We bumped into this food truck at a coffee event and decided to try out some of their sides- fries and fried zucchini!Pros- the lady who served us was super sweet- clear and easy to read menu (wish they had pictures though)- fried zucchini comes with regular or spicy ranch!- the fries could be seasoned as spicy or not spicy, and it came with a side of ketchup ready to go- the presentation of the food made it super easy to grab and eat/share- they accept card or cash - we didn't wait long for our foodCons- the fried zucchini was a bit mushy on the inside, and it was a relatively small portion for $4

Rating: 3.5/5 After a long day @ the Good Vibrations Festival in the Sunken Garden Theater, they were only our of fried zucchini. Good sign. Always hate when food trucks sell out, though it is understandable. Friendly employees, ready to answer any questions regarding the menu. What did we choose tonight? *Fried Mushrooms were unsatisfying. Slacking on flavor, breading overpowered. *Southwest Turkey Melt Sandwich, full of creative ingredients. Avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pico de gallo, and even some kettle chips! Turkey was tasty deli thin cut, flavors came together well. Texas Toast was grilled with the right amount of butter an oil (you know how often places serve it drenched in oil!). I will say that the cheese was a little firm and the sandwich a little lukewarm for a "melt". Chose *Potato Salad as the side, which was tastier than expected; appreciated that there was not as much mustard or vinegar as most. *Mushroom Swiss Burger ironically had cheese that was far more melted than the Turkey Melt. Which was awesome, of course. Fresh and flavored sliced mushrooms (unlike them fried ones), a tasty fat patty (moist, tender, maybe a little extra flavor needed), and buttery, slightly sweet buns. Overall excellent. Came with *Fries, which were satisfactory; some were burnt and dry. Dessert was a *Fried Twinkie with Raspberry Drizzle. Oh, it was heavenly.

So we are lucky that the Gypsy diner came to our apartment complex so we decided to give them a try. They had us at with the cream puff crepes! Made with mascarpone cream cheese drizzled with raspberry and chocolate, it was what elevated our rating to five stars. I asked for a vegetarian option and they made one on the fly and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend had their burger and gave it a 7/10. Definitely will eat here in the future.Gypsy diner came back to visit us and again they did not disappoint. My boyfriend had the Baja Turkey sandwich and gave it a 9/10; he was thoroughly impressed with the flavor even despite it being on the spicy for him (we are kind of pansies when it comes to spicy food). I had the same vegetarian option; it comes with sautéed vegetables, cheese, dressing of your choice in a spinach tortilla. I really like it how customizable these orders can be and how flexible they are. Ultimately the best part is quality control. I know we've only eaten their food twice, but so far I can say they are pretty consistent with the quality and flavor of their food. Would've taken a picture of the Baja turkey but it was scarfed down :P

The place where I live is starting something new where they have different food trucks come out on a weekly basis. This week's food truck was Gypsy Diner. I admit that I had no idea what type of food they were serving with a name like that. I was thinking Greek, Indian, or Italian. Actually it is just good old fashioned diner food that you find almost anywhere. They have hamburgers, pork chop sandwiches, patty melts, wraps, but on this day I went with the Reuben sandwich. You get your choice of sides with a sandwich and I went with the spicy fries. I was a bit surprised because this Reuben was overflowing with meat. Not so much that it was a meat sandwich but it was a hearty amount. The rye bread had a nice toast and It was nice the way the onions and sauerkraut was cooked with the meat. Many places put the kraut on cold but they cooked it all together with the corned beef. The spicy fries were spicy as the name says. This is not one of those items where you read spicy and say yeah right. It was a nice little kick that had me thinking they were not joking when they called them spicy. I was impressed at how quick my order came out since the people in front of me ordered things that were completely different. Their multitasking skills are greatly appreciated.

Had a great experience with Gypsy Diner at the McNay Museum while enjoying their Spring Break event the other day. Whom I assume to be the owner was sooo sweet and helpful (with me having my hands full with 3 girls). The food was DELICIOUS! And not super expensive. I am HUGE on fried pickles & I try them everywhere I go. Hers are phenomenal! Thick coin chips and so tasty!! I also had the Ruben, which was so yummy!! (Another fav of mine). My girls split a pork chop sandwich that they said was really really good!!! (And I have one super picky kid, who said it was delish!!!) I hope to come across this truck again in the future!!!
