Was interested in joining this YMCA, called to set appt and was told not needed. Came in to get a tour, etc. was told it would be a few minutes. The lobby was messy and poorly kept. After waiting and observing the functioning for 20 minutes, we checked again - "oh are you still waiting ?"This organization presents as very disorganized.Keep looking ... you can do better !

The staff have been extremely friendly with greetings and for helping me with questions. I just started at Thomson Reuters across the street so there's a shuttle that runs during the lunch hour which is nice to take advantage of once in a while. There's also a discount on membership as long as I visit at least 12 times a month. Perhaps other companies and medical plans offer discounts as well so I'd recommend checking on that. When I first started using the facility they were renovating the women's locker room so we were using the family locker room which was a little cramped but the women's locker room is open now. There's an indoor track which is nice since I get tired of the cardio equipment sometimes. There are small lockers for valuables facing the front desk and I heard you can borrow locks from the front desk if you need to for the locker room. I've heard people taking advantage of child care which seems convenient. Still need to try the pool and group classes although I heard some group class instructors from the Y visit Thomson Reuters over the lunch break which is awkward if I want to make the minimum number of visits per month but a small detail I guess.

I enjoy this YMCA for a few certain reasons, a lovely track on the second floor, a (generally) clean feeling, and a friendly staff who have been very helpful, and it isn't overrun with Children. However, the Eagan YMCA has some 'splanin' to do! There are little things that knock it dowm from being a 4 or 5 star gym to a three star. Since starting at the Eagan location, I've begun to notice certain tiny things that are a nuisance at first, but after going for a few months makes me just want to scream (which I am politely doing via a Yelp review). As I said generally clean above, I'll point out the locker room's towel dispenser hasn't worked since I started frequenting this location so random rolls of towels are just left out, which is kinda nasty. I cant imagine its expensive to fix those things (even the downtown Y has those working!)Also, the treadmills are really nice as far as the programs and capabilities (I watch the Packers there when they aren't on locally) there are problems with logging into your Y account.I think its a good gym, but the way they don't take care of little details drives me a little nuts.

This is an excellent and -- with a few minor exceptions -- well kept Y. It's huge. I take my son to the pool each Sunday to enjoy the water slide while I go for my run.The life guards are attentive and really great to deal with. One, a math major who wants to teach someday, asks the kids some math questions before they go down the slide. Nothing required, but I absolutely love that he does it. Another, I call "Little Napoleon". He is *quite* attentive and I'm sure he is fodder for minor rebellions from the young swimmers behind his back. There are a few treadmills that have shorts in the headphones that I find quite annoying and they have been working on the hot water in the showers for a few months now with no improvement short of more signs informing us that they are working on it.All in all, I really like this Y. It's big, the staff is friendly, there are a lot of classes, daycare, and the faults are few.

I concur with Justin B. Equipment is replaced often, it seems to be on a 2 year cycle (more or less).Group exercise classes are updated. They change enough to keep from getting stale.A very nice facility.

At first I was excited to join a gym that I have heard nothing but, good things about. Unfortunately I did not experience the same hospitality. I gave the lady that signed me up for the monthly subscription a call and a notice that I had a family emergency and needed to cancel before they billed me again as I would not be attending. I made the mistake of not taking anyone's name and I ended up with a fat bill of $100 due to the YMCA. I called to explain the situation and was informed it was already sent to a bill collector! That may not seem like a lot but, to a college student like myself. That can go towards books, gas and food. Thanks for the support you guys, I think planet fitness sounds like they would value me more as a customer. Also $119 per month for two people? At planet fitness you can get their premium membership for only $21.99 monthly and bring a guest with you every time for free. Now it makes sense why I have been hearing rumors of the YMCA going out of business. They better step up their game, because I am not convinced.

This is a nice facility that is well maintained with an excellent staff. They were more than happy to whip out the bolt cutters when I accidentally locked the padlock key inside the locker on my second day of using the facility. (and it was there lock too... ooops). They have a nice clean locker room and great cardio equipment. There is a large swimming pool, indoor track and basketball courts but I pretty much just use the cardio equipment. The treadmills have TVs on them so I can watch the morning news during my workout.

The fitness center is small, so when you first walk in the odor will be overwhelming. I like the elliptical glide machines as opposed to the standard ellipticals but they only have three so it's a gamble if that's the machine you want. As for the locker rooms, they are big and they have an abundance of lockers. I wish they had an 18+ option like other Ys because the summer swim class for kids usually coincides with my afternoon workout so I have to wait until they are gone to use the showers. After I head back to school, I don't think I will be using this location in the future.

Violation: The license holder did not comply with the requirements for reducing the risk of sudden unexpected infant death. The license holder did not ensure that there was nothing in the crib with an infant younger than one year of age, except for the infant's pacifier, as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations, title 16, part 1511. Two cribs in the Butterfly infant classroom had blankets stored under the crib mattress.
