kick, I have had better but it is good. I had the cobb salad for my entree, tasted good and was decent size. Liked the signature house vinaigrette they use. I had a cazadores "margarita in marfa" which was strong and gave me a relaxing attitude after sipping over my food. Dessert tonight was the carrot cake, it was a little dry, not the best I have had. Will try something else next time.

They really did well with their design and decor. Reminded me of a large home in Boerne, just had that great feel. Cowboy meets glam! Drinks whoever was making them for Sunday brunch was on a vibe to make sure everyone walked out happy!! They packed a punch. The food was okay. Didn't really care to take pics. I would still come back. Our waiter seemed a little overwhelmed. But I would come back, give them another shot once they've gotten things down!!
