A-Tan Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar

We love A-Tan! The husband and I have been going to A-Tan for the past 4 or 5 years now and we think it's the best place in New Braunfels for sushi! The wait staff is always kind and efficient! The location is clean and we LOVE the specials board behind the sushi bar.There are SO MANY rolls, so it's easy to say that there is something for everyone! The cooked food is also delicious. I have enjoyed everything I have tried and it's been a lot!

Another amazing meal for the wife and I at A-Tan. The food is the highest quality and we are never disappointed. In our opinion, they have the best tempura on the greater San Antonio area and we have them right here in New Braunfels. Shoot, it was so good it didn't even make the pics...heheheAnd we tried the happy couple appetizer which had shrimp good and spicy with a little kick, salmon that was absolutely delightful and scallops to die for. And we shared the most amazing seaweed salad with thinly sliced cucumbers.....so yummyThen we had our sushi rolls and they truely were magnificent. Our service was quick and wonderful, Jorge was our server and he was cordial, always smiling and a complete pleasure. As for ambiance, A-Tan is the best, quiet atmosphere, misty cause the food is so good no one is talking..lol.. but it caters to casual, my wife and I are in shorts and tshirts to the formal. There were 2 different groups of prom goers that were eating their dinner for the Spring formal here at A-Tan. And if U wanted they even had the Celtics and Heat NBA Playoff games going in the backgroundAll and all this is always a special and memorable evening at A-Tan

Still the great sushi and service as I rememberTotally enjoyed the warm garlic edamame as an appetizer today, chargrilled and savory!! Plenty of parking although not certain this center has an eCharging station. Convenient but limited market next door to pick up Asian necessities

What a FIND this place was! We got there kind of late- about 8:15- so we were on a bit of a race against time to get our order wrapped before they closed.We got a combination of sashimi, nigiri, rolls and chicken katsu and everything we ordered was fantastic! The yellowtail and salmon were super fresh and the portions were plentiful. Their beer, wine and sake offerings were impressive. We got both beer and sake.This is one of those places that is going to be a must-do every time we're in town from now on. Just a great surprise!

One of the best sushi spots in town! You can tell if you go during peak hours. Even if it's not peak hours, there is always someone else there eating. My husband and I love the large menu of sushi rolls (and non sushi, however we've never ordered off that menu). everything is always fresh and made to order and the wait staff is always friendly. You can't go wrong with dining in or getting to-go food.

The hubs and I really like A-Tan. It's just a few miles away from our house. That's always nice. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The service is good and the food is very good.

We were a group of 5 that walked in Tuesday evening & seated right away.The server was so great, she was very friendly and got our drink orders right away.We ordered some appetizers (not pictured) and they were great. A few of us got miso soup, sweet and sour soup and another dish I can't quite remember the name of.The sushi was perfect portions and delicious! Everything tasted fresh. 10/10 recommend!!

Great spicy garlic edamame. Service was very quick. Food is good, the people are nice. We enjoyed it.

I'll preface by saying I understand phone connection issues, but the reasons of the one star review goes way beyond that.I tried calling to place an order over the phone and a woman answered laughing hysterically, likely from another conversation. I asked to order an order for pick up, she said "OK go ahead", I said that I had a question about the menu, which she responded with "OK do you wanna call me back when you're ready to order?" I said no I'm trying to ask you about your menu. I was trying to understand the difference in their servings of Nigiri and sashimi. She told me what Nigiri was. I tried to ask her what sashimi was, she said she was having difficulty hearing me so I repeated my question, and she hung up on me. Understandable, sort of. I called them back, again asking if I could place an order for pick up, the same woman asked me, knowing who I was, if I wanted to do the Nigiri. Same question, I tried to find out what the sashimi order came with, she told me that it was six pieces of fish, which I told her, "Oh no, that's way too many", and she said "OK thank you anyways", and hung up on me. So I called back a third time, same woman answered and I said "please do not hang up on me this time. I am trying to place an order for pick up. I will like to do the Nigiri and I would like to... " She interrupted me and told me that she was going to get someone else to help me. I will say the young man that answered the phone helped me and was great. When I picked the food up, I walked in to the restaurant where I stood by the "please wait to be seated" sign, and watched at least 3 employees walk by. Then, I can only assume the same woman who answered the phone walked up and I told her I was there to pick up an order - and when she couldn't make sense of the order, had to hand it off to someone else, again.Final straw - I have NEVER ordered sushi from any other restaurant that puts all the rolls in one container like this one. This order was multiple rolls for multiple people.Can't speak to dine in service, but beware of horrible phone/to-go service.

Went with a friend and took our 1 year olds. They only had one highchair so they put us on a wait. Not a big deal. We waited 5 minutes and the lady comes up with a menu and goes "you want to do takeout? You won't have to wait?" Kind of weird but we continued to wait. Then my son (who is 1) started making noise, and she goes "SHHHH" You can clearly tell they don't want kids there. I've always gone there and gotten that vibe, but like to give benefit of the doubt, but clearly they don't want business.
