Saw the great reviews from a while ago and finally decided to try it out. Very glad we did. Though the little plaza can be somewhat hard to find, once you see it it's not bad. It is right next door to The Fade Masterz Barbershop.Amazing atmosphere, very well maintained and well designed Hawaiian theme interior, with extremely well layout home owned restaurant. Definitely has zero corporately owned chain store atmosphere. The menus are well layout at the register on 3 monitors, with special canned drinks nicely displaying next to the register. We ordered the Teri Chicken and the Surf N Turf w/ Garlic Steak. Oh-so-amazingly well marinated and seasoned. Feels like you're right in Hawaii. The spam musubi is also well made and warm. They also provide Kalani the owner, was a medically retired veteran and takes care of all military related personnel. He is probably one of the most pleasant fellow military people that I have met. Even made our visit special by announcing my name over the speakers when our food was ready. Wow. Because of Kalani and the great food, we will definitely come back to try more. Keep up the good work Kalani and Big Aloha's!

This place is a hidden gem! We were hungry and I was just on yelp looking up places to eat at and stumbled across this place. The reviews were great so we went. This place is hidden but if you do go you're going to love it. Everything was cooked to perfection. My chicken was so juicy and flavorful, curry chicken was 10/10! Add the curry to the rice and it's even better!! I got this drink and probably one of the best juice/ soda thing I've tasted in awhile! If I'm ever on the side of town again I will for sure go! I also want to add the service was fantastic. The gentle man taking and serving orders was really kind and explained what each thing was to us.

I'm a transplant here in San Antonio, TX. Born and raised in Hawaii, I was missing the flavors of home. Friends have also told us about this place, so tonight we drove 28 miles to check it out. My husband and I both ordered Kalua pork and cabbage plates. The plates are served with a scoop of white rice and mac (that's macaroni) salad. Mmm, the taste is just like home. The kalua pork is savory, smokey and very tender. The cabbage had a slight crunch (indicating freshness), not over cooked, just the way I like it! Unfortunately the rice was less to be desired. It was cooked with too much water as it was mushy. The mac salad, in its simplicity, was spot on delicious! They have an extensive menu of local dishes, like chicken katsu, kalbi, teriyaki chicken, poke, and lomi salmon...to name a few. Also available are a variety of Hawaiian Sun drinks, like guava, orange lilikoi, mango orange, etc.The restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall in Universal City. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the Hawaiian flag and other local elements. There were approximately a dozen tables to sit at, and it appears a curtain served to partition off a section of the dining room. When we arrived there were only a few people dining. As soon as we got our food, people were rolling in. By the time we were ready to leave there was a line of people waiting to order. Needless to say, if you're looking for local Hawaiian food, this is the spot!

From all the Hawaiian restaurants we have eaten at, this is by far the best tasting authentic Hawaiian food. The owners are very community centric. Always lending a helping hand to people who suffer. I have tried almost everything on the menu and was never disappointed. Ali's Cove treats every customer as Ohana.

So the service was very good. You order they prepare and call your name to pick up. The vege options are slim to none. I had cabbage, a bit bland but ok. The terri chicken was a bit overcooked for chicken. You will definitely need a knife. The other options looked the same as they came out for my friends. The pricing was descent so I would say give it a try.

I was in the area for an evening appointment and had some time before it started. Stopped by for a little dinner because I didn't want the regular fast food options. Be decision ever. The place is in a little strip center, but when you walk in, you know it's real. The family is very friendly and the food is made with love and care. I ordered the 3 meat combo with Teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, and spicy pork. It was a great portion size, tender and succulent. The combo was under $20, and well worth the cost. It also came out extremely fast. I have tried some of the other Hawaiian places in town and this one is my favorite. I also love supporting small businesses, so win-win. I literally passed another Hawaiian restaurant to get here and I am glad that I did. It was worth the drive. The owner's wife also makes homemade guava cupcakes 2 for $5. So guess who got dessert!

To continue with the AAPI Month, we headed to Universal City and visited Big Aloha's Ali'i Cove for some Hawaiian food. We've been here a while back but had gotten food to go before. Today, we dined in.There were many Hawaiian Juices available and I chose the Mango Orange for Dad, hubby chose the Lilikoi Passion and I had the Pass-O-Guava Nectar. Definitely tropical! We tried the No Ka Oi Plate, which came with Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Pork, Teriyaki Beef, Chicken Katsu, Kalua Pig with mac salad and rice. We also ordered the Kalbi Shortribs to share. You need to look past the styrofoam containers and focus on the flavorful foods served. Meats were tender and all the food so filling! We couldn't finish it all and packed it to go. Kawika was so friendly to take our orders. They also had some Mango Jelly spreads and other flavors for sale. We bought the Mango Jelly to try.Check out @satx.aapi to download the passport and see the participating restaurants and businesses!

If you are in the mood for some amazing Hawaiian Food! Then look no more! This is definitely the spot to be! This place has good parking and the staff is amazing and friendly! Once we arrived, the staff had so much energy and was very helpful with the menu, and gave all their recommendations. We both ended up getting the H-3 Hawaiian Mix with 3 different meat! We wanted to try everything, and of course as I expected, they did not disappoint. They even had military/first responder discount! The ambiance had an amazing Hawaiian vibe, and the employees made it also feel like you were on the island itself! Definitely coming here again to experience the great food and staff!
