Al Carbon Culebra

Another one of my favorite spots when I am visiting San Antonio. Great customer service and amazing food! I always pack extra plates to bring back home to Boston!

I've seen it from the freeway and I've always wanted to pop in and try it. The parking is limited. The inside is a nice size space, good for a large group or two. I placed an order for a whole chicken. It came with a pint of rice, corn tortillas, onions, jalapeno and two salsas. I added a pint of charro beans. It came out to $24 and change. If you pay cash it's a tad cheaper. My order was ready in 5 minutes and I was out the door. The ladies were friendly and professional. The chicken was DELICIOUS and a good sized chicken. The rice, corn tortillas and beans were also good, I think you get about ten tortillas. Next time I'm ordering a bigger size of the beans and maybe a dessert too. They had bottled sodas as well. Next time I'll snap the menu.

Inside have plenty of tables to serve large crowds. Chickens are well seasoned and tasty!WARNING-Parking is not big but you can park by the closed gas station next it, if need be.

Wow! I finally had a chance to eat at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I ordered the 1/2 chicken meal which comes with rice, a grilled jajalapeno and corn tortillas. Charro beans can be ordered as a side and you MUST order the beans. The beans are so full of flavor (I think they are cooked with chicharonnes). I could just have eaten the beans and been happy. My mom ordered the short ribs and finished her plate...she never finishes her plate. I also need to give Honorable mention to the creamy guacamole salsa they serve because it is sotasty and not too hot. Believe me, that grilled jalapeno adds eenough heat that the salsa is perfect. Unfortunately, we started eating and I forgot to take photos....sorry. Also, be sure to order an aguas fresca because those are good too.

Have not eaten here as a sit down but we love ordering to go at this specific "pollos asados" location. It's a great sign to see no parking avail and walking inside to most tables taken up during dinner hours. Price is great. You get lots big portions for a reasonable price. Love the chicken (whole) and beef fajitas.AMAZING charro beans + rice. We always order extra. Make sure to ask for extra salsas because those taste great. Plenty of seating and great music in the background with nice decor.

Have been coming to this location for many years. I love their food,their rice and beans are always consistent. Chicken has lot of flavor and price is not bad. They recently changed their indoor lights which makes the place EXTREMELY bright. The amount of light inside the restaurant is excessive and it almost hurts to look at someone at an eye level. Their lighting was just fine in the past. Sometimes their music is too loud where you can't have a conversation . Please don't try to fix something that's not broken.

I had the pleasure of trying out this hidden gem during my lunch break after passing by it for the past 3 years while working in the area. I was on the hunt for a healthy option and was thrilled to see that they had grilled chicken on the menu.But what really blew me away was the Parrillada for two that my friend and I decided to share. The juicy chicken and flavorful spices in the fajitas were simply outstanding, and the rice and beans were the perfect complement to the dish.Despite the high quality of the food, the pricing was reasonable, making it an ideal spot for lunch. However, I do have to agree that the service could have been better. Nonetheless, the amazing food more than made up for any shortcomings in the service.All in all, I highly recommend checking out this spot, especially if you're on the hunt for delicious and healthy Mexican cuisine. Don't forget to try the Parrillada for two - it's definitely worth it!

This chicken is the bomb.com The parking sucks a little bit but once you are able to make your way inside you should have no problems. I ordered a whole chicken that comes with a side of rice, tortillas and beans for 20 bucks!!! You really can't beat that price for some good chicken!

Went on a Wednesday night, service was fast and great. Food was so good with rice, and a side of onion with tortillas. Will definitely go back.

The food is the best Al carbon I have ever had anywhere ever and the service was spectacular! I never would have gone here on my own without the recommendation and now every time I go to San Antonio I make it a point to go to this location. The ambience is perfect! I have been told this is the best location to go to of all of them and I don't doubt it. The flavors of the chicken, the charro beans, and the rice is amazing! I can't put my finger on what exact spices they use for each, but it is perfect and better than anything I have ever had!
