This little Japanese bakery is tucked away in an industrial area and hidden away in the complex that houses Rotisserie Affair catering. They feature Japanese pastries which are very smooth and unique texture.I got the Japanini, Bacon, tomato, basil pesto, Monterey Jack cheese and shiso. I liked the crusty jack cheese on the outside, it added a nice crunchy texture as well as a nice saltiness to it. The bacon was surprisingly crispy and the pastry as a whole was very tasty. I really enjoyed this one.I also got the spicy curry salt and butter roll. The bread was good, slightly sweet, dense in a good way and very tasty. The curry had a good flavor, it was not overpowering. Another good one if you like curry, you won't be disappointed. The people working behind the counter were very patient, and explained everything, very friendly service. They have their own parking lot, its best to just look for the large sign for Rotisserie Affair catering, then after you park look for the smaller sign of Salt & Butter.Great Japanese pastries, you won't be disappointed.

I got a little butter and garlic salt with my roll from this bakery, not to mention a rolled stuffed with dark chocolate too. Both rolls were prebaked, so I had to baked the rest of the way at home. Both were very good. I baked them to a deep golden brown so they were piping hot when I ate them. The garlic salt and butter roll had just the right amount of garlic salt to make it some good eating. The roll was super soft and tasty. The dark chocolate in the second roll was completely melted. The chocolate was very tasty. A little sprinkle of salt on top of this roll would of paired well with the dark chocolate.I look forward to this place getting a larger place with inside and outside seating. Just more room in general. The staff members who work here were very nice.

I was very enticed to try these salt and butter rolls I've seen online and thanks to a Yelp event, I was introduced to Salt & Butter Bakery. There are signs outside the building that indicate the bakery is location which is helpful as they are sharing the space. Spicy Curry Salt & Butter Roll (5/5): Filling to bread ratio is perfect! The filling is actually spicy. The the bread is fluffy and too perfectly cute and shaped to eat! I wish I could eat this warmed a little more but could not wait.Cookie Salt & Butter Roll (5/5): They bake the cookie on top and it becomes this sort cookie crust on top of the roll. I wanted to try the cute character buns, however, they were not ready after opening time due to temperature changes affecting the dough. I'm super glad I got to try these rolls and I am certain I would be back to try other items!

I love trying out new bakeries, and just getting good food in general. One weekend, my partner and I decided to check out Salt & Butter, and I'm so glad we did. It was a weekend, and their pop-up was in the brewery. When we found the pop-up, the enthusiastic gentlemen informed us about the selected of bakery goods, and he also said they were about to receive a fresh batch of goods from the bakery (the bakery delivers batches of goods to the pop-up).So we waited for the fresh batch to arrive, and then selected some items. Let me tell you, the freshly baked, warm Salt & Butter roll was amazing!!! I loved it so much!! And a warm roll is many times better than a room temperature roll! I've eaten the rolls warm and I've eaten the rolls cold, and they're both delicious, but obviously a warm roll is so much more enjoyable.Another favorite is the french toast. Whenever I eat the french toast, I tell myself that I just want one bite or I just want to eat half and save the rest for later. And then I end up taking more bites than I planned! My partner also loves the sweet buns -- the ones filled with cream or chocolate, for example, but I'm not as big of a fan of those. My partner and I are now regular patrons of Salt & Butter, so we are eagerly awaiting the re-opening in 2024. Would love to try some of the other pastries that I have not tried yet.

Besides the disarray of the address being wrong and hours on their web site to where they would be. So frustrating driving around wasting time to track them down. With the times and location listed wrong on weekends, to me a small detail I feel should be so critically important. Also, they didn't have much of a selection and nothing stood out for me. Maybe make more product on a day they expected to be busy? I don't know if that is common sense or they are new to the game of owning a business. Maybe will give them another try in the future to see if they have anything worthy of my palate.

Missed the Yelp Event sign up but no problem. I still want to check out the business. Salty and butter in bread - great concept! I am more of a salt person. Haha.Preordered and picked up at 1:30PM on a Tuesday. Bread order was ready when I arrived. The Spicy Hakata (Ramen) Frozen Meal Kit by Shin-Sen-Gumi was packed up after I arrived so that it was not thraw. I can see that the people in the store put some thoughts in getting preorders ready. Frozen ramen should stay frozen until pickup time not sitting on a counter. Five stars! The whole loaf of mountain bread was good eaten at room temperature or warmed up. One can pull the bread apart in layers. Delicious! Light, moist, and fluffy! The right amount of salt and butter. A repurchase item.Warmed up the sandwiches in the oven after I got home. I had a bite of Tonkatsu Pork Panini. The bread was yummy but the sauce is over powering; however, the person ordered liked it. The Spicy Hakata (Ramen) Frozen Meal Kit by Shin-Sen-Gumi is a five stars too! Tasty and spicy broth with good texture noodle. Definitely a repurchase item!I received good service and quality bread. Will return to try other items since I found out how close it is to work.

TL;DR: buttery rolls with a delicious sugary bottom - can't really go wrong We got the spicy curry and the chocolate S&B rolls - both are so good! The spicy curry is surprisingly spicy although not too much by any means. The dark chocolate was delicious and definitely on the sweeter sideHighlight: especially enjoyed the hard sugar(?) crust on the bottom of each!It gets busy at lunch hour and orders take awhile to fulfill so plan accordingly Glad we stopped by for the snack - cheers, S&B bakery!

Difficult to find. Look for Rotisserie Affair Catering and Deli. It's located inside. You'll see signs on the grass.I was greeted by a very nice man. He told me about their most popular flavors. I ended up getting:-original salt & butter - buttery, soft, sweet and salty of both worlds-red bean - this was straight out of the oven. My favorite. -curry - Not to my liking. Should have gotten spicy curry for more spice.-cookie - Has that cookie buttery taste. The top shell is hard because it's cookie dough and soft inside. So yummy!-pork panini - it's a thick salty sauce on top of the pork belly meat. Not a fan.You can't go wrong with any of them. They all have the signature taste of the salt and buttery outer breading. Japanese bread is so soft and airy. No flakes. Shaped like a croissant. My top two were red bean and cookie. It's addicting and taste wonders when it's fresh out of the oven. The flavors can be sold out quickly during the day. Come early or place a large order for pick up.

Im a sucker for any carb so you say bakery and I'm there!Let me break it down for you:Salt and butter roll: classic. Airy. Not too sweet not too savory. The bottom where it's crispy is really the hero here. You'll want this to be the dinner roll for all your future dinners.Spicy curry roll: yo forgive my ignorance but Japanese curry is officially where it's at! Probably my favorite item of the bunch. You could super taste all the spices. Keep in mind I think this would be best warm.French Toast: this was an adventure. Not my favorite but surely something you should try. It has this feeling of being both a bread roll but also cornbread. It wasn't insanely sweet but I could totally see myself having this to take off the sweet tooth edge.Red bean: recommend this warm! The paste was great. Both perfectly red bean-y but sweet. Think the OG dinner roll but with a punch of sweetness.Kobokuma: first of all this is adorable looking. Be the cool uncle or aunt and bring this to your fam. This one was best warm as well. Super sweet but not in an American overpowering way. The vanilla was very strong and the outer shell cut through it perfectly.Hot dog panini: this is what I wish every American hot dog tasted like! This wasn't greasy, it was slightly sweet, just the right amount of savory. Wish I had asked to warm this one up. All in all if American games had these at events I'd really attend more honestly. This place is a tad hard to find. It's entrance is on Carroll Rd.The price was really great. For two people sharing like 6 items it was 30 bucks so given that and the quality will definitely be returning.Spoke to the owner for a bit so this place is the first in San Diego. It's in partnership with Okayama Kobo which is a big chain in Japan. They apparently branches over to the states in Irvine but this is their first SD spot. This isn't the place you sit down and eat. Think a better version of "guys imma go get some donuts." You run in and grab some goodies then bring 'em home. What makes the above mentioned process easier is they have ordering ahead! Will do that next time. They also cater and I could totally see myself being the one in the office to be like "guys let's have a COOL food this time" and becoming the resident rockstar. There is a parking lot all around the building so parking wasn't difficult.

This was my first Yelp Elite Event and so glad I was able to make it. You can just smell the yummy rolls walking in. One of the owners Stuart welcomed us and explained how the rolls were made and what was available. I chose to try their signature roll, their namesake Salt & Butter roll. The roll was hot and fresh.. it was fluffy and soft. Not airy more like a soft pillow. It was warm topped with flakes of salt.I really can't explain it fully, just that it was warming and like a hug. They had lots of other offerings to choose from savory to sweet. They even had a curry one which comes in a spicy option as well. With the lingering smells of rolls and curiosity, of course I had to try more. I ordered a Cookie Salt & Butter Roll, Garlic Salt & Butter, Fish fillet panini and an Emoji filled with Nutella and vanilla cream. The fish fillet, was yummy and the Tatar sauce was flavorful. I normally don't care for Tatar sauce, really enjoyed the panini. And for it being a fish sandwich it was not heavy. The garlic roll, is the signature roll but leveled up. Bursting with garlic flavor and even with the tomato filling fit not make the roll soggy. The cookie butter roll was something I had not seen before. It was a roll baked with cookie batter. It was quite interesting, it was a unique it was a perfect balance of a sugar cookie and a butter roll. I enjoyed it very much. The emoji was still soft even though we did not get to it until later after dinner. According to my 10 year old son, bread was soft and they did not skimp on the Nutella filling. However, it was more chocolatey but delicious. Having met both owners Stuart and William, it really shows the love and passion that goes in their breads. Its a bit hidden because the bakery is located in a business park. Parking can be tricky, and totally worth it.I am already making plans for another visit.
