Peter L. "Small, cozy place in Southtown. Came here for a date night and celebration. They had a tasting menu that was available Tues-Thurs nights for a limited time that is like a restaurant week menu for a decent price. We had a great variety of food and everything was phenomenal. The grilled octopus tastes almost as good as octopus we had in Kyoto. The short ribs were super tender. The tostadas were light, citrusy and refreshing. The butternut squash cheesecake was a perfect and interesting dessert. Never thought about putting squash into a cheesecake but flavors were subtle and not too sweet. The forest cake was thick and rich though - you def need a glass of milk to go with that.Service was quick. The waitress was super attentive and made great recommendations! We were lucky we got in before the tasting menu trial period ended. We'll def be coming back!"

Evelyn C. "Went during lunch time and their lunch menu options are great for $12. The Caesar salad has to be one of the best in San Antonio and the green chile chicken sandwich was sooooo good!! The service was great, we went with our pup, so happy to say they are a patio pet friendly restaurant. We sat outside and the climate was perfect for an outside lunch. The Brussels had a good crisp, but I personally prefer more of a honey siracha Brussels type. Lunch Menu is 11am-3pm. Happy hour begins at 3pm with their unbeatable 3pm: $3, 4pm: $4 and 5pm: $5."

Eileen G. "Everything was phenomenal. We had to either wait an hour and 15 minutes for a reservation, find seats at the bar or leave. We luckily found seats at the bar and are so glad we stayed. Friday lunch time was extremely busy. It seems like everyone was there for the pork chop special. We ordered lobster Mac and cheese, a caramelized prime rib, the thickest pork chop known to man and cherries jubilee chocolate cake. It was pricy, but it was my birthday lunch so a splurge every now and then is good. We were thoroughly impressed, everything was delicious and we plan to go back for the next special occasion."

Cristina B. "Finally made it to "supper" no pun intended lol I had heard raving reviews and nothing but great things about Supper. The reviews on Yelp confirmed it, and my visit sealed the deal! So obviously, I highly recommend! I had it on my foodie list since (recently) moving to SATX. Everything about our experience was 100/10! Service, ambiance and food!!! The historic feel and ambiance can be felt from the moment you walk up and walk in. Of course I snapped away from every angle and still photos won't do it justice! So go see for yourself To start, we ordered a Cesar salad to share and they were kind enough to split it (without us asking for it to be split). I opted for a mocktail (Prohibition Punch) and my hubby had an old fashioned. It's always very much appreciated by me when a business and staff are so detailed. It's the details for me, always! Like the cute little "pearl" in the old fashioned cherry garnish. Which I'm sure is symbolic of the "pearl district". Much appreciated! For entrees; I ordered the risotto and my hubby ordered the black angus filet (au poivre). The truffle on the risotto was fantastic. However, the risotto itself needed a little something. It tasted kind of bland (for my liking) even when combining with the truffle! The steak on the other hand was absolutely phenomenal! Cooked exactly as we ordered, with an explosion of flavors when dipped in the au poivre sauce. Can't forget to mention the highlight of the night for me; the Brussels sprouts! Omg! The best I've had! Kudos to the chef! I would've been ok with 3 orders of Brussels lol I can go on and on about how wonderful this experience was! I will end my review by saying thank you to Angel, our server! And what felt like an entourage of servers making sure our every need was met! Truly grateful and cannot wait to return!"

Rebecca J. "We made reservations to visit after trying to walk in last week and finding out they had already filled their last spot. It was worth the wait! We were seated in a cozy little cubby near the back, which was perfect. The staff shared the story of the owners--a husband, a graduate of the CIA culinary school, and his wife, who has a background in construction. Together, they created a warm and inviting restaurant where they used to live before expanding due to their success. We couldn't decide on a red wine, so our waitress graciously let us sample a few before we settled on a lovely French dry red. Our meal started with a fantastic pork and grape appetizer, which was the highlight for us. For the mains, we chose a vegetable and a fish dish. The eggplant was a bit too rich for my taste, and I would have preferred a lighter, crunchier panko coating. The redfish had a bit of a strong flavor, but the corn succotash that accompanied it was excellent. The fresh, crisp salad was another standout. We were too full to enjoy dessert at the restaurant, so we took a nectarine tartlet and chocolate cake home. Both were a hit the next day! For everything we enjoyed, the bill was very reasonable, and the service was exceptional. We'll definitely be back to try more from their weekly-changing prix fixe menu."

Clay C. ""Ated it, but Hated it" lolVery quickly, giving some acknowledgment to the atmosphere, decor and vibes. Very cool. Liked it. That's why this review has two stars. Now for the food. First, I have to acknowledge that I ate my food. lol I was hangry and hungover and after the long wait, I would have eaten a burnt rat. So there it is; the irony of my review.I ordered the "Bombetter Pattymelt." Which, is the "Bombetter Grilled Cheese" with a patty added to make it a pattymelt. It has red onions, green onions, jalapeños, chipotle mayo and like 4 different cheeses. All of that sounds great, but the execution was awful. The onions were raw. Which in the context of a hot sandwich is absolute insanity. The jalapeños were fresh and raw, not pickled, which again in the context of a hot sandwich is insane. Not only were they fresh and raw, they were rough chopped and chunky. So the sandwich was filled with raw cold onion and raw crunchy chunks of jalapeño. Not a great tactile experience. The bread was okay. The cheese was ~okay~ but wasn't fully melted and was still in cheese slice shape, which isn't what you want in a pattyMELT. Also, pattymelts are usually pressed on the griddle or in a sandwich press. That's a big part of what makes a pattymelt different from a cheeseburger made with bread instead of a bun. In fact, I'm gonna go ahead and say it; If a pattymelt isn't pressed... it's a cheeseburger with bread instead of a bun. THERE. SAID IT. So, based on that declaration, I was actually served a very crappy cheeseburger with bread slices instead of a bun.As for the fries, they were so sad, floppy and unmentionable that I shouldn't even be typing these words right now."

Super friendly folks who are laid back enough to make us feel like we can come in and de-compress during our lunch break. We have not liked every single thing we have ordered here, but that's an US issue and we just don't order those things again. We do like the taco salad and the Philly very much tho. Joseph E. "My foodie friends and I decided to try one of the newest downtown upscale restaurants, Cavalier, located inside the Intercontinental hotel. Please note that parking can be an issue due to the downtown construction, but Cavalier will validate your parking if you use the hotel valet. Much appreciated! We arrive on time for our reservation and are seated promptly. After looking over the menu, which has a definite French flare to it, and decide to start off with some focaccia bread, oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salad and a glass of pinot noir for me. The focaccia was divine and didn't last long. The Caesar salad was their take on the classic and they did a good job. They plated in a very colorful way. The oysters are next and are also super flavorful. I can't recall the topping they add but it made it pop with flavor. The pinot noir was also very good. For my main course I go with the braised short ribs with broccolini and truffle fries. The short ribs were tasty and very tender. No knife was needed as a fork easily cut through the meat. The protein sat on top of some mashed potatoes that just soaked up all the brown gravy. The broccolini was a nice side but I really preferred the truffle fries. Very tasty and crunchy. Lastly, I made room for the Hibiscus Pavlova desert. You could tell it took some skill to make this dish. It was very flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed my first time at Cavalier and look forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu."

Placed my order quickly and waited about 3 mins. (There were 2 customers in front of me) I could see items being cooked fresh which only added to my excitement. When my number was called another polite employee gave me my order and noted that there were napkins etc over there if I needed them. Over the top helpfulness! Wanting to love the idea of Philly cheesecake but never really finding a business that makes it how I like it I wasn't expecting too much. After all I am in a Walmart grocery store. However with my first bite I was sold!! SO delicious!! I found myself wanting more than half the sandwich. Surely my husband can't know where the half line is right?! Just another nibble to even it up...Ugh! I had the sandwich to my husband and jump on my phone to see if this company is in Utah. THEY ARE! I was pleasantly surprised with this sandwich. Katherine C. "TL;DR - amazing food and service, especially for celiac or gluten sensitive patrons. If I had guided myself by the Yelp rating I may have skipped this place, but I'm glad we went by Google instead. A lot of the complaints I saw in reviews below about having to pay for parking or other comments that were not necessarily up to the restaurant felt unfair and not an accurate reflection of the experience here. My friend found this place while searching for gluten free options for our weekend in San Antonio, and the food and service were both so great that we went back for more on our second day in town. On our first visit we had Chris take care of us. We started with the quail-wrapped bacon appetizer and the truffle fries, and we ordered the salmon and the pollo norteño for our entrees. We went after 2pm, so the happy hour was in place and we also ordered 2 of their happy hour margaritas. The margaritas were the only not great part of our meal, but they were fine. We both finished the apps and entrees and everything was beyond flavorful and delicious. Chris was a wonderful server as well. We sat inside and it was great! So we agreed to go back for round 2. I'm very sorry I can't remember the name of our server for day 2, but he was absolutely wonderful as well. This time we sat outside. Having celiac usually limits the options I can have at most places, but I had the wonderful problem of not knowing what to choose here! So I asked our server for his recommendation between the burger and the lunch specials, all of which sounded great. He mentioned that the burger had won first place during a contest a few months before, and so my friend and I both ordered it (hers with a regular bun, mine GF) and WOW! No wonder it won the contest, there are so many wonderful flavors blended in there and they're so unexpected. We also repeated the quail and truffle fries and were equally delighted by all of it. The truffle fries were so crunchy and delicious, it was inevitable to finish the bowl. For day's 2 drink I went with their version of a Sidecar, which was nothing like a standard one, but still really enjoyed it. All in all, we came here for 2/3 days in town and I'd go back in a heartbeat for our next visit to San Antonio. The food, the service, and the ambiance. All 10/10!"

I usually may never have space in my tummy for dessert but this time I did. This was the best cheesecake I've had in a really long time--I typically do not care cheesecake . The snapper throats name is deceiving as it's actually the snapper cheeks/side of its face but I guess haha. The fish was tender and deep-fried without being greasy. They let the natural taste of snapper shine through as there wasn't heavy seasoning or salt which is great. The calamari dipping sauce was a nice curry which is the usual sauce pairing you would think of but it works! The ambiance was lowlight moody and rustic vibes."
