Saltwater

We came back on a Wednesday night to Saltwater. This time we had Alec, a professional in the restaurant industry, as our server. What a difference in the dining experience, he was excellent. In terms of food, we had grilled octopus for appetizer. It tasted fresh and tender. It was perfectly cooked. I ordered the Chilean sea bass for my entree, which came in a delicate and well-balanced broth with mushrooms and bok choy. The fish had a nice sear on each side and tender in the middle. It was a lovely dish. My husband had the filet and asparagus, it was delicious too. Overall the full dining experience was excellent.

We got to here at the start of their happy hour. Prices were very reasonable.We had the Lobster Bisque and it was DELICIOUS.Our waiter was very nice and very attentive. The service was prompt.

My boyfriend and I had an impromptu staycation downtown. We decided what better way to start off the evening than with this killer deal, "Half a dozen oysters and a bottle of champagne for $25." The oysters were small, fresh, and so flavorful. We should've opted to pay $9 more to get 6 more. The champagne was bright and refreshing. The busser was on his game, I'd take a sip and he was back in moments to make sure my glass was filled. The waiter was respectful but to be honest we kind of got the vibe that as he was literally saying, "take all the time and relax" he really wanted us to hurry up and leave so real paying customers could come. Maybe we're wrong. He did say all the right things, just the vibe we got. I'm not mad about it. Overall, I'd come back and enjoy this deal again. It was also a 10/10 spot to people watch as the padres fans were pooling out from the game, belligerent and joyous. 7/10

Very enjoyable evening. We went in for the happy hour special before a padres game. Half off cocktails and oysters are only 1.50 ea. everything was delicious, bar tender was very attentive. We enjoyed drinks, oysters, calamari, and lobster Mac. If you are a fan of lobster bisque, you won't be disappointed with this lobster Mac yum! Only complaint is the place smelled very strongly of ammonia- I'm guessing they just finished spray cleaning before we came in.

The food is fresh, from oysters to fish tacos to veggie sides. Everything was well prepared and beautifully presented. The dish I was looking forward to was the octopus, and it was sadly disappointing. The texture was much chewier than it should've been, and it lacked flavor. Everything else was good. Food came out quickly, but water was only refilled when hailed. The free dessert with yelp check in is the limoncello cakes which was nice... Not too heavy but not too light. I would recommend for happy hour in the area.

Happy Hour Oysters? Heck yeah! With our reservation on the early side, we made it just in time for half-priced Kumamotos and Blue Points before getting down to business, er, dinner. :P For appetizers, the Clams and Mussels (garlic, roasted tomato, andouille sausage, seafood broth, toasted bread) was so filling it practically constituted a meal in itself, while the Tuna Tostada provided a lighter alternative. We followed with the Chilean Seabass Filet (miso broth, mushrooms, lobster dumpling, bok choy, ponzu), whose flavors suffered a bit from odd plating, and the New York Strip which tasted great but was slightly overcooked (requested medium rare but got medium). Desserts were fine but not especially inspiring - I preferred the airy Limoncello Cake over the denser Chocolate Cake, but probably wouldn't order either again.Overall a solid seafood and steak joint but the happy hour bumps it up a notch. I'll definitely be back for more oysters!
