If you're craving classic Tex-Mex, this spot hits all the right notes. From the perfectly balanced margaritas--just the right amount of tart and sweet--to the rich, cheesy enchiladas that melt in your mouth, everything we ordered was spot on. The flavors were bold, comforting, and exactly what you'd hope for from an authentic Tex-Mex experience. On top of the great food and drinks, the restaurant offers a spacious private room that's perfect for large parties or events. It's a fantastic spot whether you're looking for a casual dinner or planning a big celebration. Definitely worth a visit!

We eat at El Chapparal at least twice a month because we CRAVE it. We love the ambiance and visit for lunch or dinner. My husband and I take our three kids each time and never feel burdened by the staff. When seated, you always get chips and salsa. The salsa is a Fresca salsa with great spice. Our 2 year old loves it and while it's not too spicy for him, it might be for others on occasion. My favorite entree to order is Valerie's special, which is a pairing of cheese enchiladas and beef fajitas. The beef is always so tender and flavorful while the cheese enchiladas are perfectly saucy and cheesy. The tortillas are always so delicious. Also, you MUST try the sweet tea. It's our favorite and we end up getting a refill at least three times. We have had many servers while eating at El Chapparal, and everyone is always attentive, helpful, and friendly.

El Chaparral was looking nice and festive for a Friday evening! There was a short wait when we arrived, which wasn't bad at all for a Friday during the holiday season! We started with nachos compuestos- 8 bean and nachos (2 small tostadas cut into quarters). The chips didn't stay crisp under the oiliness of the beans and the cheese, but they tasted fine with a jalapeño slice. We will skip these in the future. DH ordered the personal fajita platter with beef, which came with all the traditional sides (rice, beans, tortillas, a tiny bit of guacamole). They were very good. (Their beef fajitas are pretty consistently good). I tried something new (to me)! I had Christina's Relleno that comes in either a chicken or shrimp option. I opted for shrimp. It didn't seem to fit the menu description of "filled... with onions and tomatoes... topped with jalapeño cream sauce and Monterrey Jack cheese." Mine seemed "topped" (the pepper was split and laid flat, like the base of the dish). Didn't notice any tomatoes, not topped with cheese but definitely topped with a bright green sauce that I expected to be a little spicy but wasn't. It was nice and hot, but the rice and beans were about room temp. Probably wouldn't get this again either at the current price of $22.99 for 6 medium shrimp on top of a poblano. I also tried the tamarindo margarita. Woohoo was that a tasty decision! I had to tap out after only half, or I would have had to go to bed before 10 on a Friday night! (FWIW I can usually manage one-and-bit before my eyes start doing their own cumbia!)Mariachi's strolled through the restaurant and they were really good, adding to the festive atmosphere. What should I try next time?

The ambiance is nice and the lighting is dimmed down a bit to give a comfortable atmosphere. Our party ordered some margaritas and they are very good. I recommend the frozen chamoy margarita. It was not over powering. The service was slow and took longer than one would expect for our food to come out. We were on our second margarita by time the food came. Granted the place was busy but our server never followed up with us on the status of our order. When the food did arrive it was served cold and the flavor was bland. My enchiladas was suppose to have jalapeño infused chicken and I didn't taste the jalapeño nor did it taste like chicken. Disappointed with the food quality however, I would come here for their margaritas.

The host told us there would be a 10-15 minute wait. After 30 minutes there was no update so we left and went somewhere else! Many other tables got sat after arriving after us

Absolutely INCREDIBLE food!! Went for a work dinner 2 nights in a row because my out of tow. Coworkers LOVED it! Forgot to take pics of the Margarita! Had el jefe with a splash of pineapple and I honestly don't think I've ever had better! 2 should be a limit though!! Our server was so friendly, attentive and professional! (I didn't catch his name!) Went on a Monday and Tuesday night and there was a nice crowd. Great for families or large groups! Food comes out quick! The table side guacamole does NOT disappoint! So fresh! The enchiladas are top notch!! But those BEANS!! ordered a pint to go- it was that serious! Queso flameado was rich and delicious!! Their Tortillas are legit! Overall great experience!!!

The atmosphere was great! We sat near a road runner statue, which was pretty cool! The food was good. Salsa is great for those people who can't handle spicy food. Chips were definitely freshly heated. The beans that came out after we ordered had good flavor to them, but the beans that came out with entrees tasted liked watered down baked beans. They were moving at a reasonable pace, but it seemed like our server was on a timer and would only come to check on us after 10 minutes had past, so we waited to order, waited to ask for a check, waited to pay... lots of waiting for our server to eventually show up.

3.5 rounded up.We recently visited this El Chappelle location, having been loyal fans of the Helotes spot for years. It's inevitable to draw comparisons, but overall, the experience was solid. The food delivered the familiar flavors we know and love. Everything on the Valerie Special - [1 cheese enchilada with chilli con carne, fajitas, rice and refried beans] - tasted exactly like the Helotes version. My molé enchiladas and sides were equally consistent, with the exception of the molé sauce. While it differed from the Helotes recipe, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't quite as spicy, but still delicious. While the food hit the spot, the atmosphere fell short. The seating arrangement and decor lacked the same vibe as the Helotes location. Personally, I didn't like it. Despite that, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I had a hankering desire for molé in the area.
