Gorda Bakes

Back story - Me and my two girl friends wanted an evening to celebrate our wins that week. One of us got a bonus, one of us had a successful week of planning, and one of us received a job offer. For our social distance meet up we each brought something, champagne, glasses and me - "fancy cake"! It was the theme of our night "fancy cake"! I had warned the girls that we were going to be having Oreo tres leches cupcakes, which for any San Antonio native that already sounds mouth watering. We get there, set up and I nonchalantly open the box. There was gasp, there was screeches, there was literal tears (the happy ones). After weeks of being cooped up and not having any interaction, these cupcakes were a physical emotion overload. When I tell you the details on presentation alone were just ... perf. The gold flakes embodied our celebratory night. The sprinkles was the mix of our unique friendship. And the pipet of creamy goodness was a toast to good things coming our way. On to the cakes (don't hate me for the build up) - Delicious. Moist. Extravagant. Crowd pleasers. They are served best cold (obviously). The inside is a yummy juicy cake sponge with a lot of flavor, then if you dare squeeze the pipet of extra tres leches it's even more delicious succulent. The icing is a lightly fluffed Oreo flavor. It's legitimately perfect. The saying, "icing on top of the cupcake", comes from this icing. The sprinkles, Hershey's kiss, pipet, extra love, etc that was placed on top was all a special touch from the Gorda Bakes herself. She knew we were celebrating and wanted to make it special and unique for us. For that alone - 5 stars. Two hand claps. And a standing ovation. Be gorda. Be great. Can't wait for my next order.

I'm very disappointed. The owner did not answer her phone number listed. We looked for the location of the shop, but it seems to be non-existent. Bummer, we were looking forward to buying a cake for someone's birthday. I would not recommend this place if this happens again.

Absolutely incredible baker, taste is amazing and they are so beautiful too! If you want an exceptional cake, with amazing flavors this is the Baker to call, Her variety and creativeness as well as customer service are top notch as well.

If you need a cake that taste just as good as it looks then you need Gorda Bakes in your life. I messaged Vicky to order for my boyfriend's birthdays as well as my kids birthday. I really had no idea what I wanted but she asked a few simple questions and created two amazing orders for us. For my boyfriend she made banana cake pops with a cream cheese fill, peanut butter coating, and crush nutter butter. For the kids she did a Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk infused cake and decorated it so beautifully. She even took care of finding the cake topper for me which was much appreciated. As I mentioned before, these cakes tasted just as good as they look!

We have gotten lots of cakes and have LOVED every single one of them. The banana cream cake with vanilla wafers and caramel is the best cake we've ever had. For sure get as much as you can from Gorda Bales, you won't regret it!
