Broadway Daily Bread

It's a little quirk of mine to get a list of signature things, especially food, from an area and see if I can find "the best" version of said item. Such was the case with the fruit kolache in Texas. After a few misses (and they will remain nameless here), I found, on my last stop before departing, the raspberry kolache from Broadway Daily Bread on my last stop before departing. The shop was a buzz of activity on a Friday morning, with some of the bread and baked goods just behind the counter in racks and displays, making it easy to find something that might fit your appetite. It felt like a place that locals frequented and had a cozy atmosphere. I came away with two of the baked delights and after trying them, I can easily say these were the best of three or four places I visited. They had a wonderful fluffy texture and the raspberry was perfectly balanced. It's probably very good that I don't live closer to this incredible bakery, but I'm happy for the residents of San Antonio.

I've been looking at trying fresh milled flour and this place was great. I found the price reasonable for the quality. I paid $4 for a small loaf, and the cashier sliced it after I ordered. They have a loyalty program, and I would definitely take advantage of it if I was from the area.

So convenient - leave through one door and enter through another just across the way.There are racks of bread (various types) just behind the counter area. Likewise, there are various sweet breads, which we were there for. Took home an almond croissant and a pecan bar. Both freakin' delicious. Only $6.75 for the two.The counter folks were friendly and helpful. If I'd been working, baking and on my feet since 7am, I doubt I could be smiling and be too helpful at 2pm.They also have cinnamon rolls, lemon bars and other yummy items.They noticed I was taking home some of my lunch and offered a larger bag to hold the baked goods and my lunch box.Thanks for being so thoughtful.Go there.

In the past, the experience has been lovely. Yet, I think since they got new people working the front, they aren't as friendly. For example, today I walked in around 1pm and wasn't acknowledged. There were 3 people behind me waiting in line. The lady who was ordering basically was taking the rest of the inventory and she mentioned to one of the younger ladies helping her that they could help us waiting in line. To which she replied they can wait. And I was just taken aback because the lady who used to work there consistently was so friendly. Anyways, just left a bad taste in my mouth and I left without any product, as did the other people in line behind me. A little friendliness goes a long way. Sad to see this today, but hopefully there's a shift in the customer service.

To be honest, I have somewhat of a sweet tooth! However, this bakery served me some great satisfaction! I believe it is the best bakery in South Texas. We purchased the ginger biscotti, the macadamia cookies and the monkey bread. All left me wanting more. The people were especially nice and warm and the prices were good. Their shelves were pretty bare at 1:30 because of the Christmas season demand but i cannot tell you just how great these sweets tasted. Perfection at its best! I will dream tonight about my monkey bread to eat in the morning. Unfortunately the cookies and biscotti barely made it home and have been long gone ;) Enjoy!

My favorite bakery in San Antonio! This place makes the best drag bread and by far the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. I've never had anything disappointing here. Highly recommended.

Just the perfect local bakery! Kind people, consistent products, and incredible bread, muffins, pastries, cookies, etc. it's all good! Call ahead to reserve your sourdough because it goes fast but it's so worth it!! So many coffee shops/ bakeries/ restaurants just look and feel the same now bc they're trying to cater to social media and be trendy, but BDB is just authentically itself. A sweet neighborhood bakery looking to serve the community.

The bakery and sandwiches are fantastic. Love this place the sour cream pecan blueberry muffins are my favorite!

Everyone who works here is so nice. I order my challah by phone every Friday. It's the best in town, and you can't beat their bread rewards. The chocolate chip cookies are also delicious!

Sorry folks but this is NOT an Italian bakery.An Italian bakery has crusty loaves of bread and breadsticks - hard and crispy, with and without seeds.An Italian bakery has biscotti, butter cookies, tri-colore cookies and regina cookies.They have ricotta cheesecake as well as the more popular - but less Italian - NY cheesecake.Kolaches and scones and muffins are not Italian fare. I'm sure they do a good job (based on reviews, but honestly I need to find an authentic Italian bakery.
