Floria's Pizza: Where the Pizza is Huge, the Pace is Fast, and the Attitude is 100% New YorkVenturing into Floria's Pizza for an Italian sandwich is like walking into a steakhouse and ordering the fish--bold move, but sometimes curiosity wins.First things first: if you're stepping up to the counter, know your order--these New Yorkers have no time for hesitation. They're busy crafting pizza the size of your coffee table with an efficiency that would make Papa John's jealous. The atmosphere? Pure NYC, conveniently parked on San Antonio's Broadway Street. Now, about that Italian sandwich... It was good. Not "write-home-about-it" great, but solidly good. My husband, who once lived just a few blocks away, never even considered ordering it--so naturally, we had to try. Would I return specifically for it? Probably not. Would I eat it again if my husband dragged me back? Absolutely.Moral of the story: Come for the pizza. Stay for the experience. Hesitate at the counter at your own risk.

UPDATE: DEFINITELY STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT A SIDE OF POLITICS WITH YOUR PIZZA. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE 1-STAR REVIEWS.After submitting my original review below, I read a few of the one star reviews, and downgraded my original review to 1-star as well. Please read through them...It is now apparent where the terrible staff gets their attitudes. I've attached a screenshot.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I'm sure the pizza will be fine. However, we definitely won't be back, and here's why...The restaurant is difficult to find, especially if you park in the lot just off Broadway. It's actually located at the back of the building and there are three doors -- two of them locked and blocked inside with dirty trash cans, and no signage telling you where the actual entrance is located. Signage near the front of the building directing patrons to the back would be helpful.Once we made it into the restaurant to pick up our pizza that we had ordered online, the space itself is run-down and dirty and has an overall grubby feel to it.It also seemed the employees are more concerned with watching videos on their phones, rather than actually noticing when guests were waiting. We walked in to a virtually empty restaurant with one man as a cashier, and two cooks -- all in matching black and red uniforms; and one girl in zebra yoga pants standing behind the counter with her back turned toward the door, intently watching a video playing loudly on her phone. We stood within a foot of her for for several minutes without so much as a glance from her. When she finally paused and asked for the name on the order, she grabbed the pizza, tossed it onto the counter, then quickly grabbed her phone to resume her watch party. It felt like we were inconveniencing her, and she barely even looked in our direction, let alone said, "hello," or "how can I help you." It seems this restaurant has also succumbed to the new trend of terrible, indifferent customer service and employees who have jumped on the trend to "quietly quit" by doing as little work as possible, so they don't get fired. With so many competitive pizza places nearby we won't be back. At a pick up spot like this, we weren't expecting 5-star service, but basic, common courtesy is a must...especially considering I was expected to tip BEFORE actually receiving the pizza.Shocking this place has managed to stay open as long as it has.

New York style pizza commands a certain reverence even outside the Big Apple. So, being able to enjoy one in San Antonio fosters s degree of appreciation. I found Florios courtesy of a google search and had a craving for some good pizza. So, I decided to take the plunge on a Friday night! This place is situated conveniently close to the street at a small commericial suite and lot parking is available. When I walked in I immediately noticed the old school black and white tile flooring, which gave off a vibe of an ole fashioned pizzs parlor. There were plenty of NY references on display, which gave off an aura of legitimacy. It was pretty busy and there was a small wait, so I took a seat at the counter. An older man, presumably the owner, asked me what I wanted and I replied "two slices with mushrooms." In addition to pizza, they have subs and calzones. I wound up waiting roughly 25 minutes for my slices, which is the basis for the omission of a star; however, when they did arrive I was not disappointed. The crust was crisp and baked well, while the cheese and sauce were distributed evenly and not in excess. The pizza here is the real deal and the service is respectable, if not efficient. Was it worth the wait - absolutely!

Cashier did NOT clean hands before handling food. Just went in and the guy working the front register went to clean tables, then came back and without washing his hands cut my chicken parm sandwich in half, picked it up to adjust then wrap it. Eewwwwwwwww. Clean your hands or put gloves before touching food.

Best pizza in my opinion in SA. The owner is from Jersey where I'm from. I recommend this place because the pizza is like back in Jersey. If you get a chance go there and they also have Sicilian pizza. If you're from the Northeast you know what it is.

Have been coming since I was a little girl and I think I speak for a lot of us that it's definitely not the service that keeps you coming back. The pizza is good enough to deal with the unfriendly staff that make you feel like you, the paying customer, are intruding on them. I normally don't leave reviews and I love the food at Florio's but tonight my cannoli tasted off then a couple more apprehensive bites in, I discovered a considerably sized piece of onion skin in the filling. Killed my sweet tooth to say the least. It's not like when a spaghetti noodle ends up in your rigatoni dish. ONION. in. my. cannoli. Makes me wonder, did whoever made the filling use a dirty bowl that held sliced up onions? Now if the service here was amazing, or even if it, at the very least, had a mildly approachable staff, I'd immediately chalk it up to a mistake and it wouldn't affect my opinion of the restaurant at all. Hell, I might even tell a coworker in the morning to make small talk. But instead I'm now one of those people writing a stupid review because not only are y'all mean, you ALSO gave me AN ONIOJ FLABORED CANNOLI and now I don't have my sweet treat. Pizza was delicious though. When enough time has passed maybe I'll come back for the pizza.

Haven't been here for quite a few years. Was very glad to see it still open. Hands down, best pizza outside of NY. (Chicago "pizza" is a casserole.)Prices are great, service is better. Parking can be a bit of a pain, but not terrible.
