Wow! Such a unique spin on BBQ. When we were in town from LA, knew this had to be in our agenda while we were back in San Antonio. Love the sweet Filipino flavorings. The rib meat falls right off, & doesn't need any sauce. The chicken is the juiciest I've had from a BBQ joint, and I DREAM of that sauce. Then I like to balance it out with the sweet baked beans & refreshing macaroni salad. Delicious!!!

I saw this place on Insta and found out the owner is Filipino and lived in Hawaii just like me! So you know I had to show my support! I ordered the Hawaiian garlic shrimp and the bbq chicken. The hawaiian shrimp was so different from anything I had on the island, that's because he SMOKES!!! the shrimp first! The smoke gives it a whole new layer of flavor to the dish I grew up on. His BBQ chicken BANGS I can see why that's his signature dish. It was juicy, salty, and sweet. He let me sample a rib and WOW I missed out definitely ordering again next time!

The owner of this bbq place is named Will. He is a nice guy who is willing to let you taste whatever he's selling. Get you some pork ribs! They are fall off the bone tender and you will love them. The Hawaiian Mac salad is creamy and cool perfect for a hot day. The chicken on a stick is sweet and mildly spicy and worth the drive to find the place. Apparently he's only open on weekends but you know what it's worth the wait. This bbq is a welcome departure from the everyday Texas style bbq and was just what I was looking for. Definitely try the melon juice it's like our Aguas frescas and it's yummy! Thank you Will for this delicious meal and we will definitely be back.

BBQ Done Wright takes on a unique spin to traditional barbecue dishes. Will had invited my husband and I to stop by one of his first set ups when he started selling his BBQ in town. I was amazed, not only by the appearance and smell of food, but by his generosity. You can clearly tell the passion he has for this, just by the way he prepares the food, and how he describes and gets the ideas. The fact that he was inspired by his roots and culture. It is definitely a unique BBQ taste. I cannot wait to see where this journey takes him!

The best advertisement is the delicious smell of the barbecue coming from Southtown. Got the combo plate to try a little bit of everything, I'm so glad I did. Starting off with my favorite item which was the Filipino BBQ chicken, it was slightly spicy and had a tangy sauce. It came on a skewer which you could either eat off or take off and eat with a fork. The ribs were definitely fall off the bone and had a really good seasoning to them. You could tell the smoke very much settled into the meat and it had a little bit of a mild spicy pepper kick to it. For my side I got the smoked baked beans and the Hawaiian mac salad. The beans were very yummy and have little chunks of meat inside. The mac salad was very light and evened out the flavors of the meal. Since it was so hot I decided to get a melon juice. Someone else also compared it to aguas fresca but the distinction in this was thinly sliced cantaloupe that topped off the juice. They were like delicious fruit spaghetti and really glad that it wasn't overly syrupy or sugary. It just has a taste that I haven't seen anywhere else in San Antonio restaurants. The owners definitely make you feel like family and I'll come back for that & the food.

There's a new sheriff in town when it comes to BBQ. BBQ Done Wright lives up to the name and expectations. My friend Tom and I tried the bbq rib plate with baked beans and macaroni salad, chicken and rice and washed it down with the melon drink. Unlike traditional Texas bbq, what I loved most about this bbq is that the sauce came on the ribs which gave it a sweet/spicy taste. The same sauce could be tasted in the baked beans as well. The quality and quantity of the product exceeded our expectations. This a must try spot and I can assure you, you will be back not only for the bbq but the melon drink. It had a very refreshing summer time flavor. On my next visit I'll post pictures.

This is probably some of the best BBQ I have had. There is a Filipino twist to his BBQ which is fantastic! The Ribs and chicken are by far some of the best! He also has a Melon drink that is really good especially on a hot day. The sauce that is on the chicken is unique and will sizzle your taste buds. The ribs just fall right off the bone. I highly recommend you give it a try!

The food wasn't bad but wasn't good either. It had an odd aftertaste. I really like BBQ and shrimp but this stuff killed our appetite. We ate several mints afterward to get rid of the funky, chemical aftertaste. It was also overpriced for food that was unpleasant. We only ate half or less of the food.
