Conchas here are a 10/10! They are light and not super sugary. We got a batch that had just come from the oven and were incredible. We went around lunch time so I like that they bake throughout the day. We also got a torta and chilaquiles for lunch - wow they were so good and unexpected from this bakery. The chilaquiles rojos are spicy, even though they don't think so The cashier was very friendly and helpful with recommendations and overall accommodating when we kept adding to our order. Only a few seats inside but by mid day they're not so busy with people dining in.

This place is a love letter to carbs, and we need to celebrate this. My wife said she had heard about this mythical magical place from beyond Ft Sam that served heavenly conchas and had coffee drinks - that's all I needed to know. Off we went after a lovely day-date to find the legendary Alebrije. We were greeted upon entry and the peppy person behind the counter answered our questions with enthusiasm and an obvious deep knowledge about the kinds of foods and drinks that would make us want to come back for more. Mission definitely accomplished. I had a simple espresso drink but the bite of sweet bread that I sampled was absolutely phenomenal. The sweetbread served dutifully alongside its caffeinated counterpart - that what I wanted to write but it sounded like a really pompous way to say that coffee and sweat bread are fiiiiiire together. Wow. Anyway, this place is great. And the exposed brick inside (from the early 1900s buildings) is charming and mesmerizing. We'll definitely be back.

The literal namesake of this bakery, Alebrije, means colorful, bright, and often super detailed Mexican folk art of mythical creatures like animals, people, or other objects. Their logo of having a flying armadillo-like creature that is colorful and vibrant goes beyond art itself - it represents a very unique and delicious local bakery that is knocking it out of the park with their flavors and beautiful colorful designs. They have given a major modern upgrade in their version of making traditional pan dulce treats that we all know and love. I wish we hadn't been so eager to get back on IH 35 to come back home (Austin) because I can definitely see myself hanging out reading a book and/or have breakfast here. I saw they offer more brunch-like items like tortas and chilaquiles as well. We came in on the weekend of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and their altar was gorgeous!!! First time here I knew we needed to get a light blue marranito (pigs) of course as a starter, a handful of Mexican wedding cookies, and of course their conchas. They had white conchas with sprinkles on top that was the softest and most delicate concha I have EVER had in my life. All of their goods are fresh and so pillow-like when you eat them. On my first bite I yelled WOW! I can definitely see why they are consistently earning awards - this is seriously a unique bakery and San Antonio is lucky to have such a standout like the bakers and cooks are doing at Alebrije. They are mythical creatures themselves with such a creative and beautiful mind to come up with not only such delicate but delicious pan dulce. Hats off to the entire staff and bakers. Like an alebrije does, I appreciate you guiding me to finding exactly what and how true pan dulce should taste. You're beautiful and the vibes here are very welcoming. Keep WOWing us!

Alebrije is such a gem of a place. I remember when they sold pastries out of other coffee shops and they were just as delicious as they are today. The indoors is quaint with a few tables and a high top counter if you're on the go and can't wait to dig into the deliciousness that is their pastries. They recently added chilaquiles and tortas, but I haven't tried them. Their sweets are delicious and made fresh daily. My son got an apple cinnamon cream donut and what I appreciated is that it was light and not greasy. The flavors are innovative and match the season. Great location! Tricky parking, but you can always try the side street parking on Grayson rather than the little parking lot next to it.

Award winning conchas and my partner in crime and I can see why! They're delicious, light, and soft. The pink cake is moist and the strawberry pop tarts are flaky and filled with strawberry goodness. I really appreciate the time and care put into this baked goods as it makes the cost worth it. Employees give friendly service and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Love this quaint bakery!

Charming Spot with Delicious TreatsThis place is small, so if you're someone who gets anxious in tight spaces, it might feel a bit cramped, but it's really cute and cozy overall. ((Parking can be hit or miss with the other coffee shop and gym next door.)) We opted to sit outside, which was perfect. The pastries were absolutely delicious, and as newcomers, we were so impressed. The chorizo torta was amazing--packed with flavor--and the conchitas were a perfect balance, not too sweet, just right.

Was exited to be on that side of town to visit this place that had been on my to-visit list. Cute place, small and homie. Service was nice. But the selection of goods was small (only 6 item on display case). I truly was expecting to walk into a bakery/panderea with cases full of goods. They do have breakfast items but they were not appealing. I walked out with 4 pieces of pan for a total of $18.00. The sad part was all the items were bland and tasteless. Very disappointing.

This panadería is located less than a mile from our home. At first, we would go often because of proximity and because we love supporting local...plus, who doesn't love pan dulce with cafecito during the weekend? It is true... they do not have much of a variety but what they offer is good. I just have a hard time paying so much for pan dulce. I'm not going to lie, it's very good, but not the best I've ever had. We attended the Coffee Festival this year and splurged for the VIP experience. Food vendors were giving food samples during the first hour for VIPs..except Alebrije (even though they had sample size concha's and other pastries). Service had always been good and the ambiance is inviting. After living in San Antonio for over 30 years, I have found several panaderías that are just as good or better for a fraction of the price and with more variety.

At first glance outside you might wonder if you are at the right place. Walk in to the most friendly, cozy panderia you've ever been! Love this family business attitude! Right away they ask if you've ever been there before and then walk you thru what they have for the day. Let me tell you.....hard choices and you just might walk out of there with one of everything! We ended up with a bag full of goodies. Very reasonably priced I might add!The concha's were so fresh and moist; not dry at all. Very fresh taste!I'm not a big fan of tres leche but wow! Definitely a fan of theirs! Moist; not too sweet but sweet enough. Very fresh! We walked in not long after they opened to an empty business; then turned around after they finished telling us about everything and there was a line out the door!If you are looking for a great panderia and wonderful service; this is the place to go!
