Salerno's Pizza of Chicago

I was told this place had some good thin crust pizzas, so I had to try it before leaving. We just ordered a small pizza and some mussels. The pizza was pretty good (not square cut because of the size of the pizza). The Salerno Special Pizza was pretty thin, and the toppings definitely weighed down on it.

I've been eating and ordering pizza from this place since I was a kid, grew up in West town such a great neighborhood, and Salernos is a staple of that neighborhood. Today was very disappointing, I orders a medium pizza and mushrooms, pizza was good as always but the MUSHROOMS were trash!! The quality and quantity were awful.... For $13 dollars I expect a lot more.

Recently did a pizza by the slice tour in my neighborhood of West Town and Salerno's was the first stop. Pizza places only and it was all takeout. But having briefly gone in, it was probably the nicest restaurant ambiance of the group. But to be fair, this is a cheese pizza takeout review.So this is a unique style of pizza that I don't think fits into any of the pizza styles that I'm familiar with. I can say it's not tavern, pan, deep dish, stuffed, delivery, Detroit, roman, etc. It's kind of like a thicker denser soft crust pizza. The sauce was very good and so the flavor of the pizza was also very good. I enjoyed it. I'm not sure I'd order a whole pizza from here. Maybe it can grow on me as a different option.For $6 for a slice and including a can of coke, it was about in-line with pricing in the neighborhood.

So the beautyful bartender Loraine is beautiful and amazing! I love this place!!! The buratta salad was out of this world and recommended this restaurant to everybody!!!

Stopped in on a Wednesday night looking for Carter. The girl who was behind the bar looked lost. Unfortunate, I normally enjoy this spot!

Best thin crust pizza in the city. The thick crust is also good but the thin is fantastic.

This is one of our go to places at least twice a month. Food is very good and some dishes are just ok. Vodka sauce, lemon chicken, roasted chicken , sausage and peppers, fillet mignon, calms, Caesar salad and pizza are all very good! If your gluten free-the gluten pizza is very good too. Ribs and their newer chicken dish (forgot the name) with arugula were just ok. Service is good but can drag at times. The place is chill and casual to hangout with friends and family. Can't miss a game with all the tv's around so for the hubby is a plus.

Have had their $6 slice and pop for years but tried the thin crust for the first time today and it was amazing. Really great crispy crust and the cheese and sauce was excellent, too. Can't believe it took me this long to try the thin crust but it was really among the best thin crust pizzas I have ever had in Chicago and the surround suburbs.

I was there for the first time on Jan. 30 and had an outstanding experience. The calamari was one of the best I've ever had. We also loved the pizza. Tonight couldn't have been more different. I was so excited to get that calamari again. It came out looking undercooked and anemic. The server said it looked that way because they just changed the oil or something like that. I don't really understand that. We sent it back. It came back overcooked and rubbery. This was the calamari that was utter perfection only two weeks ago. What happened?We decided against the pizza tonight because a stranger next to us ordered it and it came out with the wrong ingredients twice and he had a very long wait. We asked if we could order the tortellini carbonara and substitute linguini for the tortellini. Our server said yes. The pasta came out with no peas or mushrooms. Our server said that the "make your own" carbonara doesn't come with peas or mushrooms. I explained that all we wanted to do was substitute linguine for tortellini. She never offered to correct the problem. After the wonderful experience here a couple weeks ago, I thought I might become a regular. Now I doubt that I'll go back.
