We drove all the way from Dallas to try this place out... BIG mistake. Although the waitress was very friendly the food was not good. : ( we ordered the Pombazo, tacos de tripa, carnitas, fajitas, pollo and agua frescas de melón. My tripas were burnt. My pambazo had a long curly hair. The tables were mangled and the chips were greasy.I highly recommend you keep driving somewhere else to eat.

My brother recommended this place since he works nearby . When you first arrive in front of the restaurant you realize there is not much parking. If you take a glance further down , you might notice a sign for additional parking. I was greeted by a friendly wait staff. The inside was full so I waited outside at a table until one cleared inside. First thing I noticed was the veneer was coming off in a few spots on the table. I went to wash my hands before eating and the restrooms were 8/10 for cleanliness. My tea was ready when I returned to the table and two bottles of salsa were placed near the chips. I ordered my food after a recommendation from the waitress. ( Erik's Huarache de Asada)A poorly cleaned salsa bowl was placed in my chip basket and I set it aside hoping they would give me a new one. My food came and I was given no fork for 5 minutes after I was asked if I had a fork on the table. I saw a previous review that there would be hot dogs in my borracho beans, so i wasn't surprised by it. The flavor was good though. I did find some "bacon" or ham at the bottom. The main meal was very pleasing to the eyes. The flavor of the Huarache de asada was flavorful. It's a long corn tortilla with beans , lettuce , onions, cilantro, meat, drizzled with green sauce and sour cream.

Notes: Ate here based on a recommendation from a friend that used to live in the area.Rating - 4.25Score - 25.5/30--Apps: 4.5/5 - Chips and salsa. Not a purchased app. Comes when you are seated, along with two large squeeze bottles of salsa: one red (1/10 spicy) and one green (4/10-creeps up). Chips were a little thick, but good for scooping. Salsa was light and everything you expect from an authentic Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant.--Drinks: 5/5 - Mexican Cokes. We ordered "Cokes" and the waitress brought us Mexican Cokes (bottled/cane sugar) and cups of ice. Although there are two different Cokes on the menu (Mexican and cans), there is also a slight price difference. Since we prefer the taste of Mexican Coke, we didn't mind, but would prefer it was clarified (more of a service issue than an issue with the actual drink) prior to the open bottle being placed in front of us.--Entrees: 3.5/5 - Enchilada plate, Cheese Quesadilla, Asada con Rajas y Queso. Authentic Tex-Mex food. Enchilada plate was a little on the bland side; lacking that oomph from flavor. Cheese Quesadilla was as to be expected. The asada was juicy and flavorful, but literally only had jalapenos and cheese. No onions or anything (perhaps finely diced and cooked with the asada as a whole, but indiscernible in the actual dish). Rice and refried beans were good; not great, but good.--Service: 3.5/5Didn't get all of our food (missing an additional side of rice that we ordered a la carte). Had to ask several times for multiple items (3x for a small glass of water). Waitresses were polite and food came fairly quickly. Downside was mostly attention to detail (large details at that...).--Building: 4/5Definitely a hole-in-the-wall style restaurant. Typical Tex-Mex decor. Most of the wall decor consisted of advertisements for the snack shop next door (same name). Enough seating for about 10 parties of 4. Table was kind of wobbly, but high chairs are available for infants/toddlers. Score based on being a typical Tex-Mex restaurant.--Value: 4.5/5Value was on par with your average Tex-Mex restaurant in the area. Cost for 2 adults and 1 child was approximately $31. Checks are handwritten, so it's a bit hard to verify what you are being charged for.

The food was so good. I will be back. Only got 4 stars because you have to ask for the cheese. The servers were super friendly and service was quick. I also recommend the enchiladas they were the best I've had in San Antonio.

If you like rude wait staff and cheesy microwavable food this is your place, if not steer clear. The queso was just cheese melted in a cup and the enchiladas were chewy and did not seem fresh. The restaurant itself is crowded and dirty feeling what else is there to say besides I did not enjoy

This is a favorite after bar food place. We come around 1ish to avoid the really drunk last call crowds...Depending on the time you go, there will a line close to 20-30 deep. Keep in mind, as this is a taco truck, it will take longer to get your food, so be nice to the guys in the truck. They are moving the food out as fast as you can. And for Pete's sake, bring cash...With all the phones there, it slows the signal down quite a bit so running credit cards will take longer than usual if there are more people. I love going there around 1 am, just before all the bar people get there. I have seen smaller crowds at that time frame. The crew works really hard. The food is really good. There are no "official" bike racks there, but I am sure that if more and more cyclists start going there and asking for racks, the owners will see the need and get some put in.

This place is trash. The ground was dirty wait staff and kitchen are completely unorganized. Whats so hard about wanting to substitute a crunchy taco for a puffy taco!? Also come on man borracho beans are supposed to have bacon not hot dogs...I mean really??? This is what the famous Eriks name is built on!? Also the rice is bland and Cabrito is supposed to be grilled for tacos not boiled in a crock pot. Extremely disappointed wont return.

Erick's has really good food and good service. My favorite is the taco norteño. I like how the computer old grill the tortilla which adds extra flavor. The waitresses are so friendly.
