Ay Chiwawa Mexican Cafe

Traveling through the area and stopped for one night and decided some Mexican food sounded good. We were greeted promptly and chose to sit in the bar area. We ordered the pomegranate margarita. It was okay, but I'm a margarita snob. We ordered a small queso to share. It was very small 4 oz. So if you have more than two people, I'd get a bigger one. We both then ordered the Wawa Enchiladas. Great choice. Very flavorful. My only complaint is my charro beans were still a bit al dente, not quite done. When we were looking at the menu online an offer for free sopapillas popped up so I entered my email. So they were free and delicious. Total bill was $61 before tip. Place was busy but not too crazy. Clean. Give them a try.

I avoid dine in because the service or the food is bad and my most recent experience proves me right. Ordered a virgin drink and it looked nothing like the alcoholic version and I was charged the same price. My youngest child wanted something from the kids menu and didn't get what he ordered. His taco toppings were supposed to be on the side and it was to have beans and rice. He got a taco with a big spoon size of shredded chicken just dumped into a tortilla. Had to wait for 20 minutes after our server had made multiple trips to our table in order just to place and order. Then our food was served, but no silverware to use to eat with. I waited 10 minutes before I asked for a fork. This is a perfect example why I only do drive thru and buy only tacos. Crap service ruins the experience every time.

Came in for margaritas and chips and salsa. The host / greeter was an older gentleman and did a FANTASTIC job!! Lots of personality and enthusiasm - very contagious! He likes his job and it shows!Margaritas (the wawarita) was great - good mix of tartness without being overbearing. We found it odd that they close at 3:00pm on a Sunday afternoon though. Open for dinner every other day.

The restaurant itself is great! Nice and clean, plenty of room, friendly staff. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food was delicious! The mole is fantastic and the micheladas I hope I spelled that right, are perfect. I know I'll be coming back.

Location/Parking:It located in Bulverde near Walmart. There is parking around the restaurant. Price:The prices are good. You can get a taco for around $4 each. Most entrees at around $10 and a fajita plate for $16-22. A kid's meal is $4-$5.Ambiance/Seating:It is a nice restaurant with clean bathrooms. There is a bar seating, private seating and drive thru. Food/Drinks:There is a bar area and serves margaritas and mojitos and a beer. The food was okay. We received free chips and salsa. The chips were fresh tasting homemade chips. The salsa was tasty with a kick to it. The refried beans could be more flavorful. Service:Service was wonderful! Our waiter checked on our drinks often and refilled as needed. Overall, the food was okay. This is a great place to take a client for a meal or host a meal with a large group.

I was having a dinner party for 8 and decided on Ay Chiwawa. So I ordered fajitas. Well let me tell you what I got for eight people was enough for 16 people. There was 10 times more rice and beans than was needed as well as the condiments like guacamole, tortillas, sour cream, salsa etc. Of course the fajitas, beef and chicken, were delicious. So just saying, if you order like I did, be sure you are ready for the extra amounts of every thing, including the fajitas. Oh yes, the manager carried everything out to my car. I think they will even deliver.

Don't bother Food is reheated Not freshMake the drive to stoneoak instead. Drive thru is a rip off as well. Service completelt sucks!

Best iced tea and breakfast tacos I've ever had!!! Tortillas are so soft and fresh. I ordered the guisada taco and it was so flavorful!!! The potato and egg was very good as well! I usually don't do reviews but after eating here I had to let everyone know how great the food tastes! The chips and salsa are very good too! I've tried many restaurants in San Antonio and this is now my #1 favorite spot!

We call in our order , very nice over the phone. We get our 4 tacos of bean and cheese and then two of those tacos were Barbacoa tacos with onions and cilantro. Total ended up being 15$. They very much scammed us on the onions and cilantro. That cost me an extra .50 per taco.

Every thing on the menu that we ordered was delicious. The service was great! This was our second visit also!
