"What can one say about Papa John's Pizza? It's going to be all about who is hired at this particular location at the time and who is delivering it. I would use Uber Eats and not call it in because then you're using THEM and not a service meant for delivery and it comes faster, in my experience. We've had one bad problem with the pizza and we received a credit for our pizza and a credit for a future pizza and wings. So we were pleased. Again, this was based on employees there at the time. It is a franchise, after all. Probably rolling the dice there. Pizza is typical Papa John's quality. A 7/10. So good for a pizza night when you're tired of dealing with the wait times of other "local places"."
"The Italian subs and the combo sandwiches here are amazing! Fresh bread, lots of meats, beautiful lettuce, tomatoes and the Italian dressing tops it off perfectly. We always get them toasted and usually end up taking half home."

"Small local restaurant. Food was great! Restaurant was clean. Staff wasn't the friendliest or super attentive. Other than that experience was good."
"Delivery was pretty fast, showed up 10 minutes earlier than estimated. The food was great, family really enjoyed the pizza and the cost for everything wasn't horrible.Overall, my Wife's Fupa was pleased."
"I was hesitant to try this place after reading reviews but it was actually great and we really liked it. Mango chamoy margaritas were amazingI got the chicken flautas and they were great as well as the beans and rice. Everything was flavorful and the white queso was the bomb! We will be returning"
"Have came here about 8 times throughout the year. Have had nothing but great experiences.I know recently, the news article reported they are struggling to maintain afloat.I'll list pros & cons here and a few suggestions:Pros:-there are plenty of flavors, both their specialty and their 10+ sauce/rub options-indoor seating with a few TVs to watch sportsCons(which in my opinion are issues which can be solved):-because there's lots of flavor options, there is a major holdup in the kitchen. Especially if there's large groups of people eating lunch. We've spent over 45 minutes waiting for our food at times which has caused us to withhold going if we know we have a meeting scheduled after lunch. It's also cutting it close for the hourly workers who have to clock in-clock out for their lunch hour.-there is no "lunch menu", everything is à la carte which can make it a bit pricey. How to solve issues:-downsize menu options. Less items to cook means shorter wait times.-create a lunch menu. This would also speed up the process as well as create a fixed cost. Easily you can spend $20-$25 on lunch when you add fries and a drink. I love wings; this is the best wing spot in town hands down. There are things they can do to improve, we are all pulling for their success!"
"23 Aug 2024Knockouts was part of our pub crawl this past Friday. It's not as 'nice' as say, Sparky's, but it's not totally a dive, either. We were there relatively early, about 5:30pm. We sat at the bar with a few other people. The bottled beer was cold and only $2.00. There are a couple of TVs at the bar and they weren't tuned to RuPaul!! Ha. Ha. Actually tuned to ESPN. Khloe was the bartender and the music we were hearing was one of her playlists. Pretty good stuff. She was quite personable. This bar is quite spacious with ample indoor seating as well as patio seating out front. There is a window from which the outsiders can order a drink without coming in. Another plus is that you can walk through to Pup's Pizza, right next door if you get the hangries. Go there."
"I ordered from here for the first time and once again, YELP did not disappoint!! I got the shrimp and wings and wedge fries! The OG sauce was amazing!!! They were really know how to season their food!! Love this place!!"
"I really enjoyed the frozen cocktails here! I liked the bee's knees one the most and the staff working was really kind and helpful! He let me sample a couple of the frozens before I ordered. The bean and cheese dip are served cold so not sure I would get the cheese again but the chips and wings were good! Really cute and casual place to order a drink that has a lot of seating options!"
"Awesome Lisa and pizza rolls . Can't wait to go back to try the wings; heard they rock"
"Wayne's Wings is hands-down the best wing spot I've ever been to! The Jacob wings are an absolute flavor explosion--perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and tossed in the most incredible sauce that will have you licking your fingers long after they're gone. You have to pair them with fries smothered in your choice of their signature sauces--trust me, you won't regret it. Every bite is pure heaven, and the combination of flavors is unmatched. The staff is super friendly, the vibe is laid-back and fun, and you can tell they take pride in every order. If you're a wing lover (or just a food lover in general), Wayne's Wings is a must-visit. Five stars aren't enough to describe how amazing this place is!"
"Great spot, huge portions, fair pricing, and BYOB encouraged. Been in on and off over the past couple years for their great fried rice and catfish but tried their crab boil a couple months back and it shot to the top of my list. Great flavors and cooked perfectly so you can crack shells and pull out huge pieces of crab without a fight, they gave me in a constant state of craving."

Order pick for pick up went smooth. The inside was pretty busy. The seating was limited because it was a Friday night and everyone was looking for pizza I guess. The pizza was okay. Pretty mid. I'm noticing papa John's pizza is best fresh. It doesn't reheat well at all. Right out the box when I picked it up was really good. Once the temp cooled- that freshness must've cooled off with it. But no overall issues. I wish they had chicken as a topping selection.

I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, one meatball and a drink. The meal comes with bread which is tasty dunked in olive oil. I would order this meal again because the sauce isn't too sweet and the meatball was tender and savory. Also the noodles were Al dente. For $18.35, I left the eatery fully satisfied.

This place is a perfect brew pub. The beer is great and the food definitely delivers. Hard to understand some of the reviews as it is obvious those folks haven't been to a brew pub before. The service is spot on and they go out of their way to be helpful. As far as the place itself, well let's say good food, good beer, add a family friendly atmosphere and you have a win, win! Try the Texas cheese steak with sweet potato fries, trust!

Good pizza for the price and time. It was meaty and cheesy!! Also they don't charge for the Parmesan cheese or hot pepper flakes.

Food to go. Amazing as always. The food is always so good. I have eaten in house and take away equally. The best Mexican food and the best people serving the food. I like that a lot of there dishes are not hidden under cheese. I like cheese but this food doesn't need it. My favorite is tacos Al pastor. The beans rice salsa are excellent too.

How did I not know about this place before today? Found it because it was close to a meeting I had around lunchtime and couldn't have been more pleased and surprised. The outside of the restaurant is very misleading. I was thinking "hole in the wall" but when you come inside it was actually clean and had ample tables. Parking is limited in the front, but extra spaces are behind the building. It was hard to decide from the range of choices, but I ended up trying 3 flavors of wings. The Honey Habanero, Carolina BBQ and Honey Saracha. All three were amazing. Hot, sweet and then tangy was a great combination. While my mouth was on fire from the Habanero, I could still enjoy the taste of the other two. The breading and sauces are made fresh and are something special. My only recommendation is for the owner to provide a larger ranch dipping sauce dish. It was a bit small and you will pay extra for another dip. The staff was friendly and served the tables often. I'm definitely going back to try the Chimichurri wings, because I can't stop thinking about it. I might even try the banana pudding cup, or the tres leches cake to top the experience.

I was split between 4 and 5 stars. As some of the other reviews indicate, it does depend on which night you go and what the atmosphere will be like. When split, I round up They have very friendly staff working most nights. The drink prices (especially before 11pm) are amazing. Some of the cheapest I've found in town...and they don't skimp.Weekends have been very busy recently. Lots of people dancing in the backroom. Lively crowd chilling on the patio.

I visited this To-Go place today. The food was pretty good. They do have a long wait so I would suggest you order at least 30 min ahead of your arrival. They also have outdoor seating that's nice when the weather and outdoor environment is good.

"The app makes ordering so easy. Delivery is very fast, and the pizza is great! The Chicken Fresco pizza and any pizza made with old world pepperoni are especially good. Don't change anything."
"My family and I went to the one located on Alamo Ranch Pwky. The food was fresh and delicious, clean environment and the service here was great!"
"Upon arriving, I was kindly greeted by the owner. They had some good music playing. I loved the variety of the menu and how clean the restaurant was, especially the tables. The owner provided excellent service and was attentive. It seems like they are very connected and supportive of the community, which is truly awesome.I had the original Chicago hot dog and a wing + catfish combo. The food was well seasoned and prepared. All of the meats were well cooked and delicious and the fries were okay.I will definitely be returning!"
"Having recently moved to Texas, I am always looking for new pizza spots to try. I had never heard of Mattenga's, until they showed up on a random list of best pizza places in specific categories. Mattenga's happened to be chosen for best pizza commercial. I looked them up and they looked pretty good. So, I happened to be in San Antonio for the day and thought I would give them a shot, so this location happened to be the one I was closest too. It is not a sit down location. However, it does have counter space along the wall and window, with a few chairs. I think this was a Papa John's before, so you have an idea of the size. I ordered a BYOP 16" and some wings. The gentleman that took my order asked if I would like to try their pepperoni rolls, on the house. I gladly accepted. They have Pepsi products here, so I ordered water, because I would never drink Pepsi. They didn't even have Dr. Pepper, which I would have preferred. He informed me that they didn't have water in the system yet, since they had just opened recently, so he offered the water free of charge. The pizza rolls came out first. We were asked if we would like to try either of the house made ranch dips. The Texas Ranch ( jalapeño cilantro ranch) and Mattenga's Ranch (basil garlic ranch). We opted for both. I do love a good ranch dip and these did not disappoint! Probably the best ranch that I have ever tasted. The pepperoni rolls were very good as well. The wings came out next and they were just the way I like them; crispy and saucy. I am definitely ordering them again. The pizza soon followed, and it looked great! It tasted very good. Crispy undercarriage, and pillowy cornicione. I really enjoyed the cheese pull, as well as the quality of their cheese. They use a conveyor oven for everything, so the wait time wasn't too bad.I have been back to this location one more time since my first visit. So, it's pretty safe to say, I will be a repeat customer. I will definitely try the other locations as well. However, it will be hard to do that, when this is a pretty great location with great customer service. They take pride in the product that they are putting out and it really shows in the quality."
"Ordered the buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Ordered just a medium size and glad I did. The large would've been way too much. The sandwich was very good and flavorful. Just the right amount of sauce to make it Tasty and flavorful without making it too much of a mess. A very good sandwich. Also added a gourmet combo of fries. Comes with cheese and bacon. Fries seemed a bit soggy and light on flavor. The cheese sauce and bacon was nothing special on it as well. But overall was a good experience and will be back again."
"Very good atmosphere, the bartenders are all super friendly, attentive, and fun! They have special events often if you follow their social media. They do offer food as well :)"
"Service was so great. The young lady who assisted was so helpful in giving me a history of the restaurant and the flavors, etc. I can see this place exploding real soon because there is nothing like it in the area. Great job and I will be back."
"First review! Woo! Go me.If you've had Capo's anywhere else in town, you know this place is the truth. They claim Buffalo style pizza, but it would also stand up in NYC or Jersey. This place has an excellent NY-style pie. The sauce isn't over-seasoned or too dense. The cheese has the right amount of coverage and oil. It's always best if you order a fresh pie. They do offer slices, but be aware that they're gonna be a little drier and crispier if you order them later in the day unless they're really churning them out and have to make fresh pies. That's just how pizza by the slice is. No getting around it.My advice is to grab a couple friends, sit down at JT's, grab a pitcher and a pie, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed."
"Omg this place is a hidden gem that I have driven past for years!! The place never caught my attention before until a funnel cake stand was set up in front of them. We decided to try their burgers since we were already there and wow. So good! Definitely coming back for more."
"While checking out at the Walmart self checkout I spy a Charley's Cheesesteaks which I had never heard of before. Not quite hungry but wanting a snack my husband and I decide to head over and get a simple Philly cheesesteak to share. We got the 6" (small). Right off the cashier was attentive and polite. Placed my order quickly and waited about 3 mins. (There were 2 customers in front of me) I could see items being cooked fresh which only added to my excitement. When my number was called another polite employee gave me my order and noted that there were napkins etc over there if I needed them. Over the top helpfulness! Wanting to love the idea of Philly cheesecake but never really finding a business that makes it how I like it I wasn't expecting too much. After all I am in a Walmart grocery store. However with my first bite I was sold!! SO delicious!! I found myself wanting more than half the sandwich. Surely my husband can't know where the half line is right?! Just another nibble to even it up...Ugh! I had the sandwich to my husband and jump on my phone to see if this company is in Utah. THEY ARE! I was pleasantly surprised with this sandwich. Not being able to say more than that since it's all we ordered but know we will be back!! I only hope the employees at the Utah locations are as courteous as the employees were at this one. Please give them my praise. It really makes a difference!! Until next time...K"
"This pizza was served during a kids birthday party hosted at SAPB (SA plastic bricks). The pizza was spectacularly authentic NY pizza. The pizza dough was on point! Highly recommend supporting this local small business."
"This review is for Tap Rack Social. Their venue is a really laid back place that has virtual golf, soccer and shooting. It has a nice Lou he area a bar and a mattengas to order food from. The vibe overall was amazing. From good food and drinks to a lot of fun and entertainment. The service here has never been bad. I highly recommend this place for birthdays, sports events or even group functions."
"Love, love the pizza for many years plus the greek salad w/ ranch dressing. Thin crust pizza is a good change for Bulverde."
"The pizza rolls have a chokehold on me. The pasta is so delicious, portions are generous. There are so many options on the menu we're still trying things. But the pizza sauce keeps me going back. Don't skip dessert, even if you're full, take it to go it's so great! We usually get our order to go, because there isn't too much seats g, and it's usually very fast and friendly."
"Every single time I have been to this location it is absolutely terrible and I feel so ripped off. I ordered online at 8:04 and drove away at 8:52 pm. As soon as I pulled up to the window all the guy said was "pull forward please." So I sat and waited for the longest time for someone to bring a grease covered bag out with the boxes of food literally thrown in. And this is what $50.00 and a waste of 45 minutes got me, burned, dry unappetizing food with the worst possible service. I blame myself for not learning my lesson the first times. I have learned this time and will never be back and I do not recommend anyone waste their money."
"Arrived about 30 mins before close. The gas station area was well lit, so I wasn't too worried about the people pulling in and out. Ordered the 6 piece leg and thighs. It took about 7-10 minutes, but it was hot and fresh as advertised. The skin was crispy and it was well seasoned without going over the top with it. I'd recommend this place for the chicken, but I haven't tried the seafood."
"When I want pizza, it's always going to be Mattengas! Their pizza is AMAZING. Seriously, I've had so many pizzas from there & there hasn't been a time it's has been perfect. Also, don't forget to ask for their Texas Ranch! It's so good!"
"One word to sum it up? Delicious! Drinks are refreshing and wings always hit the spot. Never had a bad server and always greeted with a smile. Not Big fan of the sports but we love to go and eat, relax, and catch up!"
"Oh my, my, my! I am a fried chicken fanatic ever since I was a little boy taking fried chicken to school everyday for my lunch. Since Mrs. Kitchen soul food kitchen closed I had been looking for something close to their fried chicken, and oh have I found something very close I Babes crispy fried chicken. They have a winner so far and I've already been back three times to see if they are consistent and oh I have yet to be disappointed. Their service has been great and when I asked could they cook it fresh they said if you don't mind the wait and of course I said sure. Oh my, my, my good crispy and tasty fried chicken. The place is small and nice. And I ordered it to go each time and had no issues. This place deserves all the stars. Keep it up and I'll keep coming because I love me some good ole fried chicken!"
"First, our server was fantastic. She did a great job describing the menu and different flavors. Awesome 10/10 service. However, the reason we didn't give them 5 stars was because there was soooooo little meat on the wings. Scrawniest wings ever. The boneless chicken is definitely the way to go. The secret sauce was our favorite flavor, followed by the soy garlic. The Gangnam style tasted a little burnt. If/when we go back, which I want to for different flavors and to try the whole chicken pieces, we won't get bone in wings again.Environment wise, it was just LOUD in there. The music was too loud for the space. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with someone sitting across the table.I was disappointed they were out of both the potstickers and the kimchi fried rice. Maybe next time."
"4.5 stars rounded up. We're big fans of Big Lou's pizza! Our go-to order is the 14-inch pizza with pepperoni and pineapple, which is always delicious and satisfying. The Honey BBQ and Sweet BBQ wings are tasty, but they were a bit too spicy for our taste. They're a good size, but we rather save room for more pizza. The interior they keep sitting us at has a sports bar vibe, with dark rooms and numerous TVs showing various channels. I'm used to it now, but it seemed super dark to me when I first came. Service here is consistently good. For the best experience and shorter wait times, I recommend visiting between 1:00 and 4:00 PM on weekdays. We went on a Friday around 5 or 6 PM and it was still manageable, but on a Saturday at 3 PM, we waited 30-45 minutes for a table for two. Honestly, it was worth the wait still. Heads up: They've recently implemented a policy requiring an ID to match the credit card used for payment. While I don't mind showing ID, I prefer paying directly at the cashier rather than having the waiter take it. This measure is due to previous issues with fraudulent charges, so just be prepared to present your ID. Also, there's a 3% credit card fee."
"Best wings in the San Antonio area! I had the cajun dry rub and wet buffalo lemon pepper which are a definite must try if you haven't had the opportunity yet. I was disappointed to learn they no longee have the delicious hand cut style home fries because they were my fav. They have regular frozen bag fries, but if you are coming for the chicken you won't be disappointed. I've heard great things about the frozen drinks also, but I haven't had a chance to try one for review yet. I highly reccoment this place."
"Food:My mom and I shared The Situation (pesto, pepperoni, salami, pepperoncini, red onion and basil) and the fried Brussels (lemon, honey parm). The pizza crust itself was light and airy, but still stood up to the toppings. As for the toppings: the pesto on the pizza tasted fresh like they had made it in house, the pepperoni was not too greasy, and I appreciated that everything else was cut into thin strips and spread evenly across the pizza. All in all, we throughly enjoyed this pie/flavor combo and found it to be well balanced. The fried Brussels were recommended by over server after I inquired about the most popular starters. They were crispy, but not burnt or greasy. The lemon, honey and parm toppings paired nicely with the Brussels-- again a well balanced dish. Seating: There are plenty of tables both indoors and outdoors + a bar area. It's a great space to gather and be social. There was a huge group of cyclists who stopped in while we were there. Service:I want to preface this by saying that everyone was nice and welcoming. There is a hostess at the front who seated us and took our order. However, it was our first time there, and we didn't know that we had to go back to the stand to pay at the end of our meal. We were done with our food for a while before we noticed. I wish that would have been explained to us since they don't offer what I would consider traditional service like checking on us past initially receiving the food, refilling waters or bringing the check. Maybe it would have been different if we were also ordering drinks. It like there's a hostess, but no real server. I've seen complaints about service from other reviewers. Personally, I think they should require customers to order and pay up front prior to receiving the food. They could track orders with numbers or placards. That way the customer doesn't expect service that the staff are unable to provide especially when the restaurant gets busy. Verdict:I'll definitely be back, and try to-go ordering."
