El Sol Mexican Restaurant

We were in the South Side looking for a breakfast spot. There's plenty of seating. Our waitress was a little rough and took our order but was not friendly. I get the usual, Huevos rancheros, but I was not impressed. The beans were bland and the potatoes had been sitting and were cold and soggy. The third star was awarded because the tortilla was amazing. This was after we had to ask for tortillas with our meal and they came out after we were almost done eating.

Was invited to eat here by a relative about 1pm during the week. It was extremely busy but there were tables available. The service was terrible, girl if you don't want to be a server find another position. Leave the attitude at home and make sure you take all the orders before you leave the table and don't have customers repeat orders again because you did not want to pat attention. All you have to do is be nice and not annoyed and you will surely make more money.

I would have given this a 3.5 honestly. We liked the food here. The Barbacoa was spot-on. The Pappas-a-la-Mexicana were very good (a la chingada good)Coffee was OkMenudo was liked by most everyoneChips don't come with foodThe place is dirty inside honestly and very dated. Love this place!.. Best cheese enchiladas ever!.. also the waitresses are so nice and really attentive would more than recommend.

Do yourself a huge favor! Do not! I repeat do not go here! My husband brought me here for my birthday because it's what I wanted. I have never had a bad experience until my birthday. I got Norovirus here! Look it up! Google it! This is what Chipotle had gotten sued for! I worked for Chipotle for 3 1/2 years and they have upped their game because of this! Trust me you're don't want to get the Norovirus. You will definitely feel miserable. The wait staff is horrible. They have way too many employees and no one is really working. They are mostly talking to each other. The server ignored us and continued to talking to co workers. The Manager was no where in site. The chips were old and the tiny Salsa bowl was half way filled. The Salsa had no flavor. And the food was bland the beans were runny. The restaurant needs a deep cleaning front of the house. I'm sure that the back of the house looks worse. I will never ever return here. By the way I ordered the Hungry Man plate a Sweet Tea. And my husband ordered Chicken Enchiladas double rice no beans. And we went on 2/24/2024. Also they didn't give us Silverware until I asked for it when the server brought us the food. Do go here. Seriously

Barbarcoa is so yummy the crispy tacos, beans chorizo and papa sweet tea and salsa ranchera all yummy and homemade tortillas too 10/10 service is always a1 especially the waitresses that's been there for many years. Place could use some Tlc though def needs to step up that pride of ownership

Would give zero stars if I could. Very disappointed. Waitress took order with an attitude. We should have walked out but hoped the food would be good and stayed. Food came out (pork chop plates) no tortillas and pork chops overcooked and over seasoned and salty. Plates came out without tortillas which eventually were brought out (10 or so minutes later) Tortillas were burnt Beans are ok but rice is bland and mushy. We didn't eat the food and brought it up to the waiters and manager attention who didn't care. Will not be returning to this place. They act like their food is so great that they do not care if customers have bad experience and will not return. Be warned and take your business somewhere else.

Had Breakfast with fcken Cockroaches in my eggs, they charged me...wanted to make it over again...u kidding me ,how GROSS...NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN

first and last time. was excited to try for the first time but found a roach in my eggs. very disappointing.

Food was great as usual. Service was excellent, $63.50 for our lunch for a group of 5, left $15 cash on the table for her tip. I went to Pay line and saw a male busboy on the side where the $15 cash was( a $10 and a $5) and a female busgirl helping him with the cleanup. The waitress then came and asked if we left a tip and i responded yes, $15 and I could id the thieves. No time for strangers to snag it as we were in back corner. I told her I could identify them but they didn't want me to, that they were going to ask them. Terrible way to have a visitor from Louisiana see a southside San Antonio restaurant see that thieves work here. My sister ended up giving the waitress another $10 and I gave her another $5. But it surely ruined my lunch and me being a fan of that restaurant. I will not be back. Hand the cash to your waitress.
