Granny's Tamales San Antonio

I ordered 6 "traditional" sized with pork and 6 cream cheese/jalapeno/chicken. They were moist, flavorful, and all ingredients well balanced.Masa: moist, not grainy, did not stick to foil, mild corn taste. Masa looks thick but is so tender, it melts in your mouth.Masa to meat ratio: about 50/50Pork: finely ground but still strands of meat and moist and great pork flavor. You know it's pork.Cream cheese/chicken: this was my favorite. Slightly spicy from the jalapeno, very finely minced chicken and smooth creamy cheese. You are not eating this one for the chicken; the blending of the spicy cream cheese with the masa is the experience you will remember.These folks can usually be found peddling tamales from their restaurant in corpus Christi. They are licensed to peddle in San Antonio and all the adjoining cities. They can usually be found at 5616 Walzem Road one or two days a week. Check their Fb page for schedule. The tamales here showed me why I should start eating them every year around this time. I ordered the chicken, bean/cheese, & the jalapeño/bean dozens and it turned out to be a good investment. Prompt service and a friendly staff. Although it was confusing to find this place in a store front rather than a food truck(category), the tamales were hot and delicious.

The chicken jalapeño cream cheese tamales are the best tamales I have ever eaten. Once you have these you seriously won't want any others. They go out to farmers market as well which is awesome. I get mine at legacy on Saturdays which is off 1604 and 281 from like 10-2. Highly recommend and they are always friendly with great customer service.

You said nothing about not delivering to homes and you called one and a half hours before the scheduled delivery! That's unreasonable and unacceptable.And if there was the possibility that you were going to deliver early, you should have let me know when I placed the order. Even on Saturday, you could have called, texted, or messaged WAY before you did. You waited until the very last minute and then bailed.When I noticed TWO calls and ONE voice mail, I returned the call. You immediately asked if you could call me right back. Twenty-six minutes later you called me back with so many excuses. Excuses are nothing more than a reason to fail.You stated you tried to call from Montgomery Rd. If that was true, you were actually on the way to my house. AND, you would have been to my house BEFORE you could even have made 12 calls. You were 3 (or less) minutes away! On the phone you were fast and loose with excuses, speaking very rapidly, and so loud that others in the room could hear you even though you were not on speakerphone. This situation was not my fault and you didn't even offer to make it right."But this business is not a store front its mobile and it is different."Mobile = Delivery. If you're already mobile, delivery shouldn't be an issue. Fantastic tamales. In fact some of the best I've found in San Antonio. Moist and tender with a bit of heat. The chicken, jalapeño and cream cheese tamales are addicting. Watch their schedule for their food truck in San Antonio as this is the only way to purchase for right now.

Seriously the BEST EVER!!!! Love the regular tamales, but the Chkn, jal and cream cheese is to die for!
