I've tried a little bit of everything over the years and I can say my favorite thing to order is their barbacoa. The barbacoa has good flavor and is some of the best in town. They also have some really good tortillas. The only thing I don't like is their tamales. The tamales have gotten smaller and flatter over the years. They Don't put much meat in their tamales and they fall apart very easily. Usually the service is pretty good but there's one lady that seems to be in charge that is very rude. She's not only rude to customers but other employees as well.

I went to this place for the recommended porktamales and it mediocre at best. The pork tamales were dry and not at all what I was told. Maybe that had a bad batch that particular day but definitely had better elsewhere. The service was ok staff is very friendly no doubt. We can sites in line for about almost 20-30 minutes as many people were there for these famous tamales. Even the person who recommended me over there tried from my batch and said they were not the same taste as before. Maybe I'll try them again in the future to give them then benefit of the doubt.

I love their barbacoa! You can get all of your barbacoa needs here. They serve by the pound but also serve just tacos. Not only do they have barbacoa, but also carnitas, tripas, chicarron, menudo and tamales. They also have tortillas, tortillas chips, and bunuelos. They have serving San Antonio since 1938, so they must be doing something right. Give this place a visit!

This place is always packed so I figured it must be good but I'm sad to say it was a little disappointing. The line moves pretty fast which I appreciate..They do a special with a pound of barbacoa, salsa and tortilla for $9 bucks so we opted for that. The barbacoa isn't too greasy which I liked. We also tried the tacos which were just alright. They also have fresh chips to buy and bunelos We'll probably come back to try the tamales but if that's a miss we probably won't be back.

You get a dozen pork tamales wrapped up in foil that have been there for a day or two and they're hard as a rock when you get home this will be the third time or in a row that happens I'll never go there again. The Barbacoa it's okay but it costs about $18 a pound!!

I just now enjoyed the pork tamales that were bought to our potluck Christmas gathering , and they were superb. The pork was moist and tender with a strong flavor, and the masa to filling ratio was perfect. I also like that they had irregular shapes, not all the same exact cylindrical/tube shape and lengths. Seemed authentic and reminded me of my beautiful Grandmother Orta's (Rest in Peace). I like Tellez and Delia's as well but right now I'm putting these on top, in that order...Happy Holidays and may you also get some of these delicacies to unwrap with your loved ones.

Ordered 4 dozen tamales first thing in the morning when they opened. They were placed in ziplock bags and then in a plastic bad. Arrived to the hospital for staff appreciation breakfast and the tamales were awful and had a horrible sour smell. Needless to say we had to discard the tamales. I contacted the manager and they did offer to replace the tamales but I was not able to make it back. Honestly I would have just preferred my money back but I told the young lady that a receipt was not necessary. This has never happened before. Lesson learned. Will not be back.
