El Buen Gusto Mexican Cafe

I had heard of this place, but never had stopped by until this weekend. I am so sad that I had not tasted their food before. This place has a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant vibe and you know that that's always some great food. I ordered the Chilaquiles Verde. They came with a jalapeño onion mixture, but I told him no jalapeño for me. The salsa was spicy enough. It also comes with beans, two eggs made your way and a side of potatoes. The potatoes are not your typical breakfast potatoes. They are also flavorful and done Mexican style. The Chilaquiles were crispy. I can truly say that this is going to be my go to Chilaquiles spot. I also ordered a side of nopalitos. They also are sautéed with onions, tomato, and jalapeños. I did keep the jalapeños in this order. The jalapeños were a little spicy. They sell aguas frescas, Mexican soda and your typical tea, pop, coffee. They do have a charge if you pay with credit card. You do have waiter service, but at the end you do pay at the register. Everyone was very nice and attentitive. Parking is available on site, but shared with the other businesses. Check them out. Support your local businesses.

Very small space but the food is worth it! I recommend getting there when they open. Everything tastes like authentic Mexican food. My 4 year old loved the beans and my 8 year old liked the oatmeal which has evaporated milk and cinnamon, just like grandmas! Friendly and helpful staff. The portions are great for the price. Def recommend helping a local business owner than a franchise! I plan on returning for the menudo which looked delicious!

Inexpensive but delicious breakfast. Portions are a good size, even the tacos. Inside is small and a very laid back environment. The service is top notch though, very friendly. Pick up orders available, which seemed to account for a lot of their business when we were there so it didn't feel crowded even in the small space there was. Hot sauce was a burst of flavor, both red and green. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely recommend the breakfast tacos with a side of sauce.

The server seemed to very polite & engaging. And the food was terrific!! Zeke said he loved his burrito! I took a bite & it was great! I really liked my food too. My son & I were in San Antonio for 2 days & we found this place from Yelp, so now we want to share our good experience with others because we really enjoyed it!!

Menudo was really good and ordering over the phone and it being correct when we got it home was a plus. (It's unfortunate that we have to rate places on their ability to get an order correct anymore but...)

The food is delicious and home made if you are looking for an family small owned business then here is the place to go. The service here is great!! They always welcome us with a smile. They are always willing to open up!

We came in last weekend, restaurant itself is a little small but comfortable. Ate some breakfast, I ordered the Chilaquiles and omg they were amazing!!! A little spicy but tolerable in my opinion (not a huge fan of spicy) my bf had the Veggie omelette & he enjoyed it as well. We will be back again for more chilaquiles because not every Mexican restaurant in SA knows how to do them right. This place actually does

Food is fantastic, I had the caldo de res, and it was awesome! There's only one size, but should be larger, the veggies are chopped slightly so they are huge, almost the whole veggie in the soup.Ambiance is quite dark for a restaurant, but the waiters are really nice.

Food was great. I had the taco of barbacoa and it was very good. Great flavorful food. Authentic to mine from home. Service was very fast. Small restaurant but perfect I would say. Everyone was very friendly. We will be back
