Katina J. "Excellent service! This restaurant is warm and inviting. We opted for Tom-Kha soup, Papaya Salad (also known as Som Tam) and White Spring rolls paired with the iced Jasmine Tea to keep our meal light after a long walk in the park.My friend and i thoroughly enjoyed every layer and complexity of our meal. It was pure perfection! I absolutely love Thai food. And this restaurant is quite authentic. I had only had Som Tam with blue crab previously, but the dried shrimp gives it a different flavor profile (just as delicious). We did Thai spicy, I love heat and this dish did not disappoint! The soup was aromatic and coconut-cream. Spring rolls had fresh ingredients, sauce was not too peanutty. Everything was delicious. *This is a must visit restaurant here in SA. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes."

Tina R. "I'm not sure how this restaurant isn't a 5 star or even close to it! We wanted to check out a new sushi place and stumbled upon this gem! The decor is quite amazing, elaborate, intricate and simply jaw dropping in my opinion. Their attention to detail on the design of this place and decor is astonishing. Modern Japanese aesthetic meets the Japanese empire. It always keeps you looking. Every time I come, I see something I hadn't seen before. The lady at the front always greets you and the servers are fantastic! They were quick, informative and precise. Our food came out so fast even though they were packed! Definitely a lunch spot if you are crunched for time! They provide you with complimentary salad with their house made ginger dressing and miso soup. The ginger dressing can be purchased if you really like it like we did!! The miso soup was great too and flavorful. We ordered the following:- Karai Ramen: yowza!! This soup is perfect on a cold, rainy day. Heck this soup is perfect for even the Texas summer heat! The broth is so flavorful, with just the right amount of spice that makes your throat burn but in a good spicy kind of way! You want to keep going back for more! It has ground pork, a hard boiled egg, ramen and bean sprouts. The ramen noodles were perfectly cooked, not mushy but just the right texture. If your sick or if you just want a good spicy ramen soup, get this. You can't beat the price for the amount you get!! $10 and you can share between two people or keep it to yourself and take it home for left overs! With these high food prices, this definitely works on someone's budget! - Las Vegas Roll (deep fried): perfectly tempura'd, perfectly rolled, just the right amount of ingredients! You can get any sushi roll fried in tempura mix for $1.00! Again the price for the amount you get is right in point. - San Antonio Roll: of course you could get some at H-E-B, but these masters don't disappoint! They were rolled to perfection and the roll was quite hefty in terms of size! I get this every time I come here! Beautifully executed and plated with the right amount of sauces! - Texan roll (deep fried) : this was another hit! The wasabi tobiko cavier was very interesting but fun to eat! I've never had it before but it does have the wasabi flavor! Another dish we'd recommend! Again, I think the prices are reasonable with the amount you get! Definitely check this place out and their soups!!! Keep this one alive SA!!"

It was delicious. Ordered three rolls and they were all of amazing quality, and quickly filled us up. Our waitress provided us with squeeze bottles of spicy mayo and eel sauce so we were more than happy (usually the little portions aren't enough). Then we got fried ice cream which was great, tasted like a funnel cake. Upon paying our waitress even offered to pack our leftovers for us and did a great job. It was quiet, no loud tvs or anything. Good natural lighting as well as booths or tables."

Caitlyn J. "I've put off this review for 3 visits now. These photos are from my very last visit to Umiya. Food wise, this place has only gotten better with each visit. Wonderful rolls with wild flavors, interesting and unique textures. My fiancé and I have no issues with the food service, it's extremely fast and always the right temperature. The restaurant is beautiful inside, very pretty decor! Here's my issue: customer service. Every time we have gone, there is some odd issue with one of the wait staff. The first visit was a young guy my age (mid 20's) who said the kitchen cook didn't like him which is why our food wasn't good, and would talk to us for upwards of 20 minutes about the issue every visit. Our 2nd visit was fine, waitress was fast and came around to take orders often. 3rd visit, just rude. Came up to our table and asked "what do you want" multiple times, never refilled drinks, barely let us finish talking, let alone eat. Every time my fiancé and I were in the middle of eating she'd come around and just stand at our table end and wait. We also got sat in a room where our table was the only one our waitress came to, and we're unsure why we got sat there. Empty restaurant and got sat next to a large group of rowdy men. We are thinking this was our last visit to the restaurant physically. If you're thinking of eating here, just get it to go."

Hamachi was amazing. They offer full service Japanese cuisine which also includes the Japanese style, Seiza (sit on the floor) with private rooms. Excellent customer service ran by the family. We were maybe 1 of 4 groups in there and our rolls took about 35 minutes to come out. One of the servers knocked into my chair so hard I almost fell over and he did not say anything but awkwardly giggle and continue walking to his table. The sushi was fine. Our waiter was very nice though and that's probably what is saving me from giving less stars because he did try to make us feel catered to. Unfortunately, they did try to overcharge me at normal pricing and I didn't notice until I went home that even after telling him the price was wrong and needed adjusting, I was charged almost $25 additional. Wanted to love this place unfortunately, did not."

It's loaded with chicken, shrimp, and fried tofu, along with scallions, bean sprouts, and eggs, all tossed in a delicious Thai specialty sauce and topped with freshly ground peanuts. The portion is generous enough to share, though I usually keep it all to myself because it's just that good! When it comes to drinks, the cucumber martini steals the show. It's refreshing, perfectly balanced, and has just the right amount of kick to make it memorable. It's easily one of my favorite cocktails in town. The restaurant has an old-school casual vibe that feels warm and welcoming. Stephen W. "I was craving salmon sashimi the day I went here, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted but I choose the Poke bowl because I figured I would get more fish that way than with the sashimi, which seemed to work out. The fish was fresh and good flavor. The choices that you get to add it are minimal with out having to pay extra for them, for example a coupe slices of Avocado was an additional $3, I also asked for an eel sauce to be put on it and it was not added. I didn't notice until I got to the house with it. I didn't dine in so I can't really judge the service of wait staff, the lady working the to wasn't to charming though. I ran in and grabbed my food so I can rate the ambiance either. It is a smaller place with not a lot of seating."

Sophie H. "We're fairly new to the area. The girls asked for sushi and this place is literally up the street. We're temporarily housed at the Big Tex Flats, so it's about a 5-7min walk. I phoned in my order and they said it would take about 40min. Everything tasted good and fresh! All of the "hot foods" were still relatively warm by the time I got the food and made the mini trek back to the apartment. I appreciate that they kept the "spicy" sauce separate from the edamame, allowing me to control the spicy level and not get the edamame too soggy. We've had sushi up and down the east coast && I have to admit that we were VERY skeptical of sushi with goat cheese vice cream cheese (e.g., Philly roll). But it was surprisingly good and a much smoother& creamier bite. Both of my girls liked the Philly roll and liked that it had both avocado and cucumber. The same comment goes for their cheese wonton, which also used goat cheese. We really really enjoyed those. I was hoping for a chili vinaigrette based cucumber salad but this wasn't bad. In fact, I ate the entire container (in two sittings tho). Even the 6 y/o thought it was good. The edamame was okay - what you expect from edamame but could use a nice punch of salt. However, for those watching their sodium intake, this is a good way to serve it. So I added my own sea salt flakes. Everyone enjoyed the gyoza. Husband had the king crab roll. He didn't really voice any comments about it, but considering that he ate it all, I'll say it was a win win. I had the shrimp tempura roll. It was a pretty mild and basic roll but good. My eldest also had the volcano roll. I tried a piece and it was yum! Had a LOT going on lol but I guess that's the "volcano erupting." We spent about $100 on this meal. A bit pricier than back home (MD prices) but I'm also not complaining too much about it. It was a pretty solid meal. Sadly, we're moving up/over? to the northwest side. So I doubt that I'd go out of my way to come back here, but who knows? If I find myself back in Southtown and I'm craving sushi, I'd probably swing by here."

It's got every mix that you could possibly think of with an absolute great taste of deliciousness. Now I must say that when it comes to service or customer service, probably not on the list of places to go. They use a kiosk to put your order in and unless it's down, you don't actually see the cashier the only time you see a servers when they bring the food out or if they're in the back cleaning the table. The atmosphere of ambience well what can I say simplistic it's not a lot of sounds or things going on not even background music but you hear a fan in the background. Joanne S. "To be honest, this was our second choice for a hibachi grill because the first one we wanted to try could not accommodate us for dinner. My grandson wanted to celebrate his birthday with a hibachi dinner so we found our way here. Most hibachi grills I've been to require a reservation, so we called before heading over and they said they could accommodate a party of 10, but no reservations because it's first come first served. Luckily by the time we got there 20mins later they had a table for us. In fact, the restaurant was quite empty, this was about 530p on a Tuesday night. It was almost like we had a private dining. Menu was standard and pricing was reasonable. There's also a sushi menu which is more than enough if you order a hibachi meal. I ordered the ribeye and shrimp combo, grandkids mustve had a kids meal, not sure but theirs consisted of just the rice and steak. On the side was a miso soup for all and a salad for the adult entrees.Chef was professional and talented. Kids really enjoyed the show and fire. Honestly almost don't want to see how.much butter, oil and soy sauce goes into the cooking but the food sure tastes good. I wouldve preferred less soy sauce for sure, just gotta drinks lots of water next day! Steak, scallop and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Sushi roll that we ordered was also fresh and tasty. Grandson enjoyed his birthday and I'm sure we'll be back again."
