"Apparently El Weinecero is the spot to be late night in SA! Friendly staff and tasty dogs. Give it a try :)"
"Crystal's Cafe was within walking distance of our vacation rental so we thought we'd give it a try. We had a wonderful breakfast experience. Good service and great food. Needed some good coffee after long travel and they did not disappoint."

"Nice little restaurant. Not fancy but good food . Hood prices. Good service. Nice waitress."
"A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. food!!We have been twice and were astonished by how incredible the food was both visits! The service was also very friendly and efficient with not much of a wait for the food to be prepared. The first visit was a Friday night and we got sat very quickly for how busy it was. We figured it would be a long wait for the food, but were shocked with how quickly it was ready. Being pregnant, I didn't get to try the margaritas, but the agua fresca was delicious. I'll definitely be back once the baby arrives so I can try the margaritas. There's a small seating area when you first walk on that is quiet then a bar area on the other side. The bar area has a lot more seating yet, somehow, isn't that loud for how many tables fit in the area. We have been pleasantly surprised with each visit and look forward to the next. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but it's worth while!"
"Went on a Sunday in the afternoon. The menu is limited, but the quality of the food makes up for it. The tacos were delicious, the meat was flavorful and tender. Their agua frescas were perfect and not over sweetened."
"Staff: super friendlyLocation: This place is in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you, great breakfast taco!Food: ordered chorizo breakfast taco on corn tortilla. The corn tortilla has wonderful texture and super temperature hot. The taco was packed full and super delicious. Bathroom: average cleanliness"
"This place offer very tasty food! It took a bit to get the food ready but it was worth the wait! Space is limited but able to accommodate a small group or you can do what I did, opened up the back of my SUV and sat there to enjoy the meal!"
"The food here is always amazing. The wait staff is always friendly, fast, efficient knowledgeable. I love the decor and the energy of this restaurant. We stopped in to celebrate a birthday. We had a great time."
"Excellent taqueria at SAT B terminal - recommend you order the specialties from the Favoritas portion of the menu. There was a 20-minute wait, so I sat at the bar counter and patiently waited for my turn to order. The bar computer was glitching and the bartender was getting a little frustrated. However, I had time to kill as my flight back home was delayed by 3 hours. So I relaxed and chatted with the guy next to me about family, sports, politics, inflation, and the weather. When it was my turn to order, I opted for the Cascabel Tacos ($16.99) from the Favoritas portion of the menu - diced pork simmered in a Chile Cascabel sauce - and was met with an approving nod and a smile! The food didn't take as long as placing the order did - the tacos looked appetizing, and I took a couple of pieces of pork off the top as they were overfilled! The meat was tender and the Chile Cascabel sauce imparted a unique flavor to it - I had ordered well! I inhaled both my tacos without any embellishments. My newly made friend got the Tacos Norteños with beef (also $16.99 and from the Favoritas portion of the menu) and he enjoyed his meal too. Will be back again next time I fly through San Antonio."
"Great breakfast tacos on Broadway St. in downtown San Antonio. Carmelita's has very good chorizo & egg tacos. The tortillas are perfectly cooked on the flat grill, combined with the green salsa over the chorizo made me a huge fan today. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant has open seating if your dining inside. The food, vibe, music and great breakfast experience will definitely bring me back to try a lunch special."
"Food is delicious here. Service is very fast. Highly recommend the breakfast burritos!! Great deal for only $5"
"This is my favorite barbacoa location. The manager and employees are wonderful and it's so good! But don't wait close to closing...they might run out."

The FOOD! So good!!! Came for late night eats & snacks! Me and the hubby got hotdogs that were delicious!! Our kids ate elote and they really liked it. I ordered el Perro con Elote, it was so big! I needed aSpoon to eat the elite that fell on my plate! I think they use beef sausage wrapped in bacon not sure but it's soooo good! My husband ordered el Pedro Caliente and he says it was spicy but very good! They're very nice there and helpful. Service was great! Ambiance is very chill. They have a few tables to stand by if you want to eat there or feel free to order to-go. They have bottle drinks as well. They accept cash app, card and cash and I believeVenmo(don't quote me on Venmo). I love that they are open till 3 am! Perfect for when the bars/clubs close go get a very tasty delicious! Oh and it's family friendly! Definitely recommend everyone should come here and have your not so typical hotdog. You wind regret it!!

A mom and pop cafe of over twenty years.Recommended for breakfast. If the chilequilas are prepared the way I like them I know it is a good place to eat.Unfortunately the chips were soggy and the cheese that was on top not melted. Good flavor, but not my wayThe service was good and coffee delicious.I will give it a try another time.

I like this place especially for breakfast tacos. They come out hot and wrapped in tin foil so they stay hot until you can eat them. Never sat in restaurant so can not say anything about the dine in ....but the breakfast tacos are great.

It's not uncommon to see a Mexican restaurant on every corner in town. However, this place has really great food! The corn tortillas, while packaged, are the closest to homemade that I have tasted. The service is top-notch, too. My mom is a regular, and she brought me here. The staff is friendly (tip well!). The place was converted from an old auto repair shop, and the decor is really cool. I will be back, and just because the prices are reasonable, too.

Simple strip mall restaurant with great breakfast tacos! I use huevos machacado (egg and dried beef) tacos as my barometer for a taco shop. This little place nailed that taco. They have done a great job of capturing the ambience of Mi Tierra downtown! My wife and I have been several times now and each time the service has been impeccable! My wife loves the enchilada gravy and now the beef/shrimp combo nachos! I'm diggin on the tamales extra crispy with a bowl of charro beans!!!! And the Pan Dulce!!

"When you spend your childhood in S. Texas, then move to spend your formative years in Austin, the search for the best tacos begins. Can't say I ever found them in Austin, but I do wonder why I didn't move to San Antonio sooner. These tortillas are top tier; they seriously don't get any better than this. Seriously. The tacos are huge and packed with goodness. I'm always apprehensive to order tacos with eggs because it triggers me to get over cooked scrambled eggs. So I went with a bean and cheese and a potato and chorizo. Both were super tasty, but the chorizo and potato was a little under seasoned. Now, barely pictured is the chilaquiles taco. I had one bite and died and went to heaven. That answers the question about ordering egg tacos here. Next time, that's what I'm getting. I sampled the chicharrones which were also pretty epic.I'm a sucker for diner coffee. Somehow they usually seem to be delicious and underrated and so simple. This one did not disappoint. It was a great cup of coffee.10/10!"
"Stopped in the drive thru on a nice breakfast before a day exploring the city. Many options including tacos, burritos, and various breakfast plates to get your day started. There's also dine in, but usually it is crowded in the morning as everyone loves breakfast here. Plus it's not a big joint, but it'll get you going if you're on the go or on the way to work.I simply had two bacon egg and cheese tacos from the drive thru. The bacon had a delicious greasy flavor to it, but it could've been cooked a little less. Crispy bacon isn't bad at all, but I at least like to be able to have it with flavor. The eggs were pretty good, and the cheese wasn't really present in the taco, but overall not a bad way to start the day.Parking is limited, like I said, so just try the drive thru if you don't have time to sit and eat. The huevos rancheros meal looked pretty good, but I didn't try it because I wasn't that hungry. But if you're looking for a nice small breakfast before work, stop on by."
"PTL for Señor Burro!! This native San Diegan is beyond happy that they landed in SA. I've already been here 3 times in one week haha. This place has some SD favorite and NAILS them - like the Cali burrito! The meat isn't gristley at all and exactly how I remember a Cali burrito should taste. My personal favorite? The rolled tacos!!! I search far and wide for good shredded beef rolled tacos, and I have found them here. They even use creamy guac just like in SD! And oh man they have a full on breakfast burrito menu that does not disappoint. I had the classic breakfast burrito and it was fire. I seriously could eat here every day. Don't sleep on the horchata, it's soooo good. I can't forget to mention their $1 fish street tacos, they are so crispy delicious with bomb chipotle sauce and fresh spicy pico. I've also had their carnitas and shredded beef taco - both incredible and authentic to SD. The staff is so nice and just makes the whole experience better! You have a repeat customer between me and my whole family who also LOVES your food!"
"Loved this place. Only spending 5 nights in San Antonio and debating going back for a second meal here. Easily sat our large party and we were shocked when we saw such affordable menu prices. Restaurant is large and clean inside with lots of seating options. Ordered tons and everyone loved it all. Enchiladas and flour tortillas were my favorites. Service was quick and friendly and they had no problem splitting our bill. Awesome find."
"Your perfect hole in the wall mexican place. Run down exterior, inconsistent hours, delicious food attentive service. Love it.I got the beef enchiladas, and they were simple and delicious with plenty of cheese. Very mild, but a splash of red or green salsa adds some zing.I will be back for lunch once a week."
"Wow! Everything was flavorful and fresh! We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day. Must have the carne asada nacho fries and the elote bowl with fish."
"Super friendly staff and outstanding breakfast tacos! An unassuming building should not throw you off, Taco Broadway has some of the best breakfast tacos near Alamo Heights. The food is fresh, the wait is never long and they have outstanding salsas to pair for the tacos. Definitely check them out!"
"First time here while visiting, thenfood was great and the price was right. The service was also.. well definitely be back to try the rest of the menu"
"This is a favorite after bar food place. We come around 1ish to avoid the really drunk last call crowds...Depending on the time you go, there will a line close to 20-30 deep. Keep in mind, as this is a taco truck, it will take longer to get your food, so be nice to the guys in the truck. They are moving the food out as fast as you can. And for Pete's sake, bring cash...With all the phones there, it slows the signal down quite a bit so running credit cards will take longer than usual if there are more people. I love going there around 1 am, just before all the bar people get there. I have seen smaller crowds at that time frame. The crew works really hard. The food is really good. There are no "official" bike racks there, but I am sure that if more and more cyclists start going there and asking for racks, the owners will see the need and get some put in."
"Good food, fresh seafood. Good service. Clean interior. Great location. Gonna be a regular for me."
"Hole in the wall, hidden gem, or mom n pop joint take your pick, Aurelia's Kitchen has an easy going charm for those that don't need fancy decor. I've been searching for decent menudo since arriving in SA. Some place it's been way too greasy, at others skimpy on the meat heavy on the hominy. Here it was just perfect, and with pata, despite only providing onions and limes as a condiments. The menudo was tasty and perfectly seasoned-outstanding! The corn tortillas were made in house thick and fluffy and delicious. Such a down home vibe here accented by patrons such as the cowboy wearing his shades inside-so cool - because he was not trying to be cool. Service was excellent, attentive, super friendly and welcoming! I will be back despite the drive from SA!"
"I really enjoy the food and service here. They used to be Sylvia's so many of y'all will already know it. They changed owners and names but still have the same menu and service that was great to begin with."
"**Experience during COVIDAs a new Texan, everyone has told me that I had to try authentic Barbacoa and tamales! After a quick yelp search, I ended up at Morenita Barbacoa! As someone who did not know what to expect, I can tell you I was floored by everything I got! The barbacoa was was perfectly tender and flavorful! The meat paired perfectly with the spicy salsa that I got. They also offer tamales (pork, chicken, cheese&bean), and I caved and got a dozen pork tamales. These were absolutely delicious! They were much bigger than other tamales I have gotten at other places and chock full of flavor. The owner and family were also so nice. They took the time to explain to answer all of my questions and got my order ready within minutes of placing my order. For a 1lbs. of barbacoa, a dozen tamales, 2 salsas, and a pack of tortillas, it was about $25 which I thought was cheaper than other places I looked at! FYI, they are cash only! Tamales are sold by the dozen and barbacoa is sold by the pound. If you are around the area, I'd highly recommend stopping by this spot!"
"Excellent service and delicious food during the lunch time rush! Service 5/5 - even though the restaurant was busy, we were immediately greeted and quickly seated upon entry. Food 5/5 - delicious, homemade, and huge portions served piping hot! The complementary chips and salsa were amazing! The salsa was thick and had a good kick. Convenience 5/5 - dining room service was very fast and they have a drive-thru as well.I'll be back!"
"Great food! Reminds me of Monterrey. Wish we had taken pictures of our food but it's amazing."
"The salad was delicious and fresh the waitress was nice and the restaurant was clean the restroom was clean just ad a good experience"
"We ordered these tamales for our work party (25 dozen to be exact!) and they were delicious! The ordering process was easy all I had to do was pick up when I set the time. The tamales weren't huge, but they were DELICIOUS! We had the chicken, pork, and bean with jalapeno. All of them were cooked perfectly and had a good ratio of masa to meat! This location was very clean and staff was very friendly. I will definitely be ordering again!"
"Random find ! Place is very clean. Connected to a gas station. I forgot to take pics of our plate but ordered the barbacoa it lacked in flavor. Tortillas and rice were yummy! Service was good. Young lady was patient and helpful."
"My husband & I ordered to go & the Piccadillo puffy tacos plate weighed about 7 lbs. they were pretty tasty.. the rice was not to my liking but the plate overall was good, we also ordered Lengua guisada & I must say I've never had anything like it, it was so tender & the flavor was on point, a little overpriced but the location says it all. Next time we'll dine in."
"MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHICKEN FROM MEXICO IS FINALLY IN THE STATES. San Antonio, you are so lucky!!!!! Hands down the most delicious, juicy, cooked to perfection chicken, you need to do your life a favor and run here and try it if you haven't already. Since I was visiting the area I drove down here and it was just as good as the ones in Mexico. Service here was friendly and the staff was very helpful. After placing our order, within 5-10 min out our order was out. We went with our usual, whole chicken, side of taquitos, side of potato's and coleslaw. The food is just outragesly good, a 10/10 on EVERYTHING. Pollo Pechugon your a gem. You know how to do chicken top tier and I appreciate that. I can't wait to find you somewhere else again or back here in San Antonio. Thanks Pollo Pechugon for my killer lunch!!! Best lunch of my whole trip!!"
"I must admit I have a serious aversion to buffets. I never understood their mass appeal nor their popularity. In my experiences with them it is always a thousand food sides( salads, mash potatoes, pastas, rice and vegetables. ) next to two meats. Always accompanied by impatient patrons tailgating behind you with tongs in tow. Offset by piles and piles of desserts I somehow never get to sample, no matter how big my appetite is. However, in my next culinary adventure with Chef Don B. he suggested trying Hacienda Vallarta's buffet. Needless to say it's not hard to twist my arm with a good tortilla or great company.Again ever the wise sage Don emphasized getting there early. Arriving here by 11 am but leaving by 2pm I saw exactly what he meant. But let me rewind my review back to the beginning as a person who rewinds a cassette with a pencil. Basically you pay up front which around is $13 bucks for the lunch buffet, 15 for the dinner one not including a drink. You take your ticket to a table and a server brings: drinks, utensils and removes all plates after you are finished with them. In San Antonio there are not alot of Mexican buffets. I do remember the one at Pancho's on Marbach Road.As with all buffets your first go round is meant to survey the different stations to strategize your next serving. Here there is: picadillo, carnitas, enchiladas, beef fillings for tacos, beans made with lard, chicarones, small gordita tortillas, toppings etc. Not to be outdone along the other side is a small selection of Chinese and American Food. And across the room there is a section for desserts: flan, banana pudding, churros. You get the picture. Yes patrons maneuver around the different stations like a school of hangry fish. The thing is food is spread out leaving space for patrons to reconfigure their food strategies. Before I go on the service was impeccable. Our server went above and beyond. I would leave to fine tune my buffet strategy only to find my glass filled with another drink. In my opinion if you're wanting to sample different Mexican foods this is the way to go. The food is good. For example the picadillo and beans are greasy, right up my alley. The tortillas are thick but you have to request for them: flour or corn. And Don was right. By 1 pm. the place, which is pretty vast was brimming with patrons. Music in the background playing was Norteno, Regional Mexican which matched the fast paced but laid-back vibe. After the 100th plate I finally tapped out.Hacienda Vallarta on Bandera Street heading towards Leon Valley is a good intermediary if you want to sample Mexican Foods. The food is good, the service is excellent and the price is right. I saw construction workers, out of towners, ladies doing "Girl Talk" and everyone else in between. But food is always better in great company I'm learning. Next stop, "Hole in the wall" Chinese cuisine. Any suggestions?"
"The business name is really 'Tortilleria'. I misspelled it the first time and have just corrected it.Anyway, we have purchased barbacoa on a Sunday with all the fixings: avocado, cilantro, pico de gallo, onions and corn tortillas. The all-meat is very good, albeit a little salty. No gross blobs of fat or whatever. Spanish is the primary language of the employees, but that's OK.They offer chicharrones and the like. Puro la raza.Go there."
"The food here is absolutely amazing and the service is top notch! I'm a sucker for fresh guacamole and this place gives me just that. Who knew something so simple could be so delicious! The drinks are always on point. I hate going somewhere for "drinks" and what I order comes back tasting like juice. Koodos to the bartenders! The shot flights are an absolute must to try.The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Perfect spot for a date night or small gathering with family/friends."
