Whistle Binkies On The Lake

I hesitate to update my review because, selfishly, I don't want my Whistle Binkies to get overrun with new fans. But honestly, this place deserves all the love. Their menu is huge, but there are a few standout items that are so good they'll ruin you for overpriced fancy meals forever.Let's talk favorites: the stir fry and the oriental salad. Both are massive--like, bring-a-friend massive--and absolutely crave-worthy. But the real star? That Bloody Mary with their special spicy vodka. I'm not exaggerating when I say I dream about it. If it were socially acceptable to start every morning with one, I would. Whistle Binkies, don't ever change. Or get too crowded.

Traveling to the area and knew nothing of the area, so with the help of fella Yelp reviewers - chose this place. First the location is really trendy and I'm guessing a lot of local folks dine and hang here. I really liked the look of the place. Since it was a nice afternoon we decided to eat outside, right at the lake. Was really nice. As for the meals. I had a 4 piece Fish and Chips. It was cooked well and the fish didn't have nasty "fishy" taste. It was good. As for the fries - they were good but a bit light for the serving side. I'm sorry I can't for the life of me remember the name my side kick had. Look at the menu now, I think it was the Smash Burger. He had no complaints with the burgers, but did ask about the fries provided. Again it wasn't a lot and it was all small pieces. Like the last of the batch. My partner did ask our server and he did bring out another side of fries a little bit later. They were A LOT better looking. As for our server: nice fella. Seemed to be real busy but was still decently attentive. As for the overall. I'd give this place a 4 - 4.5 overall. I'd eat here again and have no problems suggesting you eat here as well. Ps. They have a large drink and beer selection - but we couldn't part-take due to our work schedule. But I bet this a large part of this place.

I was in town for 6 nights for work - ate at Whistle Binkies 3 times! The initial draw was patio dining, the food and great service had me coming back. Walleye Sandwich - fantastic! Chicken Bacon Wrap - tasty! Loved the Steak Fries as my side. The pretzel and fried mushrooms on the appetizer menu were good too!

It was a very nice day to eat outdoors while we were on a roadtrip. This place had a large outdoor dining area, and also a large indoor dining. Hardly anyone was dining inside since it was such a nice day. We arrived around 5pm and the place was packed. It took the server a while to get to us since she was one of the only few servers that day. Initially I was concerned she forgot about us, but after she took care of the other customers' bills she finally came around to us. At that point enough customers have left and she was very friendly and attentive. Long distance roadtrips can be taxing, so my family and I wanted something fresh so we ordered some salad entrees. They were pretty substantial and good; to balance the healthy we also ordered some fries Their Minnesota mule was so delicious I would order this again if I come by here next time. They also have a fresh popcorn machine indoors and you can get some for the table. Overall, we enjoyed this restaurant and will stop by next time we are in the area again!

We like this place and have always had good food + friendly service. The drinks are great and the menu is big. The popcorn is great and the atmosphere is cozy.

Had a chance to get back up here and the interior and the fish and chips were exactly the same. Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ended. They were grossly understaffed - as in one server in training + said trainer server for the entire packed place. The bartender that we started with said he wasn't even a bartender and was standing in for someone. And the prime rib sliders were abysmal. Might go back but definitely not if we walked in and saw the understaffing again. When your staff is stressed out like that it really just makes the entire experience less than stellar.

We came here for a late lunch on their great patio hoping to avoid the normal wait for outdoor seating. We've only been here for drinks before so we decided to give the food a try. We love the variety of beer taps - we tried 4 different Minnesota beers and thought they were all great options. We started with the bruschetta. This was so close to being great. I loved the marinaded tomatoes and balsamic, but there was way too much garlic. The pear and chicken salad was the winner here. The dressing was a bit thick for a vinaigrette but the pears were fresh and the flavors with the blue cheese and walnuts together were nice. The buffalo salad just had too much... everything. Not enough romaine and too much cheese, corn, olives etc. . They should try letting the greens shine more in this one.The real winner was the service. He was clearly super busy but kept on top of drinks, apps, timing our food out, and refills. We never felt abandoned while he was rushing from table to table.

Met with about 20 other Flooring America owners last night and had drinks and dinner. Everyone enjoyed the place the free popcorn and the blackened salmon that I had with a corn side dish and a side salad was terrific but there was nobody there out of 21 people that didn't say everything was good so this is an easy five star.

Excellent food in every order.Love the view.Service could not be better. The restraunt is always clean and inviting .

My husband and I stopped in for a burger and some Oktoberfest beer because tis the season. We sat at the bar. The Dr. Drew looking bar tender asked us what we wanted but didn't offer a tap list. He seemed super annoyed with me asking for one. Ordered the smash burger and fries. The burger came with barely a squirt of the chipotle mayo on it. No ketchup for the fries. My husband's burger was very salty. The cranky bartender never came back to ask if we got everything we needed. He even walked by almost like he was avoiding us. Another bartender was able to get me some ketchup. The place is pretty noisy. I would say it is better for hosting bigger party's. I don't think we will be back to eat there unfortunately.
