Drove by this location on our way to breakfast. Stopped here afterwards and found a cute planter and plant I've been looking for! It is smaller, but what's inside is great - a lot of variety that you would find at Gerten's. I found the pilea moon valley plant I've been searching for. That was an unexpected birthday weekend treat. There were a lot of planters and tables I had my eye on. I'll have to be back.

A friend had nothing but great things to say about this place. I've tried to come here 3 times and absolutely no luck. Online hours say they are open, but that's definitely incorrect. Highly suggest to update online/social media with correct hours of operation (if this hasn't been done yet). I will not continue to go out of my way to check this place out, if I'm in the area and they are actually open, I may pop in.

Hm. There's not much to look at here. It's small (not huge like Gerten's, or even as big as Bachman's). There were quite a few unique pots and planters, but the selection of annuals and perennials was meager. Just a handful of each type. It's like a really small Home Depot garden center. Not worth a trip.

I am normally a devoted Bachmans shopper, but I was out and about and figured I might as well check out one of the local options nearby. Wagners is impressively huge... when you pull into the big parking lot, the building stretches on and on. I did find the layout slightly confusing. I kind of had to wander around for awhile before I figured out which way to go to get outside, inside or over to the cash registers. The inside portion of the store is small with an abundance of pots that you can buy. I enjoyed looking at the many options because I hadn't seen many of them before. It was a really impressive display. But I did find it odd that there were no yard decor type items (I've been looking for a spinner) and the section with the different types of soil was very small and right up front by the registers. Seemed like they sell a very limited selection of Miracle Gro soil products and that's it. Maybe I missed a larger section outside or something, totally possible. Also the inside area of the store had zero ventilation and was really hot and stuffy. Inside the greenhouse area, the plants are magnificent. Big, beautiful and abundant. I almost bought an entire tray of salvia because they were just so darn pretty before talking myself off the ledge ("You need to have a place in mind to plant them BEFORE you buy them, self!") and putting them regrettably back in place. Staff was generally friendly. Would definitely come back if I was in the area but not sure I'd make a special trip.

Wagners is our go to place for garden supplies and plants. They are medium sized compared to other nearby garden stores - smaller than Bachmans but larger than Tangletown. Their prices are reasonable and they have a large selection. They don't sell lawn furniture and do not have the range of indoor plants as does Bachmans large store on Lyndale nor do they offer gardening services. However, we have always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. Check out staff are friendly and efficient. During normal times they can be very busy but they do a good job of handling the crowds. During the pandemic we feel that they have done a particularly good job at keeping customers and staff at appropriate distances and they require masks. They also have a frequent buyer program and parking is convenient. We highly recommend.

Excellent local garden center which grows many of its own plants. Main location on Penn Ave has existed in SW Mpls since 1907. Family owned.

Nice people and a wide selection of gardening plants and accessories. Perhaps not the cheapest, but their plants are great quality and the selection of annual and perennial plants is pretty broad.

I sometimes will do landscaping projects for people because it's an enjoyable activity, and you get payed to get a good workout. When I do this my favorite place to get shrubs and plants is Wagner's, they've got the best performing shrubs and perennials I've seen. For example I've gotten roses elsewhere and they have yet to bloom after a full year, some even after 2 years. The ones I got from Wagners have been consistently blooming since the time they were planted. Other shrubs such as the Euphorbia I got there has both amazing foliage all season and amazing flowers in the Spring, it too has been a very healthy plant. This place has excellent quality stuff in a pleasant shopping atmosphere, and when you need help there are knowledgeable people around to give it to you. I gave up seeking help at big box places after a Garden Center employee there didn't even know what Lavender was when I asked if they carried it, really are you serious? If you want great plants and shrubs, and helpful people to help you find the right one for you, come here I'm sure you will not be dissapointed.

As of late, Wagner's doesn't stand behind its products period. I bought a succulent that died within 3 weeks. The staff person was quite rude and said the plant was not dead but if it was, it was my fault. She also stated that there is no warranty of any kind on houseplants. So Wagner's chooses to blow off a 20 year customer for a plant that cost less than $10. I won't be returning to this store.

Went there yesterday to buy a Christmas tree and when I was wiping a bit of snow off my truck so I could open my topper a very entitled woman yelled at me telling me not to do that here because they had already had the parking lot cleared. Lost my business, and by the looks of the empty parking lot all the time they need all the business they can get
