Amazing service and even better coffee!!! Very good pricing as well as a great environment for studying or chatting with friends. Really wish they had better hours though. :( closed on mondays and they close at 3pm it's a real bummer- I hate having to go to other coffee shops on the square when babes is closed :(

I first discovered Babe's Doughnut & Coffee right after graduating from Texas State University, and it quickly became a favorite! Unfortunately, I only got to visit twice before moving back to Dallas, but every time I'm in San Marcos, I make it a point to stop by.This past graduation weekend, I had the chance to visit again and introduce my friends to this gem. I ordered my favorite, the Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit, while they tried the Cinnamon Donut. Admittedly, my friends weren't fans of the biscuit, saying the chicken was too thick and the biscuit a bit dry--but I love it for those exact reasons! As for the Cinnamon Donut? Absolute perfection, and I'm not even a big donut person. It was too good that we had to come back and get another one before our trip ride back to Dallas.I also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Kevin, who was so fun and kind. The service was friendly, and the vibe is super laidback. It's a small, cozy spot that feels welcoming every time.If I ever find myself in San Marcos again, you can bet I'll be stopping by for my go-to items. Highly recommend :-)

This is a Mom and Pop donut store.I had the old fashioned AND an apple fritter. Both were delicious. The fritter was made the way fritters are supposed to be made, unlike an unnamed competitor's store on Hopkins. I will be returning after a pleasant first visit.

These donuts are SO GOOD!Apple fritters, old fashioned, were my choice. The location is in the heart of downtown San Marcos, and very easy to find. They have the freshest of donuts when they open.

The best spot chicken biscuit/doughnut/coffee spot in San Marcos. Both the Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit are excellent and very reasonably priced. The vanilla sweetcream cold brew is also excellent. This is my go-to spot in San Marcos.

Our family visited Babes for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I have gone all over the country trying lots of different kinds of donuts--some yeasty, some heavy, some potato (shoutout to Holy Donut in Portland ME), some overly sweet, some bland, some greasy etc. But I have NEVER had a donut as pillowy and airy as the one at Babes. It wasnt too sweet or even greasy. I have no idea how they do it, but it was what every donut should be and more. I ate a fruity pebbles one expecting sweet and heavy, but I could have eaten a few more and not felt like I was weighed down. They dont have a lot of choices, but even a simple donut hole will amaze. We also had the breakfast sandwiches on biscuits and croissants and those were really good too at a very reasonable price for size and quality which is scarce these days. And the Americano was great (2 shots for only $3 and change). The only cons are the tables were sticky and there isnt great signage so we walked past it twice. You must make this your next breakfast stop!!

The barista/ clerk is rude and not friendly for being a coffee shop. The pastries/donuts are never ready at open time. Times of operation are inconvenient for working people. There is so much potential with this place... but if you like being spoken to rudely, have plenty of time to sit and wait; this is your place!

Although I did not try any of the food it smelled amazing and looked great. I had the drip coffee and they had the heavy cream I like to try and remain keto. Judging from the crowds they draw, it has to be good and a popular spot.

Danny T a new girl I'm assuming was very rude. The other boys that usually work the front are way nicer. Oh and we waited over 30 minutes for our order yet 3 other people got theirs before us.
