Asado

I've been here before. Had the wings. Didn't like. Today I had the grilled fish tacos side of asparagus. These would stand up to a tiki hut on the Baja peninsula in fresh flavor. More beer on tap would be great. Twas minimal.

I came to the lounge side of Asado and sat at the bar. Kevin, the bartender was friendly and on top of things. Even the woman running food was hauling out large plates, impressively. Not what I was expecting at the Doubletree. Their portions were large, and people seemed to enjoy them. I ruined myself on the giant cookie at check in, and just settled for a glass of wine. The lounge was comfortable, they had football on, but at a respectable volume. It was a good place to hang out and grab a bite and a drink.

I'd consider this a hidden gem, inside the doubletree. Ambiance is great, it was loud when busy but quiet when nobody was in!The service was great, the female bartender took care of us! She was friendly even-though she was busy!What did we order:- house red wine-MODELO- NY Strip with potatoes 8/10 very good for a Hilton steak- FISH Sandwhich with a salad (10/10) would order it with lettuce and tomato!!! Overall: if you got a night at the double tree, go to the bar and order yourself a drink and something great to eat!Prices are reasonable

I ordered a caprese, ,steak, a child quesadilla and key lime pie. Unfortunately I came in a busy week apparently, as they crossed it a lot of their menu options. Caprese was okay, no basil came with it, or bread. Quesadilla was okay, a lot of yellow cheese(a little over kill) . But the service was good, the servers are very nice, and the ambiance is quite peaceful. But I wouldn't come back here for food. Maybe for happy hour at the bar.

Gross. Came here for a quick breakfast before a work event. I guess I shouldn't expect much from a hotel restaurant but I didn't think it would be bad. Bad service with a waitress that would get mad if you request things. I got eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. My eggs were overcooked and not even poached. The sauce was runny and the hasbrowns were oily. Just not good. I should have went with my coworkers options of yogurt + fruit which seemed safer I'm surprised I didn't get sick . Yeah never again.

Bottom line...skip this place! Run away!The service was absolutely horrendous! I ordered Pozole and a California Club Salad. That's all. No drinks. No one else with me. Not many people eating meals around me, just a few people drinking. It took over 20 minutes for my Pozole (Soup) to arrive and another 20 minutes after that for my salad! Are you kidding me!?!? Soup and a salad? ....40+ minutes?!The Pozole was just 'OK'...nothing special. It really had no flavor at all and VERY greasy, although the few chunks of pork were nice.Now, the salad....The "California Club"...Whoo Hoo! Sounds great, right? Yeah, not so much! When it arrived, some 45 minutes later after I ordered it, I just asked for it to go. It was small, very small. They spread it out in a big plastic container to make it look good. It didn't even have the avocado on it! Oh, and NO bacon! The "grilled chicken" was minimal. just a couple of pieces. Very little Goat cheese and almost no walnuts. When I got to my room and looked at it, I was so tempted to go back down and get a refund, but I was tired. At the table, I was so tempted to just leave it and walk away, but I was hungry. And get this, on my way back to my room, I ran into a friend of mine who was on his way down to get a salad too. I told him I got the California Club. I ran into him the next morning and he had waited so long to get his salad that he just left before it ever arrived. Just walked away....never saw his waiter (Quynci) either. Yes, the service (Waiter was Quynci) is pathetic! ...And the food.So, bottom line...skip this place.

Slammed and understaffed. Story of America right now. Service was great. The two girls working were classy and attentive. The drinks were generous pours. The kitchen seemed to be a mess and confusion ruled the day. Knowing this, I ordered simple and just got some wings. They were highly undesirable in the long run. Breaded wings should be crispy, not soggy and rubbery. Like I said... the girls running the joint were the saving grace. I'm thankful for them. Keep up the good work ladies... I can't hold you accountable for the chaos in the kitchen.

I love this hidden little gem in the heart of San Antonio. California club is definitely the way to go.... But everything on the menu is super yummy:-).Very affordable and the services also very adequate.

I didn't come here with high expectations being that the restaurant is inside a hotel, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised with my experience here!The decor makes it look like a higher end restaurant which threw me off since its in the hotel. It was very nice though, everything is new and modern.The menu wasn't too big, but I liked the choices that I saw. I will say that the entrees were all kind of pricey and since I'm currently on a budget, I settled for the Alamo burger because it was only $13. I ordered and the burger came out pretty fast which was awesome because I was starving. It was way bigger than I expected it to be. Totally worth the $13. The bacon was so crispy and there was even avocado on it... I wasn't expecting the avocado, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be on there, but I'm not complaining haha! I don't know what kind of bread the bun was, but it was different and really good! Really great meal.Great service too! Gregory was my server and he was very friendly and made sure my glass of water was never empty!Really convenient spot for me because I'm staying at the hotel and I didn't feel like walking or catching an uber anywhere. I will definitely eat here again when I'm staying at the hotel!

A Wednesday night and nobody can answer the phone or seat me when I come downstairs (since they won't answer the phone)? The labor shortage excuse is tired by now and has allowed businesses to completely abandon basic customer service. Gotta do better. Edit to add: I tried calling again the next night. Same thing.
