First off--don't go. This place is a total tourist trap. There's absolutely nothing else in the area, and you'll end up paying a $20 cover if you park. Depending on what time you go, expect to wait in a long line just to get to the elevator.Speaking of the elevator, that's honestly the best part of the whole experience. The drinks? As of February 20, 2025, happy hour cocktails were $8. I tried the mango mojito--it was just okay. Nothing special. The overall vibe of the place was average at best.If I had to rate it, I'd give it 2.5 stars--only because of the elevator.

This place is a place to view the sunset. It was nice to bring an out of town guest. Only issue is, getting down the tower can take 10 minutes of waiting for the elevator.Server was great! She made sure my mocktail wasn't too sweet. I've had the kimchi calamari before. It's crunchy, but its sauce is like a very sweet gochujang mayo with a sweet reduction drizzle below the fried rice noodles.

We were able to see the Tower of the Americas from the front porch of our AirBNB. We were very intrigued but at $18.50 a person for admission, PLUS parking, it was just too much for the six of us. Then I heard of a hack - there is a bar at the top of the tower - Bar 601. If you go for happy hour, admission to the tower becomes free - no, you don't get to the observation deck but the crazy ride up in the elevator and the view of the city from the floor to ceiling windows were definitely worth it. Happy hour at Bar 601 is pretty amazing - a full cocktail list for $8 each. (I had the delicious Monarch Margarita), a couple of beers for $5.75 and a large selection of varietals for $7 and $9. Also, there was a list of a dozen apps priced from $6 to $12. We were running late for dinner so we only had one drink. But, even in that short amount of time, we got to see San Antonio from 750 feet up (fun fact, the Tower of the Americas is over 100 feet taller than the space needle in Seattle. Everything is always bigger in Texas!)There is a large plaza outside of the tower where you can walk and enjoy fountains and waterfalls. It was a beautiful day so we took advantage and just listened to the sounds of the falling waters.Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4:30 to 7. There is a dress code and no children are allowed. If you're just visiting San Antonio, take time to do this. If you're a resident, this is one happy hour not to miss.

The views and the cocktails were worth the visit to this bar. I had an old fashioned and a whiskey sour which were both made impeccably by the kindest bar tender. Between the great service and the delicious drinks I will certainly be coming back.

At least the view was nice......Only way I can think of starting this review. We were excited to come for happy hour with our family and it was disappointing all around, except for the view. They don't take reservations but we called ahead as we had a group of 7. They said they'd set aside a table due to our large party. Upon arriving, we weren't greeted and then asked about the table we called for. We were told that wasn't a thing and had to find our own table. Mind you all tables were small circles and had 2-3 chairs. We asked where a larger party could fit and then told us we could move tables together, but only certain tables. Mind you they said we could move tables to accommodate our group but only if we moved them back. What service!!! Upon sitting down after moving three tables and chairs, we waited for service. Service was slow and left much to be desired. We asked for the happy hour menu at 4:25 but strictly were told we couldn't order anything on happy hour until 4:30 (which was in five minutes). We ordered and drinks were just ok and food was sub par. Super disappointing for the prices. We had to ask for them to clear our table three times so we could move back the tables ha. Like I said, come for the view but don't bother with anything else.

This place is a true hidden gem! Their happy hour deals for drinks and food are amazing, especially with the beautiful view from the top of the Tower of Americas! It does not cost anything additional to go up, you just have to pay for what you order! The service is overall good; they can get busy at times so sometimes you'll have to be patient. But everyone is extremely warm and welcoming! They also sometimes have live music towards the end of happy hour!! 11/10 recommend!!

Great place to visit for happy hour M-F (4:30-7pm) for discounted drinks or apps; or any other day of the week for a drink with a view. The bar sits just above the rotating restaurant: Chart House. The best part: you don't have to pay the $16.50 entrance fee for the observation deck and it offers virtually the same views! The bar only showcases about half of SA while the rotating restaurant and observation deck both give you a 360 view. The regular drink menu is extensive and you're sure to find something to quench your thirst. If you visit later in the day, I recommended heading to the seats to the right of the elevator because the sun doesn't set on that side (you won't get the sun in your face) It's also more secluded from the elevators and a little more quiet. FYI: We had to pay $15 for Tower of the Americas parking. You don't pay by the hour, it's just an "all day" rate (at least that's how it was on the weekend we were there)

Pros: Great happy hour specials and ambiance. The drinks are fantastic and they really have a great selection on the menus to choose from. Amazing Birds Eye view of downtown San Antonio. Cons: Limited seating. If you aren't there by the start of HH you're going to be waiting a while for a table. Seating is also first come first serve so I have seen disputes over tables/chairs as well. Not enough bartenders to get drinks and orders out in a timely manner. Also their sliders are super plain and dry- not worth trying again.

We went to bar 601 ahead of our dinner at Chart House, our server Erica was welcoming and charming, she shared recommendations and suggestions for drinks, food and things to do in the area and surrounding neighborhoods and cities. Definitely look for her when visiting Bar 601 atop the Tower of the Americas.
