Enjoyed a great breakfast at Black Bear Diner in New Braunfels! The portions here are generous and perfect for a hearty start to the day. I had the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, and it was well-seasoned, crispy, and delicious. My friend ordered the classic Bear Claw French Toast, which was unique and packed with flavor. The menu has a nice variety of choices, from traditional breakfast items to more inventive dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a fun bear-themed decor that makes it feel like a rustic cabin. Service was friendly and attentive, though we did experience a bit of a wait, which is understandable given the diner's popularity. Overall, Black Bear Diner is a solid choice if you're looking for a filling, comfort-food breakfast in New Braunfels!

My family has visited Black Bear diners in Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and now Texas. Some were better than others. The 3 things that they all have in common are, affordable food, huge servings and good service. The New Braunfels location differs from the others because it is not a stand alone restaurant. It is located in a gasoline station which loses that comforting, homey feel for me. It is also important to note that they do not have their own restrooms, so you will have to go out of the restaurant and go into the main restrooms inside the gas station. It's a bit of a hassle. However, we figured we'd give them a try. We have visited them 3 times so far. Service was always good. Food is pretty consistent with the other locations we have visited, except for our last visit where I was served 2 very burnt sausage patties with my pancakes. If it looks like charcoal, it obviously is not edible, right? Anyway, our server was very apologetic when I sent it back and promised to bring me fresh ones. It never came even after we got done eating. It was not her fault. She did take it off our bill and gave us a $5 gift card. We still like Black Bear and might still stop by once in a while, especially if we're in the area.

Service was perfect and quick, but not rushed. Thanks Petra, such a bubbly & positive outlook.Tip: Join the birthday club...just do it, it's free.I went with the Bear's choice breakfast. It's two eggs, with choice of meats, plus choice of breads (I did the waffle!). The CHICKEN SAUSAGE were in huge links. The downside is that the line cook used batter that was too thick. The waffle was so dense, unlike fluffy ones elsewhere. Breakfast is served all day. It's located at the end of a truck stop, but it is not a truck stop type of restaurant. It was very clean. The restrooms are just outside by the Popeyes.

Got there right before a morning rush! Seated right away. Huge menu with lots to choose from but we came for breakfast. Hubs got eggs over easy, bacon, sweet cream pancakes and hash browns. I got mild sausage(not a fan), eggs over medium and cinnamon roll French toast. Our eggs were cooked perfectly! Pancakes were amazing! My cinnamon roll French toast was great but a little too much for me. I should have gone with regular French toast. Hash browns are cut thick and very good. You don't feel like you are in a truck stop but an actual diner. Place was clean and server, hostess and checkout were all pleasant. They only have Pepsi products so that was the saddest part for me. Diet Pepsi I not Diet Coke. Oh, I do love that they have "lighter" versions of all their foods at the bottom!!!

Went on a Monday morning to have breakfast with my kids. It wasn't packed, maybe about 4 other tables occupied. We were seated, looked over the menu and decided to get the Grizz which includes 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage links and ham and we also got the chicken fried steak. Both included a side of hash browns, red potatoes, grits or a side of fruits. We were informed they didn't have hash browns or pancakes so they subbed it for waffles and potatoes. The reason for my low review is due to our order taking 50 minutes from the time we put in our order. Considering it's just a simple diner, 50 minutes and not that many people there is a little excessive. If you're looking for a quick stop to eat, this isn't it. Our server did apologize and said they were backed up in the kitchen. Also, I wish we would've known ahead of time that they didn't have pancakes and hash browns. The food was average, nothing worth 50 minutes waiting for. 2 star because our server Betty was great. Very friendly, sweet and patient.

We were passing by the area and hear about this new resturaunt attached to the TA Gas station and wanted to give it a shot. The business was very easy to find and so much parking.Once arrived we were quickly greeted and seated. We loved the atmosphere of the diner. Bears everywhere! On the table, carvings of bears in the poles, bear curtains, EVERYTHING! We loved it. The menu was vast and we wanted to try everything. The server was very kind, and explained the menu to us. I ordered the Grizz which came with everything! And my girlfriend ordered the BIGFOOT Chicken fried Steak. The food came out fast, and it was delicious! So if you're driving around the area and need to fill up for gas and fill up for food, then I highly recommend this place.

So I actually would rate it 4 stars for only one reason...it's attached to a truck stop and does NOT have it's own restrooms inside the restaurant. You have to exit the restaurant and use the truck stop bathroom which is NOT very clean With that being said, the food was really good, hot and fresh. The restaurant is very big with plenty of seating. The menu is massive so give yourself time to look over everything!

First, its next to a gas station...its a truck stop. We, along with a few other people, waited 10 minutes to get on the list to be seated but were ignored by multiple staff members. I get it, you have a host stand, but it needs to have someone there or have someone atleast come and take the names. We left without being acknowledged.

The POT ROSE WAS A DELICIOUS! EXTREMELY NICE AND TENDER WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF VEGETABLES! There was also a small bowl of soup chicken noodles. I'm taking a about to go!! It was also an abundance of onion rings on my plate & a small bowl of coleslaw. Which was nice fresh. Actually quite refreshing! Top that all off with a nice hot cup of green tea! There were two waitresses on the floor. Very accommodating very sweet and very nice. They both have an excellent attitude and beautiful smiles! My waitress name was what's your name Layni. Very nice. I will most definitely come again. I also like the fact that the manager welcomed everyone that came in the restaurant.
