When I'm looking for classic San Antonio enchiladas, this is my go-to spot. Every time I've been, they are SLAMMED with a line out the door, but the food always comes out super quick and piping hot.I haven't tried anything other than their cheese enchiladas, but why would I?! This is what they're famous for.I love that it feels like a diner and the ladies working are always so so nice to me. Next time I have out-of-town friends visiting, I want to take them here for the experience!

Pros: neighborhood staple Cons: not sure why it's a neighborhood staple It's an older food establishment with diner seating and regular dining tables. One of the places that makes you feel the food has to be good because people aren't coming here for the decor or vibes. Sadly, that wasn't the case for me. I got three tacos: asada, carne guisada, and bean and cheese. Homemade flour tortillas, but very disappointed for a place that has signs about having award winning food and continues to have crowds of people on the weekend. Not sure what the rage is about. Carne guisada taco fell apart, was expected but still not a fan of how messy it became. It's stewed beef in brown gravy. What I did expect to receive was the cheese it came with, still no where to be found as seen in pic. Meat was wet from gravy, but the actual meat itself was dry once I bit into it. Carne asada taco was terrible. The meat was rubbery and no signs of any Maillard reaction. Asada means grill, but that meat was tough and terribly disappointing. Bean and cheese taco was the old reliable. But at this point after trying the others I couldn't care for it as much. Didn't mess this one up thankfully. Server who took my to go order was kind and courteous. Food did come out promptly but I would've waited a couple extra minutes if there was more attention to add the correct ingredients I was charged for. May return to ask which plates are award winning but what a poor experience for a place with so much notoriety.

It has been well over a decade since I've eaten here, and it's only gotten better!!!! A true gem in the neighborhood where the service is fantastic and the food is even better!! I had the chicken enchilada plate with rice and beans and a chorizo and egg taco. The tortillas are the softest I've ever had. So good that we bought a bag to take with us. It's not too big, not too small. It's the kind of place where they get to know you and take care of you like family. Positive energy, positive vibes, great smiles, exceptional service!! A MUST if you're ever in San Antonio!!

Blanco Cafe is amazing!Came here on a Saturday morning at 830 am, and it was packed! Luckily there were a few open tables so we didn't have to wait.I ordered the Carne Guisada, Eggs, and Potatoes plate. It was absolutely amazing! The Flour Tortilla here is absolutely delicious. It is fluffy, fresh, and adds more flavor than your typical tortilla. Grata food, fast and friendly service, and a family-type vibe. Highly recommend for Mexican food enthusiasts!

I drive by the place weekly but never stopped until today. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were seated...no line...no wait. It was at 2pm on a Saturday. The place was packed!! This restaurant serves Tex-Mex food, so I ordered their cheese enchiladas. Needless to say... I will be coming back! Those enchiladas were delicious!! The server was friendly and fast-paced. My experience here was pleasant.Come check them out for yourself!!

Not really impressed by this restaurant for a list of reasons. But up front; great tortillas, great rice, great carne guisada, great cheese enchiladas. On our visit we were served drinks and given menus, then our waitress never returned. I got up to find her, she said she forgot about us and then took our order. After food delivered never saw her again, had to once again hunt her down to get the check so we could leave. We were told they were short handed, so your experience may vary. I found it a bit pricy here, entrees seemed priced more in line with downtown touristy Mexican restaurants (think Mi Tierra Cafe) than a neighborhood place. And you pay for everything. In a city where the majority of Mexican restaurants drop free chips and salsa on your table as you sit down, here they are $4 if you order them. Need a to go box? That'll cost you. Want more than 2 oz of pico de gallo? $$. I think the only things we were not charged extra for were the napkins. Not impressed with the chorizo and bean taco; chorizo not drained and not enough bean so very greasy taco. Chicken in the chicken enchiladas was dried out, so not good like the cheese. A bit of sauce in there would help. The pico de gallo had no lime juice or cilantro, was just chunks of jalapeño, tomato, and onion. Over cooked and dried out frijoles too. The restaurant was nice enough, lots of tables and clean. They were very busy so perhaps our experience was the exception and not the rule.

Got around to trying out Blanco Cafe after being repeatedly warned we would spend a good amount of time waiting if we weren't early enough- I am pleased to report that at 11:30 my party of two waited ten minutes tops! Our server was very kind and prompt, in fact, it felt like zero time had passed between putting in our order to the food arriving at the table. The portions were as generous as they were flavorful! I enjoyed my barbacoa plate enough that I'd certainly order it again. I love a place that feels small enough to be a mom and pop shop yet is buzzing with hustling energy all at once, and Blanco Cafe delivers on that!

Our server was on her ps & qs! She took care of us as fast as possible. They were out of barbacoa when we came so we were all sad to hear that! I resorted to the brisket plate, meat was dry and plate said potatoes not potato salad. I still ate the plate because it was delicious regardless of the things I would have changed. The space is really small so try to keep your party small. The wait was quick and we were seated in less than 15 minutes of arriving!
