Dee Willie’s BBQ

Upon walking it (between 3-4pm) we were greeted immediately by Assistant Mgn David. It was my first time here, and he patiently went over the menu and its vast choices. The ambiance is definitely a Texas BBQ place, as we waited for our food (order to-go) we were greeted by multiple staff with smiles. From a Californian point of view, they showed us the southern hospitality. We order the 2 meat plate with sides: ribs, brisket Pull pork, turkey*The greens beans were delicious Don't know when I'll ever be in San Antonio again, but if I ever do. Definitely be visiting them again.

Wish I had a chance to actually taste and review their food but they seemed to be out of everything when we came. From ribs to chicken they were out of. When we finally ordered we sat at the table for 20 minutes and finally just left. All I wanted was some Texas ribs and brisket SMH. Server was nice but I don't know what the cooks were doing back there for OVER 20 minutes!

OVERVIEW: Decent BBQ spot in SA, since there are not many. Popular for their baked potato salad. Meats are decent and sides are okay. Service is very casual. Plate and sandwich options, as well as family meals. 3-3.5/5 stars. QUICK FACTS:- Parking? Yes, they have a full lot shared with other businesses.- Reservations? No, just walk in, seat yourself, and a server will tend to you.- Takeout? Yes, you can order ahead or arrive and order there.FOOD & DRINK RATINGS:- Sweet tea (2/5): I love sweet tea but this was sooo disgustingly sweet. Whoever made the batch today dumped an insane amount of sugar in there. Could hardly taste the tea. Had to ask for some water (which they charge $0.25 for) as well.- Spare ribs (4/5): Good size and very tender. Very peppery flavor (no sweetness or BBQ sauce basted on them).- Turkey (4/5): Very tender. Skin is same peppery seasoning. BBQ sauce is also spicy/peppery or mustard-y. So no sweetness anywhere to balance out meat seasoning.- Creamed corn (3/5): Kind of reminds me of corn in gravy vs. cream. And again...peppery.- Mac and cheese (3/5): Just okay. Creamy but not a lot of flavor.- Peach cobbler (3/5, not pictured): Good ratio of crust to peach filling, but was served room temp. Ice cream did not really melt into it. Also very sweet!

This is one of the best hidden little places when it comes to good slow smoked bbq . Their food is always on point. Besides the brisket their chopped bbq sandwich is amazing . If you're into barbecue, this is definitely a place that you need to try .

First impression is they're very organized. The lounge wasn't busy but they did have a few take out and delivery orders. Was told the order would be ready for take out in 5-10. Ours came in 24 minutes. On top of that, it was wrong so I had to go back to get the correct item. There was ample parking in a strip mall. There's a large stage in the front so I'm assuming they have live music. Decent prices and portions. They do offer a law enforcement and military doscoujt.The good; beans were so salty we couldn't eat them. A shame because they were seasoned nicely except for the salt. It tasted like they dropped the salt in there to be honest. It was that salty. Potato salad was delicious. Cole slaw was decent.Sausage was delicious. Brisket was also delicious but too salty. Delicious sauce. I give the food 3.5 of 5. Service was a 2 at best. Friendly but it was a zoo when it didn't have to be. A guy named Gary was waiting for his order and they're calling Eric. The name was put in wrong so he had to wait unnecessarily. My order was wrong. I would go back to try it again. The food has potential and I prefer dining in anyways. Overall score is a 3 today.

LOVE this bbq. The brisket, the ribs, and most of the sides are on point. Pro tip: Jalapeño/cheddar sausage isn't on the menu but they serve it until they run out. Try the sweet potato side and the mac n cheese. while the mac is a little peppery it's delicious.

Dee Willie's is a solid BBQ restaurant on the NE side of San Antonio. The food is very good! Delicious smoked flavor and tender brisket. The ribs were my favorite. Very flavorful, juicy and tender short ribs are the way to go. The turkey and chicken were both good as well. They have some good sides but I loved the sweet potato casserole. You can get green beans, cream corn, potato salad and more for sides. The environment was Texas BBQ style and casual. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Dee Willie's is definitely worth your time and money. You can expect to pay 15 to 25 per for a plate. Great job Dee Willie's!!!!

Straight trash out of mostly everything and the food we order was dry out of most drinks looks like we won't be back

$18 small brisket sandwich and green beans.... tasty but sad for the price.my whole meal dropped through the bag in the parking lot when I got back to work. Maybe they can give a s..t about the consumer and not put the bag into juice when they bag the food because nothing was leaking from the food. When i tipped them I asked who the tip went to and the girl said to the person bagging your food. Jeez !?!? Idiots
