Besides the amazing, friendly, funny, helpful staff. The food was DELICIOUS!!! The huevos rancheros with brisket...ummmmm....OMG!! I'll take some of that brisket by the pound!! They know what their doing with that Brisket. The guisada was delicious as well. Served with some well made potatoes, what seemed like homemade tortillas and the ranchera sauce had a good kick, great flavor and good coffee! It's basically a local shop. Small. Minimal seats and gets crowded fast, but so worth the visit!!!! Wish we stayed longer to visit more than once.

Top 3 Tex-Mex in the entire city (and that's saying a lot)!!!Enchiladas are 9.5!!Wait staff is amazing and on top of it at all times.Definitely try the brisket nachos!Amazing!

The bbq spot we hit last night recommended Garcia's for their breakfast tacos, and after visiting, I can see why. This local spot is known for their brisket tacos! It was a short drive outside the downtown area but it was totally worth it. Looks like it's a family-owned restaurant with a cozy dining space with service. Each strip of brisket in the tacos are nearly 2 oz and when I saw an option for the brisket plate with 6 oz, I switched it up and didn't regret it. The plate including tortillas, beans, and rice, I was able to make my own tacos!Delicious delicious. Great recommendation for a Texas breakfast.

My friend took me there describing this place as having the best brisket taco. I didn't have a taco but a brisket sandwich and I must say that it was excellent. They're only open until 2 pm so plan accordingly. Many people had called ahead to pick up their order. The inside was tight & crowded however it didn't matter. Our waitress Victoria provided great service. When I'm in the area, this will be my stop in spot for brisket.

The brisket taco made the 2024 New York Times top 23 dishes.If you've had it you'll know why. Simply outstanding. My neighbor introduced Garcia's to me a couple of years ago and we frequently go there to grab some breakfast. The go to is definitely the brisket taco, however any taco you get will be very good. I really have friend several and have liked them all. Chorizo and potato with cheese is a stand out as well. Hot sauce is great! I like both the green and red.

It is good food but not out of this world. I think next time I will just order the brisket taco and not the plate. This place gets busy but they will get your name and number and call you when your table is ready.

Upon entering, a step back in time with great service and food reminding me of an original old San Antonio small family owned restaurant. I had doubts about the brisket taco but pleasantly surprised. The cheese enchiladas parallel the many rave reviews, made with cheddar, they rival any though my preference is American cheese. The red salsa, better than most which is extra spicy. Looking forward to my return!

Now I see why there's a line out the door at lunch time....First time here. Small mom and pop hole in the wall joint. Great service but even better food. The cheese enchiladas with chili con carne were delicious. Lemonade was homemade. Tortillas were definitely homemade and were so good - I ate a few. Highly recommend and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu

I love coming into this quaint old school Mexican restaurant just north of downtown. They have been in their current location since 1970. The service here has always been excellent and the food is consistently good and comforting! I especially love the brisket tacos and that's what they are known for. I also love the carne guisada tacos here as well. The barbacoa tacos are very delicious as well. You can go wrong stopping by for breakfast here!

I saw Garcia's on a blog post when I was searching for authentic Mexican food and this restaurant was awesome. They do close at 2pm and we just made the cut off... absolutely LOVED the brisket taco with guacamole.One of the Garcia's was there and she was absolutely a delight to speak to. We explained that we had traveled far from home and wanted authentic Mexican food and were beyond thrilled to make it.I can't emphasize how thoroughly impressed I was with not only the quality, but portion sizes were great as well. I am so glad that I found this hidden gem. This place should NOT be missed!
