Good food quick service. It's popular with locals and generally is very full of customers. They give relatively large portions.

I'm always reviewing "best of" lists. At some point this joint showed up, possibly best breakfast tacos? I honestly don't remember. Either way, I bookmarked it and finally went this past weekend. Got there about 9a on Saturday and it filled up ...like full...shortly thereafter. So, be early. Seated right away, and served shortly after sitting. The one thing will say, I was disappointed in the server's attitude. She wasn't mean or anything, but I'm pretty personable...and unfortunately, my waitress seemed cold and unfriendly. On to the good stuff! It's a quaint, "neighborhood feel", "hole in the wall" Mexican joint with great vibes. The food was pretty darn good. It came out fast, and the portion size was large for the price. The potatoes were a little undercooked (I like them a little browner and crunchier) and under-seasoned, but okay. Overall: glad a tried it, liked the vibe, and I'd like to go back and try lunch.

If one has hunger for real authentic San Antonio Mexican food, friends, look no further as this is the place!! Some of our family members have patronized the restaurant for over 20 years, initially at their original location a few blocks away, and my sister and I would order takeout breakfast tacos for the office for years. The flavor and quality of their offerings have never failed to satisfy. The new location is found in a strip center midst several retails, with parking fronting the center. This is not a fancy eatery, with basic furniture, some 20 tables for the patrons. During our walk-in visit, we were immediately greeted by the owner, and taken to our table, the staff all welcoming and of good cheer. I am ever in search of tasty menudo, always with pozole and a side of rice. The squares were tender and savory, the broth somewhat on the spicy side, Marjan agreeing that original and authentic menudo is so flavored. I literally inhaled my favorite weekend breakfast dish. I also ordered carne guisada taco, on flour please, so reminiscent of those my mother prepared so many years ago. Marjan ordered one beef fajita taco, and one chicken fajita taco. The protein delicious, but just a bit on the greasy side. The tortillas, btw, in house prepared and very good. El Palmar offered very authentic Mexican food of good quality, true to the tradition that I enjoyed at home in my youth. Given the very pleasant staff and the quality of my selections, I would rate the restaurant 5 stars, but as Marjan's choices were somewhat greasy, we decided on 4 stars. None the less, we would return and can definitely recommend the restaurant. And witness the steady stream of incoming customers, they must certainly agree as well! Enjoy Yelpers!!

I went there earlier this week. Again the best service, food, and amazing workers. It is my favorite place for Mexican food.

First time here. Friendly, quick service and breakfast tacos filled to the rim with goodness. Just the way I like them. They were on San Antonio's list of top breakfast taco joints and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be back. Their chorizo & egg and chorizo & potatoes were flavorful without all the oily drip that you get at some other Mexican restaurants. Their caldo de res was also flavorful and piping hot. Good stuff. Highly recommend this place.

Our FAVORITE breakfast spot for the last 15 + years. We have LOVED every dish we eat here. We LOVE the owner. Great family restaurant if you're looking for a homemade breakfast this is your place.

Tried this place for the first time and I was disappointed. Food was average and way over priced for the quality. Definitely do not recommend

Amazing Chorizo & Egg a la Mexicana breakfast tacos!!!! I would come here every day for breakfast if I could. The only thing is I wish they were open until 5pm so I could come on my lunch break which is at 4pm. I work in the same shopping center.

Food is horrible. I have been there many times with family and not once finished my meal. The service is not consistently reliable. The place is filthy.

Awesome food!!!!! The service was great. And the price is very reasonable. The daily lunch specials are always a good choice. And the horchata!! Oh man it was delicious! Definitely recommend!
